Chapter 7: Chapter 6: Shrek City! Admission!
Yuhao and the other two had spent the night at the forest outskirts, camping there since it was already evening by the time they finished obtaining soul rings for Tang Ya and Yuhao. The journey to Shrek City would take several hours, so they had decided to rest first.
Now standing before Shrek City's gates, they faced tall majestic white walls surrounding the city. They entered through one of the four main gates on the sides of the city, bypassing identity checks since Tang Ya and Bei Bei were Shrek students, and Yuhao gained entry by association.
"Little Yuhao! Welcome to Shrek City!" Tang Ya cheered as they stepped inside amid the strange looks from a few passerbys.
'Quite large. Not as impressive as some normal cities in my world, but respectable and understandable for an academy city,' Electrolux commented. 'Old man—I mean Mr. Electrolux—did you regain your memories?' Skydream asked. 'This old man has only regained fragments. This lightning is truly miraculous. Within a few months, I should recover most if not all of my divine consciousness,' Electrolux marveled at both the lightning's power and Yuhao's incredible luck.
While the two in his head conversed, Yuhao took in the cityscape, this was truly a novel experience for him who had never been to a prosperous place before.
The area they were in, the commercial district was bustling—not dirty, but crowded with numerous stalls. Shops lined the streets, including several selling soul guides. As they approached the academy itself, two words came to mind: massive and extravagant.
"Junior Brother Yuhao, even with a recommendation letter, you'll need to take an assessment," Bei Bei explained. "It's mainly to evaluate your current level. You'll be admitted regardless thanks to the quota, but this helps the academy understand your capabilities better and maybe invest in you earlier."
"Got it, Perverted Brother," Yuhao replied, making Bei Bei's eye twitch. Yuhao had called him that since yesterday. Tang Ya remained curious about the reason, but neither boy would explain, Bei Bei as he was too embarassed and Yuhao because he wouldn't betray his Perverted Senior.
"Senior Bei Bei!" greeted the receptionist, a black-haired boy about fifteen years old. "Junior Zheng, please assess Huo Yuhao here. He's using the Tang Sect quota," Bei Bei said as Tang Ya handed over the recommendation letter.
"Alright! Little brother, please test your soul power and show me your martial soul," Zheng instructed as he pointed to the Soul Power testing soul guide that was definitely more advanced than the portable one Tang Ya had used. Bei Bei's smile turned slightly—no, extremely—mischievous.
Yuhao placed his hand on the soul guide and channeled his soul power into it. "Level 24! Impressive for your age," Zheng remarked, recording the result before asking Yuhao to demonstrate his martial soul.
"My martial soul is Spirit Eyes," Yuhao said as his eyes glowed faintly and two purple soul rings rose from his feet and rotated around him.
"Wha—...Huh?! HUH?!" Zheng's eyes widened to saucer-size at the unprecedented sight of two purple first rings.
"Purple?!" he exclaimed in shock, this was never seen before! Is this kid even Human?!
"Yes? May I proceed?" Yuhao asked patiently. Zheng nodded dumbfoundedly and dazed as Yuhao followed Bei Bei to the next testing area, Tang Ya waving goodbye to the still-stunned Zheng as they entered the combat examination zone.

"WHAT THE HELL?!"
____
"Hello! I'm Huo Yuhao, here for the combat test," Yuhao announced to his examiner, a fierce yet beautiful young girl around 16 or 17, a senior named Gu Nian.
"I'm Gu Nian, your combat examiner. Please introduce yourself and state your soul power level," she said directly without beating around the bush.
"Huo Yuhao, martial soul Spirit Eyes, Level 24 Soul Grandmaster."
"Gu Nian, martial soul Wind King Red Eagle, Level 41 Soul Ancestor, a sixth-year student," she responded. Level 41 was strong for her age—outside Shrek, she'd be considered a genius in the Three Kingdoms, but here in Shrek she was merely a good student, as the minimum requirement for Shrek Outer Courtyard Students to graduate was to reach the 4th Ring by their sixth year which, she had indeed done and judging by her age, she had just reached the sixth year.
"I won't hold back. You'll be evaluated on how long you last against my attacks and your combat performance, don't expect mercy," she explained as two yellow and two purple soul rings appeared.
"Begin in 3...2...1!" She activated her martial soul, fiery red wings sprouting from her back as she lunged at Yuhao at a very fast speed.
Yuhao stood motionless, making Gu Nian feel a bit disappointed and think he was frozen in fear—until she passed straight through his form. A sudden headache blurred her vision, and she found herself face-down on the ground with Yuhao sitting on her back, glowing eyes holding a white dagger to her neck.
What happened? The moment he entered the Arena, Yuhao had activated his second soul skill, masking his soul rings with illusions to seem he didn't activate his Martial Soul. The moment the match began and Gu Nian charged at the illusionary duplicate he made that moment, the real Yuhao had approached her dazed form in reality and subdued her with his Level 4 White Tiger Dagger at her throat.
Gu Nian stood with Yuhao's help about to say something and was then stunned speechless when she finally saw his two purple soul rings. She pursed her lips and patted his shoulder. "Full marks," she muttered before walking away briskly—too embarrassed to run but moving at nearly running speed.
"Poor Gu Nian," Bei Bei sighed from the sidelines with a mock sadness. "Defeated so effortlessly and quickly by Junior Brother Yuhao."
Tang Ya gave Bei Bei a strange look at his comment. "Bei Bei, you're only Level 38..." she reminded him while hiding a smile.
Bei Bei froze in realisation. Oh Shit!—this novice he'd been teaching basic knowledge could actually defeat him?!
