Chapter 3: getting that drip

Huff.

I let out a breath as I lay on my back on the floor, completely drained of energy. I didn't have the strength left to even move. Gently, I wiped the blood from my nose—my first exposure to the consequences of overusing cursed techniques. It starts with a headache, then blood trickling from your nose and ears, and finally, if you push too far, it seeps from your mouth. That's when I stopped.

"Damn it," I muttered, instantly regretting it as my throat and mouth burned like a thousand red ants had bitten me.

Slowly, I turned my head to the side, a smile creeping onto my face as I saw pieces of my armor scattered around me. Mai's technique is truly incredible for creating items that don't exist in this world—like Titanium, a metal with properties that make it super durable and highly flexible. Yes, you heard that right. My entire Omen armor is made of Titanium. But the process was far from easy.

When I first started, I decided to make an iron sword. To create it, I had to visualize every property of the material, but the finished product wasn't what I wanted. I kept refining it until it was perfect. That's when I realized that to create something, I needed to understand how the material was formed, why it behaved the way it did, and all the other intricacies. After all that, I finally completed my armor. It only took me five days. I smiled at the thought.

Getting up slowly, I made my way toward the scattered armor pieces. After a couple of hours of carefully assembling them, I stepped back to admire the finished product. The armor was a majestic blend of black and blue, with a helmet featuring three jagged lines running straight down the front. Behind the helmet was a flowing dark hood with a cape attached. The gauntlets were designed to shift into claws if I wished, activated by a small amount of cursed energy. The boots were equipped with retractable spikes, perfect for unexpected terrain or combat. Lastly, there was a belt around my hips, designed to store small items.

After spending some time admiring my creation, I finally went to sleep. I had decided that tomorrow would be my first day of test-driving my suit and powers.

The Next Day

After coming back from school—yes, I do go to school. Why, you may ask, when I have millions of dollars in my bank account? Well, it's because of the degree. I want to go to college and get a business degree, something that could help me look more credible in front of investors. That was the plan before I got my powers—or system, as you might call it. Shaking my head, I made my way to my room. As I entered, I glanced at the clock: 4 PM. There was a lot to do—completing my homework, working on my Hollow Knight project, and now, adding another thing to my ever-growing list of tasks.

First things first. I needed to message the game team, letting them know I had something to do so they could move forward without any problems for a couple of days. I had already assigned them tasks, so they should be fine.

As for my school homework… I could do it later, I thought while making my way to my bed. Crouching down, I pulled out the Omen Armor from underneath it and began putting it on. The armor fit me perfectly, and surprisingly, it didn't feel heavy.

That might be because of the cursed energy flowing through my body, making me stronger and faster, I thought with a smirk.

Clap!

In an instant, I was teleported from my orphanage room to a forest near Central City. My eyes quickly scanned my surroundings, searching for any potential threats.

I had come here to infuse cursed energy into this area, allowing me to teleport freely. It worked like a marker—Tōdō's Cursed Technique: Boogie Woogie was great for short-distance travel, but for long-range teleportation, I needed to leave a mark. Without it, I could end up somewhere completely different from my intended destination.

Now, time to test my powers.
