Chapter 7: Ch.7 : Queen Leona
That day, Nic's class was shaken by the arrival of a new student. A beautiful girl with long wavy hair walked into the classroom with an air of arrogance. Her aura radiated superiority, and every eye turned toward her.
"My name is Leona. But you may call me Queen Leona," she said with a tone full of pride.
"I don't have time to get to know commoners like you."
The whole class fell silent, unsure whether to be shocked, offended, or amused. Leona didn't care. She walked through the classroom, scanning for a seat, then stopped in front of Nic's desk.
"This spot looks comfortable. I'll be sitting here," she said in a commanding tone.
Nic frowned. "Sorry, but this is my seat."
Leona clapped her hands, and two tall bodyguards entered the classroom. One of them grabbed Nic's bag and casually threw it out the window. Nic glanced at the teacher, hoping for help, but the teacher simply shook their head with a helpless look.
"Her family is very influential in this school," a classmate whispered.
Leona ordered her bodyguards to clean the seat, then sat down gracefully. "So, where should this dog sit? The floor would do," she said with a mocking smile.
With his face red in anger, Nic left the classroom to retrieve his bag. Down at the schoolyard, he ran into Nia, who was on her way to the student council room.
"What happened, Nic?" Nia asked with concern.
Nic explained the whole situation, including how his bag was thrown out the window. Hearing that, Nia sighed deeply.
"Leona is tough to deal with. I've heard she was like this at her previous schools too. And her father practically owns half this school. He just made a huge donation for the school's renovation. Even I, as the student council president, have to be careful. But hang in there, okay?" Nia said as she gently patted Nic's cheek and gave him a quick kiss for encouragement.
Feeling slightly better, Nic returned to class. He fetched a desk and chair from the storage room and chose to sit in the far back, away from Leona. During the lunch break, Leona caused another scene.
"Hey, all of you! Go buy me food. Now!" she shouted loudly.
But this time, the other students ignored her demand, especially since her bodyguards had been called by the principal. Only Nic remained in the class, and Vivi had come to pick him up. Just before they left, Leona called out to him.
"Hey you, go buy me lunch," she ordered again, this time more desperate.
Nic looked at her and flatly refused. "Not interested," he said, walking off with Vivi.
Leona could only huff in frustration. Deep down, she vowed to tell her father about all of this.
---
When Nic returned to class before the bell rang, he saw Leona with her face down on her desk, seemingly asleep. Quietly, Nic placed a lunch box on her desk, then went back to his seat. Leona woke up, saw the box, and opened it.
"Who left this?" she asked sharply.
Nic only shrugged. "Maybe your bodyguards."
Leona scoffed. "As if a commoner would dare."
Nic didn't respond and waited for the bell to ring.
---
After school, Leona's bodyguards returned and whispered something in her ear. Her expression instantly turned red with anger. She slapped one of them hard.
"Why didn't you tell me this wasn't from my father?!"
The bodyguard simply bowed his head in fear. Leona walked to the shoe lockers and stood there alone.
"Why can't Dad come home even just once..." she muttered quietly.
Nic, passing by, heard her whisper from behind the lockers. "Was the food good?" he asked suddenly.
Leona froze, startled by his voice.
Nic continued, "You're just a spoiled girl who's lonely. I know you're lacking affection, so you try to fill it by acting like a queen. But deep down, you just want someone to care... though you're doing it the wrong way."
Nic had learned this from his phone system.
"Shut up! You don't know anything about me!" Leona shouted.
Nic smiled slightly. "I like girls who stay strong even when they hide their true selves. And I like you, Leona."
Before Leona could respond, Nic had already walked away. She stood frozen, tears slowly streaming down her cheeks.
"Stupid... idiot," she muttered softly.
