As Homelander In Multiverse

Chapter 140: Chapter 138.1: Running into Harley Quinn

At this moment.

Inside the Pentagon.

"Imagine if Superman suddenly decided to descend from the skies one day, rip the White House roof clean off, and drag our highest leader out of his office."

"Who could stop him?"

"What if the next Superman turns out to be a terrorist?"

"Amanda has a solution."

A Black woman confidently stepped up to the large screen. She was none other than Amanda Waller, the mastermind behind the Suicide Squad initiative.

She showcased the Enchantress—a mystical sorceress from another realm—who, in a demonstration of her capabilities, retrieved classified intelligence from Tehran's underground weapons department.

This display persuaded the Secretary of Defense to approve the Suicide Squad project.

Just as the meeting was nearing its conclusion, the doors burst open. A staff member stumbled in, pale-faced and trembling.

"Metahuman!"

"A metahuman just ripped the roof off the White House!"

The room descended into chaos.

The Secretary of Defense turned to Amanda. "Quick, execute your plan!"

Then he shouted, "Get me the live feed from the White House immediately!"

Moments later, the screen displayed footage of the White House. Its roof was gone, thick smoke billowing into the air, with faint glimpses of fire within.

Above the White House, a figure hovered in the sky.

"Is that Superman?" the Secretary of Defense asked urgently. "Zoom in!"

The image zoomed in, revealing not Superman, but another blonde man of Caucasian descent.

"Mr. John?" a general exclaimed, standing up in shock.

The Secretary of Defense glanced at him. "Who is this John?"

The general hastily replied, "He was involved in the Metropolis incident. We had a skirmish with him in the desert, and afterward, reached an agreement."

This general was none other than General Achill, the man who had previously led a military assault on John, only for the operation to end in near disaster.

The Secretary of Defense froze for a moment before asking, "Wasn't he supposed to be our ally? Why is he attacking the White House?"

Achill had no answer to this question.

The screen showed John vanishing from view, only to reappear inside the White House moments later.

The Secretary of Defense murmured, "Fortunately, the President isn't in the White House today."

Then he barked out orders: "Contact the National Guard. Surround the White House! Get our fighter jets ready; we may need to conduct a precision airstrike at any moment."

He added gravely, "Let's hope Amanda and her team get there in time."

Achill shook his head. It was clear that Amanda's team, which hadn't even been fully assembled yet, wouldn't make it in time.

Achill suggested, "Perhaps we should call someone else for help."

---

White House, Washington D.C.

John strolled into an opulent office. Around him, panicked White House staff scrambled to flee, their shouts echoing through the building.

You couldn't blame them. The roof had just been torn off; staying calm would've been a miracle.

John dropped into the chair usually reserved for the President, casually propping his feet on the desk.

He shook his head. "The President's chair isn't as comfortable as I imagined."

Flying over, he'd noticed that Metropolis still bore the scars of the last disaster, the city's reconstruction far from complete.

By his reckoning, not much time had passed since his arrival in the DC Universe.

Outside, tanks rolled in, encircling the White House. Overhead, two fighter jets roared by, circling above.

John looked up at the planes and chuckled.

"Still favoring sneak attacks, huh?"

Behind him, a figure descended silently.

Bruce Wayne, clad in the iconic Batsuit, spoke in a low voice. "You're back."

"I knew you'd return."

He glanced at the exposed sky above them. "Though I didn't expect you to show up like this."

John spread his hands. "Don't you think this kind of entrance suits my status?"

He paused, then added, "I'm surprised, though. It's you who came to greet me."

"I thought it'd be Superman."

Batman's expression darkened. "He's lost his will to fight. He doesn't care about this world anymore."

John turned to face him. "Sounds like you've met him."

Bruce's gaze was heavy. "I had to. After all, I killed his woman."

John raised an eyebrow. "And he didn't kill you? What a saint."

Batman sighed. "His heart is already dead. Even killing me doesn't interest him anymore."

John shook his head. "That won't do. Looks like I'll have to have a chat with him."

Batman's posture stiffened. "What are you planning?"

John stood, laughing. "Relax. I'm just going to give him a little... boost."

Batman's voice turned cold. "Don't disturb him. He's finally stopped caring about this world. I don't want him to destroy it."

John smirked. "If I recall correctly, I don't take orders from you."

Suddenly, a loud noise echoed through the air.

Someone descended rapidly, landing beside Bruce.

Batman glanced to his side. "I see you got my message."

The newcomer smiled faintly. "Or maybe I just needed to watch the news to figure out what's going on."

Her long hair flowed freely, her armored form radiating confidence.

Wonder Woman.

John grinned. "Hello, Diana. Are you here to join me in visiting Superman?"

"If so, you might want to change your outfit—and bring a gift."

Diana smiled back, but her tone was firm. "I agree with Bruce. Superman doesn't need visitors right now."

John sighed. "What a shame. Looks like I'll have to visit him alone."

Diana unsheathed her sword and readied her shield. "I think you'd better stay right where you are."

John chuckled dryly, his feet slowly lifting off the ground. "And what if I don't?"

---

Kansas.

In a quiet farmland, a man drove a tractor into a barn. His beard was unkempt, and his appearance hinted at months of neglect.

Wiping his face with a towel, he grabbed a nearby glass and drank deeply.

A radio played in the background.

"Breaking news: The White House has just been attacked by a mysterious individual."

"Eyewitnesses have identified him as one of the participants in the recent Metropolis disaster."

"We have also received reports of Batman—"

At the mention of Batman, the man froze, lowering his glass.

He walked over to the radio and turned it off.
