Chapter 2: Black Market
In almost six hours he had produced a map. Atlas lived in a part of the empire that was considered the 'mother country', that is, where the empire was first established. The Epsilon Empire covered almost 70 per cent of a continent and had territories on other continents.
This was enough to explain that the northern part of the main part of the empire was enormous. In short, there should have been dozens of treasure marks in the places Atlas remembered, the map covered a huge area.
After he took out the map, an idea came to his mind. Atlas knew that his sister would be staying at home for a week, and that meant he could ask her for something. Maybe tomorrow he could get some items from her.
He had a plan.
At the beginning of this plan, there was something that needed to be done, and this thing was the [Potion of Mana Development].
This potion had helped Atlas a lot in his previous life. Although the time he used this potion was a time when the potion would no longer have much effect on him, but at least it was a potion that was enough to officially pass him to the next level.
This potion could be used exactly four times and after that would lose its use he even knew how to make this potion even stronger which meant it would make him have a potential that could be better than his previous life.
The name of the alchemy professor who created this potion was Frank Adley. This professor was such a kind-hearted man that he publicised the ingredients of the potion to the whole world. This revolutionised the development of magic.
"We're in a boat and it's taking on water. We have dozens of buckets, but everyone hides them because of their stinginess.
I'd rather use the bucket I have for everyone than wait without doing anything and sink." Frank said, and these words were indeed seen as an eye-opening event for people.
In short, humans started to become a more decent race after this event.
Of course, it was not possible to make everyone perfect.
Atlas directly put on his most organised clothes.
In one of the inner pockets of the coat he was wearing, he put a mask that would cover his whole face and in the other pocket, he put the magic bag that his sister had given him on his fourteenth birthday.
"I'll give your gift tomorrow." his sister Eva said.
Atlas could do nothing but nod and smile.
With that, he went out with his sister's curious eyes on him. He knew very clearly where he was going.
As soon as he stepped outside, a very heavy cold hit his face. This was the north, a place where the cold and those who had sworn to live here could live.
In many parts of the north, there were monsters even outside the dungeons. The weather had a bad effect on everything, and that was enough to explain why there were still so many treasures on the map Atlas had drawn.
No one dared to explore.
He started walking through the city and after a walk of almost ten minutes, he came to a pharmacy. When he entered the pharmacy after putting on his mask, the pharmacist looked at him kindly and then said, "Welcome."
Atlas remembered very clearly what this place was like. There were many black markets in the north, south, east, west and in the centre of the empire. One of the largest was in the city of Ilanos, where he lived.
It was clear what he wanted to do now. Perhaps Frank Adley, one of the greatest alchemy professors and considered a hero of the 12th Grade, was not even trying to invent the formula.
This meant that Atlas could literally make a potion in his hand that could increase his magic rank and potential by a colossal amount.
"Sun combines even with the darkest bloom dear sir," Atlas said suddenly.
The pharmacist shook his head when he heard this and then pointed to the entrance of the counter and told Atlas to pass through.
The moment Atlas walked through the door behind the counter, he felt as if he had entered another world. As this old feeling took over his body, he tried to remember the last time he had seen so many people together.
It was a really weird feeling. It was strange that every single person here knew that he was doing something really illegal and didn't want to say a word about it.
It was as if his previous sense of 'justice' had disappeared and everything had changed for him.
In wartime, the only time this many people had been together was when dead bodies had been piled together.
The shouting of the shopkeepers was deep in his ears and the haggling of the shoppers and so on made for a really interesting scene.
Living in the north, he didn't get to see many people outside. Outside of the Globe Hero Academy and the city centres, you didn't see many heaters with magic cores, outside.
That made people very careful. Of course, since the weather dropped to a maximum of -10 degrees Celsius, it wasn't really a big problem.
It was just the most important thing to be careful.
As soon as he turned back, he saw for the first time hundreds of people in a group. They were of different races and appearances.
Atlas quickly made his way through the crowd. He knew exactly where he was going. He had enough money with him and he was well aware of the materials he was going to buy.
Alchemy was perhaps his weakest point, so he would make too many mistakes and the potion would fail. This reminded him that he could buy herbs cheaper if he bought them in bulk from the black market.
Truth be told, he had indeed come a long way in alchemy, although it could be said that he was still not as good as perhaps a third or fourth-grade alchemist.
He was a warrior after all.
After a short time, he was able to find all the herbs. He was very upset that he had used almost half of the gold in his magic bag for the purchase, after all, he wasn't going to ask his sister for money, he couldn't do that, not when his sister was working so hard.
Now he had to go back home. The fact that he had everything he needed to buy meant that he could now begin the first phase of his plan.
He had to be at his best before he went to the academy.
He prepared to leave the Blackmarket and headed for the exit. Just then a shiver ran through his body. He didn't know what was happening, but he was 100% sure that something was calling him.
It felt so strange that there was no precise way to describe it, just a very familiar yet distant feeling that seemed to be weighing on him.
He started to follow the feeling and after almost ten minutes he entered a dark alley. As he started walking down the alley, something caught his eye and he tried to shield his eyes with his hands. He was stunned by what he saw at that moment.
He could not believe his eyes. There was no way he could have found something like that in a place like this.
