Assassin God: Rise of the Strongest Player

Chapter 20: Chapter 20 : Fiery Marsh

Chapter 20 : Fiery Marsh

Hawkeye was pained so deeply when Nash called him a beast.

It was not his fault that he had been involved in an accident a few years back that gave him a terrible burn scar on his face.

Despite his family's wealth, Hawkeye's face could not be completely repaired even with the series of surgeries he had.

Because of this, he now looked ugly and funny. That was his weak spot and he hated it whenever he was reminded of that incident.

Now, Nash had to open his mouth and call him a beast in front of Eileen, Kai and the rest of his team.

About to draw his sword to attack Nash as he was leaving with Eileen, Kai stopped him.

"It's not worth it, Hawkeye," Kai urged him to not do anything foolish. "Relax. You don't want to be flagged because of that guy."

Hawkeye gritted his teeth bitterly. He was seriously pained and the only way he could feel better was to make Nash feel even worse pain.

"Let me go, Kai."

"Don't do anything stupid," Kai continued, holding him back. "Why do it yourself when you can get others to do it for you?"

Hearing what seemed like a bright idea from Kai, Hawkeye finally got a hold on his temper and calmed down.

He wanted to listen to what Kai had to say since it sounded sweet in his eyes.

"What do you mean?" Hawkeye asked.

Kai started laughing. "You can always put a bounty on his head. We both know that they are players who live to kill other players, damning the consequences that may arise from it."

Hawkeye was starting to see where Kai's plan was headed and a smile crept up on his face.

"So instead of doing it myself and getting flagged, I can put a price on his head and have interested parties kill him on my behalf."

Kai snapped his fingers loudly. "Exactly!"

"Splendid, Kai! Splendid!"

Hawkeye thought over it briefly and finally made a decision.

"Put it on his head," Hawkeye said. "A bounty of 200,000 coins. That's $200 worth of coins."

Kai scratched his cheeks with some disbelief on his face.

"What is it?" Hawkeye asked.

"But you don't have that much coins since we've been buying items."

Hawkeye sighed and raised his hand, almost as if he wanted to hit Kai. "I know that, dumbass. I will just reload. Get that bounty going."

"Sure."

Before Kai would be able to get the bounty up and running, Nash and Eileen would have entered the dungeon, and Hawkeye could not estimate how long the two of them would spend there.

He couldn't wait.

$200 was not a large amount of money to Hawkeye in the real world but first he had to convert it to copper coins, even though that wasn't going to be a problem.

As long as Nash can be dealt with, he didn't mind paying more.

Kai left him to do as he was asked and get the bounty running.

Hawkeye looked in the direction that Nash and Eileen had walked, his face blank as he clenched his fist.

"I will make sure that you don't survive this game. I promise you that," Hawkeye swore as he led the rest of his team into the dungeon.

Meanwhile, Kai was bitter.

Not only because Hawkeye had tried to bully him, he was also not happy since he was missing the dungeon raid.

******

[You have entered the dungeon, Fiery Marsh]

[Dungeon: Fiery Marsh]

[Level: 2]

[You are playing on Easy Mode]

Nash had nothing to prove to anybody. That was why he selected the easy mode for himself and Eileen.

Without a doubt, the more difficult the quest was, the better the rewards.

However, to increase to any other level of difficulty that was not easy, needed a higher fire resistance point.

The [Fiery Marsh] was scaled as easy, medium, hard, herculean and hell

Easy mode required 5 fire resistance points.

Medium required 10 points.

Hard mode needed 15 points, and so on, with each one increasing by 5 fire resistance points.

At the moment, Nash was not going for a larger reward, especially when he did not have the necessary thing to reduce the big risks that come along with it.

As soon as he and Eileen entered the dungeon, everywhere was hot.

They were surrounded by flames that burned endlessly, surprising Eileen.

Nash expected this and had made sure that they were both well prepared, thanks to his flame armour and the gold ring he gave Eileen.

"Now I get why we needed fire resistance," Eileen commented.

Nash reflexively rolled his eyes, almost uttering a "No shit, Sherlock" sort of response.

They found themselves inside the fire of the dungeon and in front of them were a group of dungeon creatures—the giant fireflies.

These were fireflies that were two-third of the size of an average human adult, and made literally of fire.

They were a few of them, numbering about six and they were all level 2 creatures of the Fiery Marsh.

Nash immediately summoned his bone dagger.

"Get behind me," he instructed Eileen, who humbly obeyed him.

Nash's eyes were glued to the flies, tracking them in whatever direction they went.

Noticing the players who just arrived, two of the fireflies charged towards them in an attack but it was not something that Nash could not handle.

With Null's help and his own strength, Nash's stacked attack was enough to handle the fireflies that approached, with a single attack of his dealing at least 50 damage.

The fireflies had a low defense and used their advantage of flight to manoeuvre around attacks but the speed and power that Nash displayed was more than they bargained for.

"Tch!" Nash gritted his teeth as he looked up.

The other fireflies were not going to allow him rest. As soon as he killed the second one, the fire creatures released a rain of needle-shaped flame.

Nash hurriedly covered Eileen as he took the brunt of the attack. Because of the sheer number of this flame needles, it was hard to evade since they covered every angle.

A red light flashed.

-18 damage!
