Elsie felt her breath hitch. Pierce's words hung in the air, making the atmosphere around them feel heavier than before.

"We... are not alone?" her voice was barely a whisper.

Pierce slowly stood up, his eyes scanning the room as if searching for something unseen. His fingers were still gripping his phone, the message glowing on the screen.

"Don't move. They're watching."

The words sent a chill down his spine. Pierce glanced at Elsie, signaling her to stay still with a single movement of his hand.

From the balcony, Elsie could feel an icy gaze trailing over her skin. Whether it was just her imagination or someone truly lurking out there in the darkness, she couldn't tell.

Pierce moved swiftly, closing the balcony curtains before looking at his phone again. His fingers typed something quickly before he took a deep breath.

Pierce didn't answer right away. He grabbed his coat and took Elsie's hand firmly, his fingers cold but reassuring. "I'm not sure... but I'm not taking any chances. We need to leave now."
