"Hahaha! Sorry, sorry! I didn't really think this through," Goku chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. "I just got so fired up about training with Luya that I went into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber again!"
He opened his hands with a sheepish grin and said, "So… we'll call it even, yeah?"
"Hmph," Vegeta snorted, choosing not to argue. He shifted his attention toward Luya, sizing him up silently.
Luya gave Vegeta a calm glance and nodded slightly. "Nice to meet you, Vegeta."
Vegeta's mouth twitched at the corners, then he closed his eyes, arms crossed, and replied with cool confidence, "Luya, right? Don't you dare disgrace the pride of the Saiyans. Smash the Sixth Universe without mercy!"
Luya's lips curled into a grin. "Wouldn't dream of anything less."
"Are you the Saiyan Goku mentioned?" a new voice chimed in deep, sharp, and filled with authority.
Beerus, God of Destruction of Universe 7, had walked over with narrowed eyes.
Luya gave a respectful nod. "That's me."
Beerus narrowed his golden pupils slightly, inspecting him. "Which universe are you from? I can't sense any universal ki from you."
"Universal ki?" Luya tilted his head in confusion. "What's that supposed to mean?"
The system in Luya's mind responded calmly:
System: "Host, the 'power of the universe' refers to the innate energy signature that beings carry from their birth universe. It's like a spiritual identification code, proof that you belong to a specific universe."
Luya processed that, then asked inwardly, So what's the point of this cosmic energy?
System: "The power of the universe is fundamentally tied to the hierarchy of cosmic balance. It's rooted in the same primal origin as the 'Power of Destruction,' wielded by Gods of Destruction like Beerus. Every living thing born in a universe carries this universal energy, making them subject to their respective God of Destruction's authority. Should a being go too far astray, their universal energy can be forcibly detonated—resulting in absolute erasure."
Luya's eyes flickered in thought. "Wait, that applies to anyone?"
System: "Yes—everything. From microorganisms to mortals, plants, animals, entire planets, star systems, even galaxies. This governing force ensures all things remain under divine jurisdiction. The God of Destruction is judge, jury, and executioner."
Luya's lips tightened. No wonder the God of Destruction carries so much fear. Even with all the training in ki and divine power... the gulf is still massive.
System: "However, if someone's power surpasses even the destructive energy of a God of Destruction, they can resist and even slay a god. But you, Host, lack any universal signature. That's why Beerus finds you so suspicious."
Luya gave a subtle nod.
"You don't need to understand what the Power of the Universe is," Beerus snapped, catching himself. "Just tell me who the hell you really are."
Luya's tone didn't waver. He smiled faintly and replied, "It doesn't matter who I am. All you need to know is that I'm a Saiyan. I won't threaten the balance of the universe. Isn't that what matters most?"
Beerus stared him down, eyes burning with suspicion. Luya met his gaze evenly, not blinking or backing down.
Both Goku and Vegeta were taken aback. Was Luya... challenging Lord Beerus?
This guy's got guts! Goku thought, impressed.
"Tch." Beerus grunted, lowering his hand slightly. "I don't care where you came from. But if I find out you're a threat to this universe... I'll erase you without hesitation."
He lifted his arm toward Luya his fingers spread, and a swirling aura of purple destructive energy radiated from his palm.
"Lord Beerus..." Goku's expression shifted, concern flashing in his eyes. He hesitated, unsure whether to step in.
Whis, who stood nearby, simply observed the scene with his usual serene smile. He didn't intervene.
Luya showed no fear at all. He didn't believe Beerus would actually strike, especially knowing that Beerus likely assumed Luya was unaware that he couldn't be destroyed without possessing universal energy—what Whis once described as the innate ki signature tied to one's universe of origin.
With a faint, knowing smile, Luya said, "Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction… You ask mortals and gods alike to revere you, and to respect divine power. But I've done nothing to provoke you, have I?"
Beerus paused for a moment, slightly caught off guard. Then, regaining his composure, he responded coolly, "Maybe not directly. But your attitude is so bold, so casual, it's clear you lack the reverence I deserve."
Luya remained calm and answered evenly, "When you throw a Hakai blast in someone's face, it's a little difficult to respond with humility, wouldn't you agree?"
Beerus narrowed his eyes. Something about Luya annoyed him deeply. It wasn't just the defiance, he was used to that from Goku. But Goku was simple, straightforward. Luya, on the other hand, had a composed, calculating presence, and yet like Goku—he showed absolutely no fear of a God of Destruction.
Why? Did he somehow know that without universal energy, Hakai wouldn't affect him properly? But that couldn't be, Luya clearly didn't even fully grasp what the Power of the Universe was. Or was it just reckless confidence?
"Hey! Lord Beerus!" Goku suddenly interjected, stepping forward with a grin. "Luya's the guy I recruited for the tournament, remember? Don't scare him off!"
Vegeta, standing nearby with arms crossed, added firmly, "Yes, Lord Beerus. Luya's arrogance aside, he's unfamiliar with your presence and status. There's no need to escalate this."
Both Saiyans remembered all too well what had happened the last time Beerus lost his temper—when he threatened to destroy Earth over pudding. They couldn't let that happen again.
Beerus snorted sharply. "Tch." With a dismissive flick of his hand, he turned and walked away. "Fine. I won't bother with you for now. But this time, we must defeat Universe 6. And if we lose the Earth because of this… I will erase you all."
"Haha! Don't worry, Lord Beerus!" Goku laughed, attempting to ease the tension. "We won't lose this time!"
Whis, standing with his usual serenity, then spoke, "The match begins tomorrow. Are you three fully prepared?"
Goku nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! We've trained enough. We're good to go!"
Vegeta and Luya also gave subtle nods in agreement.
Luya then turned his eyes toward Whis and Beerus. Quietly, he activated his system's combat scan to gauge their power levels. However, doubt gnawed at him—what if the system couldn't accurately read deities of their tier?
Just then, a familiar system chime echoed in his mind.
[Ding! Detection complete: Beerus, God of Destruction – Combat Power at peak First-Tier Angel level!]
[Ding! Detection complete: Whis – Combat Power at Second-Tier Angel level!]
Luya's eyes widened slightly. He was stunned, and murmured to himself, "Angel? What level of power is that supposed to be?"
The system replied matter-of-factly: "Host, you're currently far below the threshold for even a First-Tier Angel. You have a long way to go. Start grinding."
Luya grimaced. "You really didn't have to say it like that…"
Still, the implications were clear: Beerus was far more powerful than he had imagined. Until now, he had assumed that Goku and Vegeta, having attained Super Saiyan Blue, were nearing the level of a God of Destruction. But that was evidently wishful thinking. Even with Super Blue, they couldn't match Beerus—not yet. Luya estimated their current battle power capped around 20 trillion, while Beerus operated in a completely different realm.
That realization left Luya both awed and confused. In his original world, fans always debated Beerus' ranking among the Gods of Destruction some said he was among the strongest. But now, facing the raw data himself, Luya knew Beerus stood at the pinnacle of First-Tier Angel power, dangerously close to Whis himself.
As for the other Gods of Destruction… who could say? Maybe some rivaled Beerus. Maybe others fell short. But their exact power levels remained a mystery for now.
