Cursed to level 1 with an Ego weapon

When I played the game, I found the town destroyed the first time I reached it. It was the first time I saw it like that. In my other three saves, the place was in a normal state.

But that gave me an objective: help rebuild and hunt down the cult that managed to cause the massacre.

Once the town was safe, I started to search for the leaders of the cult. I had to grind my stats up because they usually summoned high-level demons and beasts that they could control. It took several in-game months (and real-life hours to days) to finally get to the last of the members.

The status of the faction in my journal was confirmed as destroyed, so I suppose their threat was done.

And the town had been slowly returning to normal, and by that time, it became what it is right now.

It was from them that I got the [Crimson Medallion of the Rapture]. That item's enchantments are of no use to me, but I need to keep it close.

The item is good for a build that uses scythes for combat, the Bloodsucker is amazing for recovering HP with melee attacks, and the change of damage to 50% Chaos is amazing as that is a non-elemental magic type that is rare to obtain.

But Amber is a mage, and I invested in her stats and skills to make it so. Increasing just 1 point takes too long, and I have no intention of making her go through melee.

It feels weird that I say Amber in third person.

I am her after all, aren't I?

But my real name is...

...huh?

Why can't I remember my name...?

"HALT!"

A voice takes me out of it.

I am in front of the gate to the palace. A big ornate gate lies in front of me. It has a golden finish on the edges.

I somehow zoned out and got here.

"My name is Amber. I am here to meet the princess; she asked for my presence." I say, returning to myself.

"Ah... excuse me, Miss Amber. I did not recognize you. It has been a while, hasn't it?" The man says.

He is wearing armor, but he seems much more armored than the rest. He must outrank the rest of the guards of the city, probably because he serves in the palace.

And he seems to know me... I don't, I have a bad memory remembering the names of non-important NPCs...

"Yes, have been exploring the dungeons." I hope he doesn't ask me to remember him. "It has been a while since I came here."

For me, it was just a few hours... But that is weeks to months in this game.

I am allowed in with no issues. I have the weird instinct to hold Bloodless in my hand. I can taste something in my mouth as I go in. But I have no clue what.

The hall is bigger than I expected. In the game, it was big, but I feel small in here.

There are some guards and maids here, cleaning.

I am asked to wait in the entrance hall, and someone goes to inform the princess.

Not so long after, a beautiful maid with long black hair approaches me.

"Excuse me, my lady. I am meant to guide you to your room." She bows to me. "I will be caring for your needs during your stay."

Room? I was expecting to meet the princess.

Although having a maid caring for my needs...

"Ah... Is the princess busy?"

"Kind of... She asked me to show you where you will be staying for the night."

"Ah... T-thanks... I have someone waiting for me in a local inn, though..."

"We can arrange for someone to go look for them. Give me their description and we will send them a message." She kept a straight pose. "The princess insisted that you should stay in the palace for the night. She also asked if you have any allies, they should come with you."

That seems like a weird invitation.

While I follow her, I make plans for my next moves.

I will explain my situation to Kathrina...and I will see how things play out with the princess and the king.

Whatever they plan to ask me... chances are it's a quest if things work like the game.

I should figure out if there are other cases like mine. It is odd that I, from all the players, was the only one sent to their save file.

Getting isekaid and put into a new body must be something a mage should know about. Sounds like magic stuff.

And at the same time, I must recognize it. Even with the fear I felt for a moment today, I can feel excitement!

I am inside my favourite game! I have Godly level spells! I managed to kill a Young Dragon on my first day here!

I have all I need to just start a new life...

But what about my former life?

I will research what happened to me. Maybe I can find answers and then make a choice. But I cannot deny.

The prospect of a new life is enticing.

I can do what I want and be whatever I want.

"Your room, my lady. Call me if you have any requests." The maid says and bows to me, then leaves.

"Thanks! I will keep it in mind. Just remember about my friend." I give her a smile while I make my way in.

"Certainly. We will go look for her."

I step inside the bedroom.

My heart is beating with glee.

Whatever happens, I will confront it and see it through. This is how I have managed to live my life, and I intend to do it in my new one!
