Chapter 263: Chapter 263 Batman Unbelievable Allies
Previously, Tony Stark had reflected on the Washington incident involving Hydra Cobra branch and their use of nanite warheads.
This gave Tony the inspiration to enhance his armor.
This expedited his transition to using motion-sensor technology to remotely control his suits, skipping the second phase of armor upgrades, and advancing directly to the integration of man and machine.
However, compared to the fully realized nanotech armor showcased in Avengers: Endgame, the current nanotech armor Tony displayed was only a prototype.
While he could quickly equip the suit via the modified arc reactor on his chest, limitations in technology and era meant that the armor could only deploy certain weapons, such as lasers, bullets, and repulsor blasts—well-known and relatively straightforward forms of weaponry.
More complex armaments, like homing missiles, were still beyond the reach of his nanotech capabilities.
In other words, Tony had gained convenience but at the cost of reducing his weapon arsenal.
That said, Tony combat ability hadn't diminished on the contrary, it had significantly improved.
Although the nanotech armor restricted his use of advanced firearms, it allowed for seamless transitions to melee weapons. For instance, he could form shields for defense or attack opponents with nano-blades.
Additionally, inspired by Batman, Tony had begun studying martial arts over the past few months.
With his brilliant mind and access to advanced pharmaceuticals, he had quickly achieved a level of agility far beyond his previous capabilities.
As a result, the darkened Tony held more control and fought with greater ease in this battle.
This led to a deadlock in his fight against Cyborg.
Cyborg, who previously held the upper hand with superior abilities, found himself barely able to maintain an advantage.
Their battle was so intense that even the Chitauri soldiers dared not approach the battlefield.
The shockwaves from their offensive and defensive exchanges could effortlessly kill a Chitauri soldier.
However, despite being the most eye-catching fight at the moment, everyone understood that their battle wasn't going to determine the outcome of the larger conflict.
In the public eyes, the true decisive factor lay with Wonder Woman and Victor Von Doom, near the blue beam on Stark Tower rooftop helipad, which connected to the portal above.
Doom was struggling bitterly against Wonder Woman.
The Tesseract continued powering the portal, leaving Doom without access to its infinite energy reserves.
Without the Tesseract limitless energy, Doom current combat performance was far weaker than it had been over a week ago when he defected from Project Pegasus and fought his former Avengers teammates.
Even with his abilities to metalize his body and manipulate electricity, he struggled to last more than ten minutes against Wonder Woman.
A single divine strike sent Doom flying.
Wonder Woman flashed forward like a cannonball, appearing before Doom in an instant and driving him into the helipad with a crushing stomp.
"Heh…"
Blood trickled from the corner of Doom mouth. Taking Wonder Woman full-strength blow head-on, even in his metalized form, had left him in dire straits.
"Ha… ha… ha ha ha ha!"
Wonder Woman, standing on Victor Von Doom chest, held the tip of the Sword of Hephaestus just an inch away from piercing Doom eye and penetrating his brain.
Even with his metallic body, Doom couldn't withstand this sword.
"Close the portal," Wonder Woman commanded. "Victor, you have one chance."
"It too late!" Victor Von Doom laughed maniacally. "Earth is doomed!"
Without hesitation, the Sword of Hephaestus thrust through Doom head, splattering brain matter—red and white—yet none touched Wonder Woman.
With an expressionless face, Wonder Woman was not surprised by Doom response. Knowing the entire context with her full memories, she had anticipated his answer.
She had only asked to see if Victor Von Doom, the infamous Doctor Doom from the comics, would offer a different response when faced with the threat of death.
On the other side, in the apartment below the helipad, Anton, in his Batman persona, was searching for Loki, who had turned invisible.
Loki was silently moving around Anton, ready to strike at any moment with his scepter.
However, Loki was startled to find that Anton movements were adapting to his own shifts in position, as if he could see him.
"Have you had enough?" Anton gaze was fixed on the spot where Loki was hiding behind the couch.
"Your magic is indeed sophisticated," Anton said calmly.
"But if your invisibility is just about bending light, you can't escape my sight."
Batman suit was equipped with advanced thermal imaging, not to be underestimated.
Clearly, Loki had underestimated the power of technology.
In Thor view, magic is a form of science, but to Loki, who was arrogant and viewed Earth as a backward planet and humans as mere servants of the gods, the notion was preposterous.
What could servants create? Stone axes? Wooden knives? Even modern technology, to him, was just a small step beyond primitive tools.
The two worlds were not on the same level.
And now, Loki was being mocked by a native?
His face twisted in anger.
Hurt by Anton taunts and feeling humiliated, Loki fired an energy beam, which Anton countered with a laser blast from his suit, causing an explosion.
Loki figure appeared in another direction, and Anton quickly turned to look at him.
"Do you think you've won?" Loki pointed his scepter towards Manhattan behind him, smirking coldly.
"Look at your world it a mess. New York is just the beginning. Soon, the entire world will bow at my feet."
"That something you should ask yourself," Anton retorted.
"Loki, do you really think you've won?"
Loki face stiffened, then twisted in frustration, unable to comprehend where this man got the confidence to speak to him so boldly.
"Merely Chitauri cannot bring Earth to its knees," Anton declared.
"Is that all you have to say?" Loki laughed heartily.
"And on what basis do you look down upon the Chitauri? Because of those superheroes outside? They're barely managing to save themselves!"
"Is that so?" Anton responded calmly.
"I suggest you take another look."
Frowning, Loki glanced back involuntarily.
Suddenly, a massive green figure leaped from somewhere, vaulting over the rooftop of a building and crushing a Chitauri soldier in his hand.
Following closely, a humanoid lizard clambered onto the rooftop, whipping its tail and exploding another passing Chitauri soldier.
Beside the lizard, there was a humanoid rat about one meter tall—only a third the size of the lizard but still impressively large to a human observer.
The agile rat leaped down from the rooftop, kicking away another Chitauri soldier, seizing his flyer, and commandeering its energy gun to shoot down enemy after enemy.
Then, a figure engulfed in flames soared into the sky, followed by a man in strange battle attire, a muscular monster looking like he was made of stone, and a woman with a fiery figure surrounded by an invisible force field.
Most astonishingly, the previously overlooked darkened Harry met an incredible opponent head-on.
This was a man also on a flying skateboard, wearing a green armor suit, looking remarkably like a goblin.
Those familiar with him could immediately recognize him—it was the Green Goblin, once an adversary of Batman.
