Chapter 5: Present Day Aurora
Aurora is a land divided. Half of its territory has fallen to monsters and demons, turning it into a nightmarish wasteland where only the strongest can survive. The other half remains under human control, separated by a powerful magical barrier. This barrier, maintained by elite mages, serves as the last defense against the endless tide of creatures that threaten humanity's existence. Soldiers and hunters fight relentlessly, their battles never truly ending.
Humanity itself is fragmented across seven continents, each struggling against the darkness. Those who have undergone Awakening—gaining supernatural abilities—are known as Hunters. To regulate their power and maintain order, the World Hunter Association was established, with each continent housing its own Hunter Association, alongside powerful guilds and organizations that enforce law and stability.
Among these continents, Aurelia stands as one of the strongest, ruled by the Aurelia Hunter Association and the Flameheart Guild. The guildmaster, Draven Flameheart, is a hybrid dragon and the most powerful warrior in the continent. His wife, Rose Flameheart, is a human mage of great renown. Alongside the Flameheart Guild, four other major guilds hold immense power: the Reaper Guild, Angel Guild, Moonlight Guild, and Iron Guild. Numerous smaller guilds and organizations also operate within Aurelia, competing for influence and survival.
Aurelia is home to Xerth Academy, the most prestigious and powerful academy on the continent. Every Awakened individual is required to attend three years of training at the academy, as mandated by the World Hunter Association. Upon completing their training, they must then serve two years in the military, defending the borders from external threats. This rule applies to everyone, regardless of status—even the children of the most powerful guilds and organizations. Ashton Walker is no exception.
At Xerth Academy, credits serve as the primary currency.( In whole world credits and mana stones used as currency.)The first six months, including the admission process, provide free basic food and lodging for all students. However, for those who rank in the top 25, everything changes—their treatment, resources, and opportunities vastly improve, setting them apart from the rest.
In this world, strength dictates everything—and only the strongest will thrive.
