Chapter 27: Ch.27 : Dangerous Attraction
It turned out Eliz arrived at the gym first. Without wasting time, she went straight to the VIP room—a quiet, exclusive area that only those willing to pay extra for comfort could access. Inside, there were only a few people training.
As she opened the door, Eliz saw Rayn, the leader of the Deathly gang, lifting light dumbbells while staring blankly ahead. When he noticed her presence, he barely glanced at her before continuing.
"You feeling better?" Eliz asked, walking over and sitting beside him.
Rayn didn't answer. He just stared at the dumbbell in his hand with a sour expression before hurling it to the floor.
"You think I really lost to that damn kid?" he said bitterly.
Eliz sighed. "I don't know. I wasn't there. Maybe it was just a fluke."
Rayn clenched his fists, looking down. But before they could continue talking, the VIP room door opened again.
Nic walked in casually, having received a special access card from the front desk.
"Finally, some peace," he muttered under his breath. But his eyes soon locked onto Rayn and Eliz sitting together.
Rayn immediately stood up, his face tensing. "Eliz…" he murmured, voice shaking.
Eliz turned toward the door and instantly recognized who had arrived. Nic, unfazed, walked past them and headed straight for the pull-up bar.
Rayn gave a sly smirk from a distance. Eliz turned to him and said, "Let me handle this."
Rayn simply gave a faint smile.
"Careful. Don't go too far. If something happens to him, he might not come back to school," he said mockingly.
Eliz chuckled lightly and approached Nic, who was focused on his pull-ups.
"Training hard, huh? Even though your head just got cracked open?" she teased, arms crossed.
Nic stopped and looked at her plainly. "What do you want?"
Eliz smirked knowingly. "Just thought I'd give you a little 'gym lesson'. You don't mind, do you?"
Nic glanced briefly at Rayn, who was still watching smugly from afar. Without hesitation, he replied, "Whatever. I'll play along."
Eliz led Nic to a bench press machine and intentionally loaded it with 40 kilograms—a weight that could be challenging for someone inexperienced.
"I seriously have to lift this?" Nic asked.
Eliz gave a sweet, fake smile. "Relax, I'll spot you."
But just as Nic began lifting, Eliz suddenly pulled her hands away. The weights should have come crashing down on him—but instead, Eliz's eyes widened in shock. Nic had caught the bar with perfect control, stabilizing it and slowly lowering it while staring straight at her with an intense gaze.
"A pretty girl like you doesn't suit being a thug who looks down on others," he said flatly, but with a sharp edge.
Eliz felt insulted—and irritated. Without thinking, she struck at Nic. But he dodged smoothly and tapped the back of her neck with a swift, precise motion. Eliz's body instantly went weak, nearly collapsing, but she managed to stay upright.
Nic stood up and stared her down.
"I just came here to train. If you want a real fight, I'm ready anytime." Then he turned to Rayn with a scornful look.
"And you… what a coward."
Rayn clenched his fists, his face flushing red with rage. Meanwhile, Nic turned away without another word and left the VIP room, choosing to train in the more crowded public area instead.
Eliz sat silently, rubbing the back of her neck. Her mind was spinning. "What kind of technique was that?" she whispered.
Rayn had always forbidden her from learning advanced combat techniques, telling her to focus on brute strength, combos, and dirty tricks. But what Nic just used was completely different. One precise tap, and she nearly lost control of her body.
"How is that possible…?" she sat in a daze until Rayn called her.
"Eliz? Hey, what's wrong?" Rayn asked, voice filled with suspicion.
But Eliz said nothing. Her thoughts were still tangled, her body still weak from that single move.
Rayn walked over and lightly patted her head. Startled, Eliz immediately jumped back and gave him an annoyed look.
"Are you going to fight that guy again?" she asked, eyeing him warily.
Rayn paused, his gaze blank yet full of vengeance.
"I'll definitely get my revenge… but I'll wait till he comes back to school. It'll be more satisfying that way. But wait for this evening... I've got a surprise."
Eliz sighed, then said seriously, "Rayn, I hate to admit this, but I don't think he's just some ordinary kid. You need to be careful. Don't do anything reckless."
Rayn's response was unexpected. He tugged her hair gently and gave her a sinister grin.
"You really think I'd lose twice? I'll use whatever it takes to crush him. That brat humiliated me, and I'm not letting it slide."

In another room, Nic was lifting lighter weights with a calm smile on his face. A middle-aged man walking by noticed the bandage on his head and stopped.
"What happened to your head? Got into a fight?" he asked.
Nic chuckled. "Ah, just a small accident. Nothing serious."
The man looked at him seriously. "Be careful. In this area, especially in the evenings, there are a lot of punks wandering around. They usually target people who look weak. Some are still in school, some aren't. They're not even afraid of the cops. So, don't go walking alone, especially if you're new around here."
Nic nodded and thanked him with a smile. But as he stepped outside, he noticed the sky had already darkened. He frowned slightly.
While walking home, the man's warning proved true. The road was lined with motorcycles, and several thugs were ganging up on random pedestrians. He even saw someone running away in tears as the group laughed cruelly.
"Hey! Isn't that the guy who fought with Boss Rayn?!" one of them—Greg—shouted.
Instantly, all eyes turned to Nic. They began to circle him with excited energy, until Rayn and Eliz arrived. The moment they appeared, the crowd went silent and greeted them with respectful bows.
Eliz spoke in a calm yet sarcastic tone, "Kids these days should really be home before dark, you know."
But Greg walked up to Nic with a wicked grin. "Hey, mind if I take one of your girls from that club of yours?"
Nic's rage exploded at those words. Without hesitation, he activated his God of War skill. His expression turned cold as he dashed forward, grabbed Greg's head, and smashed it hard against his knee. Greg's face hit with a brutal crack, and he dropped unconscious.
Everyone stood frozen. Nic stood tall, his gaze piercing through the crowd.
"If any of you have a problem with me, leave the club out of it," he said sharply.
Rayn, furious, ordered his gang to attack. But before the fight broke out, Nic discreetly used his transparent pistol to fire a Love Shoot at Eliz—no one noticed.
And then the brawl began. Empowered by his divine skill, Nic took on all of them without mercy. One by one, they fell to the ground. The place that was once filled with laughter now lay silent, bodies sprawled across the area.
Panting, Nic stood, pointing a shaky finger at Rayn. "You're next."
Inside, guilt gnawed at him. Once again, he had broken his promise not to cause worry for the people he cared about.
But suddenly, from behind, one of Deathly's members lunged at him with a knife. Before Nic could react, Eliz dashed forward, blocked the blade, and slammed the attacker to the ground.
Rayn was shocked. "Eliz?! What are you doing?!" he shouted.
Eliz turned to Nic, her eyes clear and full of conviction. She had made up her mind—she was on Nic's side, 100%.
Nic, surprised, could only smile softly.
"Why… why did she switch sides so fast?" he wondered silently.
