Divine Necromancer : Cultivating Life & Death

Chapter 18: 18

Samael didn't answer any of Felix's questions. Instead, his golden eyes remained locked onto Ashton, studying him intently.

A heavy silence filled the room.

Then, without even glancing at Felix, Samael finally spoke.

"What kind of friend are you, Mr. Ashford?" His voice was calm, yet sharp. "You left your weak friend all alone."

Felix's eyes flashed with anger, but before he could respond, Samael had already begun moving.

With calculated steps, he walked toward the bed, his overwhelming presence pressing against Ashton.

Stopping just beside him, Samael lowered his gaze and spoke in a quieter, more personal tone.

"Sorry for bringing you here without your permission," he said. "But I felt a strong connection to you ever since your Awakening process."

Ashton stiffened slightly, his mind racing.

"I knocked on your door, but you didn't answer," Samael continued, his expression unreadable. "So I had no choice but to step in."

He tilted his head slightly, observing Ashton's reaction.

"And judging by the state you were in, I'd say my interference was necessary."

His voice dropped slightly, his words laced with something unspoken.

"Don't you understand how terrible this world is? You're newly Awakened, yet you—"

Samael's eyes darkened.

"You have no idea what kind of danger you're in."

Ashton's face flushed as Samael closed the distance between them, his golden eyes holding an intensity that made his heart race. A strange warmth spread through him, but he quickly forced himself to regain control.

What is this feeling? he wondered.

Yet, the real shock came when he noticed something in Samael's expression—an almost imperceptible hesitation, a flicker of something akin to recognition or… attraction?

"Does he feel it too?" Ashton thought, but before he could dwell on it, the moment was shattered.

Felix immediately stepped between them, his blue eyes burning with frustration.

"Enough," he growled. "Samael Flameheart, stay the hell away from my friend. I don't know what twisted game you're playing, but I won't let you drag him into it."

Samael's lips curled into a smirk, unbothered by Felix's aggression. His golden eyes gleamed with amusement.

"Mr. Ashford," he drawled lazily, "please, save that attitude for my brother."

Felix's expression froze.

Samael turned slightly, his smirk deepening as he gestured toward the door.

"Speaking of which… he's right there."

A strong, commanding aura filled the room as a tall figure stepped forward.

Noah Flameheart.

The moment Felix locked eyes with him, his whole demeanor shifted. His anger stumbled, his breath hitched ever so slightly.

Samael chuckled, clearly enjoying the change.

"Brother," he said smoothly, "would you be so kind as to take this little puppy out for a few minutes? He needs some fresh air."

Felix's entire body tensed at those words, but it wasn't because of Samael anymore.

It was because of Noah Flameheart, who was now standing directly in front of him.
