DC: Starting with Superman’s Powers

Chapter 11: Newspaper Club Investigation

"Buzz!"

The silver Bugatti sports car zipped across the field like a streak of light, the scenery blurring past like flowing water.

Behind the wheel, Jino's expression was grim as he maneuvered the car.

Just minutes earlier, he had learned what happened from Clark.

His older brother had been attacked by Jeremy.

"Jeremy."

Jino gently turned the steering wheel, and a large bridge appeared in his sight.

Ambulances and crowds filled the bridge's edge, and Jino also saw the wrecked sports car that had been pulled ashore.

Thump!

Jino flung open the car door, quickly pushed through the crowd, and saw Lex, wrapped in a red thermal blanket, and Clark.

Several police officers were currently gathered around the two, asking about the incident.

Before Jino even got close, he heard Lex's voice: "It was just a normal car accident. I didn't see the road clearly and crashed off the highway bridge."

Lex chose to conceal the existence of supernatural beings.

On the other side, Clark, sitting silently on a heap of rubble by the shore, silently assented to Lex's explanation.

If they were to say: This car accident was caused by a supernatural being.

Then people would only think the two of them had concussions and were crazy.

"Lex, are you okay?" Jino walked over to Lex, giving Clark a nod of gratitude at the same time.

Without Clark, his older brother might very well have been in serious trouble.

Jino walked up to Lex, patted his cheap older brother's shoulder, and whispered, "I'll find that guy, brother."

"Let's talk more about this later," Lex said, giving Clark a meaningful glance, his peripheral vision sweeping over his wrecked sports car.

Can an ordinary person rip off a car's roof?

"Clark!"

Not far away, Jonathan, having heard the news, ran down the dirt path by the bridge.

The middle-aged man's face was tense. Seeing Clark sitting on a rock, Jonathan rushed forward, his hands gripping Clark's shoulders.

He said excitedly, "Son, are you alright?"

Clark looked into his father's eyes, feeling his concern. Clark felt a warm current flow through him and smiled, shaking his head. "I'm fine, Dad."

After confirming Clark was okay, Jonathan sighed in relief, but at the same time, he angrily turned to the town police officer taking statements: "Who was the crazy driver?!"

"That would be me, Mr. Jonathan."

"Lex Luthor."

Lex stood up, looking intently at Jonathan. "Mr. Jonathan, I'm very grateful your son saved me."

Jonathan's gaze swept over Lex, then he pursed his lips. The middle-aged man opened his mouth and said, "Perhaps you should drive more slowly."

"I will. Thank you again, Clark, for saving my life." Lex's gaze fell on Clark's youthful face.

"It's nothing. I believe you would do the same thing if it were you," the future Superman said earnestly, looking up at Lex.

"Mr. Jonathan." Jino took a step forward.

This also made Jonathan notice Jino.

The man's gaze swept over Jino.

Golden hair, handsome features. If he guessed correctly, this guy was Clark's new friend from yesterday, the crazy kid who sped and crashed into a school bus.

His first impression was terrible, but good manners still made Jonathan stiffly nod. "Jonathan Kent, this is my son Clark Kent. I believe you've already met."

"Indeed, Clark is an excellent friend. I see your family's values in him," Jino said with graceful poise, nodding slightly, and continuing the conversation, "May I invite you to Luthor Manor?"

"You saved my brother's life. Perhaps we could offer you some recompense…"

Jino's words were cut off by Jonathan. The middle-aged man shook his head, helping Clark stand up as he said, "I don't need your recompense. Kindness is an act that comes from the heart."

"If I may," Jonathan walked beside Jino, turning his head to look at the young man's profile, "I hope you can tell your brother to drive slower next time."

After saying this, Jonathan left with Clark.

"Swish, swish."

The river flowed nearby. Lex walked up to Jino, watching Jonathan and his son. "Noble characters."

"Indeed." Jino sighed with a complex expression, then shook his head. "Lex, stay at the manor for now. I'll find Jeremy and kill him as soon as possible."

Just as he had always thought since childhood, anyone who dared to harm his family must pay a heavy price.

Jeremy had to die. Not even Jesus could save him!

"No, Jino, I want you to capture him alive."

To Jino's surprise, Lex requested that he capture him alive.

"Uh…" Jino looked at Lex's eyes with a strange expression, but his older brother's face was serious; he didn't seem to be joking.

I just made that promise. Is Lex doing this on purpose?

"So, you mean you want to…"

Lex nodded.

Jino's mind raced, and he quickly guessed Lex's intention.

His older brother probably wanted to use Jeremy as a guinea pig.

"Fine, I'll try to capture him alive." Jino sighed, already thinking about how to find clues about Jeremy.

More than ten years ago, that guy was treated like a scarecrow in high school, and in their previous phone call, he had been talking incessantly about revenge.

As he pondered, a flash of inspiration struck Jino.

"I'm heading back to school first." Jino didn't have time to explain to Lex. He immediately walked back to his sports car and drove back to school.

Back at the high school, Jino pulled over a student and asked for the location of the School Newspaper Club, then hurried to the club office.

Schools like the small-town high school practiced a relaxed educational approach, so there was a wide variety of clubs unrelated to academics.

For example, the football club, basketball games, and so on.

The School Newspaper Club was located in a room on the right corner of the first floor of the main teaching building, a room that had been repurposed from a storage room.

When Jino pushed the door open and walked in, he saw countless news clippings plastered all over the walls.

"Jino?"

Seeing Jino burst into the room so impetuously, Chloe, who was hunched over the computer processing documents, was a little surprised. Little Pete, with his dark skin, asked curiously, "You skipped gym class. Coach is really mad."

"Doesn't matter." Jino shook his head, then walked over to Chloe and patted her shoulder. His large blue eyes seriously fixed on Chloe. "Chloe, I need your help!"

"Ah, oh, oh, okay, okay." Chloe looked down flustered, avoiding Jino's gaze, while casually smoothing the short hair by her ear. "What do you need me to help you with?"

Pete, watching this scene from the side, couldn't help but show an expression of disappointment, as if seeing iron fail to become steel. However, he quickly stood next to Jino, intending to watch the drama unfold.

Jino ignored Pete, stroking his chin as he said, "Help me find someone. He was probably a former student of this school. His name is Jeremy Kree."
