Chapter 3: The Truth
What Atlas saw was a window. It was like a sign, a window with what it was pointing at and what it was pointing at.
Cautiously approaching the window, he came across a stone on the ground covered in dust, but if what the window said was true, what was right at his feet was far too valuable for someone at his level.
[7th Grade Magic Stone]
First of all, it was inconceivable that he even saw such a magic stone here. Indeed, for someone at his level, such a stone was something that had almost no use at the moment.
As soon as he approached that window, it disappeared and another window appeared right in front of his eyes:
[Atlas the Great Hero, if you are reading this message you must have either killed a living being in a dungeon or by chance you must have encountered something that triggered this message. My name is Chronos, the master and ruler of time, I know you know me very well, I am the one who gave you a blessing in time].
Atlas couldn't understand what was happening, he shook his head from side to side and wondered if he was hallucinating.
Maybe he was dead and his soul was dreaming in the infinite void. Otherwise, it would have made no sense for him to be partially talking to a god.
After all, there was only one way for this to happen, and that was to worship the gods themselves for years in an official temple. It would not be a lie to say that the number of people who could do this was really quite small.
It was really an amazing and incredibly absurd event.
[I know you are confused, but this help I have given you has dulled my energy incredibly, I have rewound time, and as of now we will not know you in this life, I am sorry...I have been following your journey almost from the beginning and at that woman's request I had a reason to rewind time.
I can't leave a very long message so you should know this. Cover your mistakes, save the ones you love, destroy the ones you don't, and be a true hero, even if it goes against the principles of heroism.
You will know more in the future but for now, forgive me.].
[Note: This is not my only gift to you, if you manage to kill a monster in a dungeon or something, you will get the full gift. Good luck.]
After Atlas had finished reading the windows that had formed in front of him, his eyes immediately fell on the shutdown button on the top right.
As soon as he pressed the button, his old vision came back to him and all the windows disappeared. He didn't know what had happened, but he had a definite idea that he couldn't understand it now. Still, the mention of Chronos' name worried him.
Gods and goddesses didn't care about the people of the world, they just gave them blessings and nothing else.
If Chronos helped him, it could only be for one reason: Someone had offered to help him.
Still, the fact that a great god like Chronos...a titan had helped him against all odds was enough to make him really happy.
After all, he had even managed to get a blessing from Chronos in his previous life.
Atlas knew exactly who it was, but he didn't need to think about it now, first, he had to find a dungeon and kill a monster. Maybe he could learn everything then.
After all that, as he bent down and picked up the magic stone, something else caught his attention. Just to the right of where he had found the magic stone was a wooden crate.
Atlas immediately opened the lid of the crate and then smiled broadly, his eyes wide open as he looked at the contents.
There were at least more than fifteen magic stones here.
All the stones seemed to be of the same grade. Of course, Atlas could tell that each stone was a 5th Grade, he had worked with them for a long time after all.
He threw all the magic stones into his magic bag as if he had stolen them and then left the black market as soon as he was sure that no one had seen him.
Quickly leaving the pharmacy, Atlas entered an alleyway changed all his clothes and threw them in his magic bag, he couldn't risk being followed and found out who he was.
After changing his clothes in the cold, which was almost below 0 degrees Celsius, he hurried back to his house.
When he returned home, he found a note on the table. The note said that Eva would not be home for a while.
Taking advantage of this, Atlas found the largest pot he could find and then took out enough ingredients to make a potion directly from his magic bag.
The ingredients were [Fire Daisy, Sun Grass, Moonlight Flower Leaves and Liquid Mana Extract].
After filling two-thirds of the pot with water, Atlas waited for the water to boil well. After a short time, he threw the Fire Chamomile directly into the pot, and when the colour of the water began to resemble a living flame, he added the Sun Grass and Moonlight Flower Leaf.
After boiling for almost an hour, he poured the Liquid Mana Extract into the pot and waited for fifteen minutes.
Unfortunately, his wait was unrequited. The water in the pot had completely disappeared, leaving only the burnt plants stuck to the bottom of the pot.
He really was quite serious and, if it's appropriate to say so, he managed to fail incredibly successfully. The fact that he did this despite knowing alchemy very well was really ridiculous.
The recipe was too difficult.
Atlas took a deep breath and then said sarcastically to himself, "If I can get through this without going crazy, I'm the best."
After cleaning the pot, he repeated the process dozens of times, over and over again. As the night hours began to draw in, the door to the house opened and Eva entered the kitchen, curious.
Eva's gaze instantly turned to her younger brother, who had an angry expression and watched what was happening in the pot.
"Welcome, big sister," Atlas said calmly, his heart still pounding every time he looked at Eva, his goal was to never lose his sister again.
Eva was about to get angry when she realized that every single one of the materials her little brother was using was poisonous when she stopped and asked calmly, "What are you doing?"
Atlas, of course, had a perfectly good answer to this question.
"I'm trying to make a poison that can kill harmful plants, if I boil it properly it's harmless to humans or other races. It's something I do all the time when you're away, I'm just not very good at alchemy..."
After Atlas' words, Eva shook her head from side to side and then, as if giving up, said, "Don't stay up too long, honey." and went to her room.
At his sister's words, Atlas could hardly keep himself from laughing. It was a wonderful feeling to be able to interact with his sister in this way after a very, very long time, to be able to speak as if the future could not exist.
And after all that Atlas took a deep breath and continued the boiling process as if nothing had happened.
He had to succeed somehow. Just because he was incompetent at it didn't mean he couldn't do anything, trial and error often worked after all.
