Dragon Ball Super: Exposed! I'm a super saiyan

Chapter 28: CHAPTER 28

c28: The Strongest Monaka?

Luya had gained a lot of insight—damn it! The requirement to reach God of Destruction-level strength wasn't in the trillions, it was in the hundreds of billions and beyond! According to what the system just told him, Luya's current full power even when using Kaio-Ken x15 on top of Super Saiyan Blue would barely place him in the tens of trillions range. Still nowhere near the level required to face a God of Destruction like Beerus head-on.

"Should I keep a low profile for now?" Luya muttered to himself, considering the gap.

Weiss suddenly spoke up, hands behind his back: "It appears Champa and his team have already finished constructing the arena. Shall we head over?"

Beerus blinked in surprise. "Oh? Already? Where is it? Don't tell me it's in Universe 6?"

Weiss chuckled lightly. "No, of course not. The arena is located on Neutral Ground, a barren planet created specifically for this event by the Grand Minister, with no life forms or atmosphere. The entire ring was built atop its surface."

Beerus nodded thoughtfully. "I see. In that case, let's get going." He then turned to Goku. "Hey, go gather the others and bring them here."

Goku nodded quickly and stepped forward, preparing to teleport.

"Wait! Are you going off-planet? Can I come too?" Bulma suddenly ran over, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Beerus narrowed his eyes at her. "Why would you come? This isn't a field trip."

"Hey, Bulma! Don't cause trouble," Vegeta said sternly, a bead of sweat rolling down his temple.

Bulma huffed and placed a hand on her hip. "Oh my, don't be such a bore! There's nothing that says we can't bring spectators! What's the fun in having a big multiverse battle without an audience?"

Everyone went silent for a moment.

Weiss tilted his head, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Hmm… She's not entirely wrong. Watching such a match unfold without any onlookers would feel rather anticlimactic."

"See?" Bulma said, giving a playful wink.

"Hmph. Do whatever you want," Beerus muttered, folding his arms with a frown. "But you'd better not distract anyone. And don't lose!"

Bulma giggled. "Relax, Lord Beerus. I just want a front-row seat!"

She turned to Goku. "Make sure you grab Chi-Chi, Gohan, and the others too."

Goku paused, then smiled brightly. "Got it!"

He placed his index and middle finger on his forehead, gathering energy signatures.

"Wait by the way, Lord Beerus," Goku said, suddenly curious. "Where's that Monaka guy you mentioned before? You said he was your trump card. Can we meet him?"

Beerus's face twitched. He visibly stiffened.

Luya: "…"

Monaka? That name rang a bell. Wasn't he just a deliveryman from Planet Wagashi? From what Luya remembered from the Dragon Ball Super manga, Monaka had no real power at all. Beerus, for some reason, had lied and hyped him up as the strongest warrior to motivate Goku and Vegeta to train harder. And the crazy thing was Goku actually bought it!

"Idiot!" Beerus snapped, face turning red. "Go get the others first! Monaka's still on his way!"

Goku blinked in confusion, but nodded and vanished in an instant using Instant Transmission.

As soon as he left, Beerus let out a sigh of relief.

"Hoho," Weiss chuckled, smiling slyly. "Lord Beerus, do you really intend to bring Monaka to the tournament? As far as I know, he's just a simple interplanetary deliveryman. His combat ability is practically zero."

"What?!" Vegeta's face contorted. "A deliveryman? Then… Lord Beerus, why on Earth did you claim he's some unbeatable warrior?!"

Beerus gave him a sidelong glance and scoffed. "Obviously, I was lying to Goku."

"Lying to Kakarot?!" Everyone except Luya was stunned.

"Why would you do that?" Bulma asked, confused.

Beerus said arrogantly, arms folded and his tail flicking with impatience: "Of course I lied to give that guy a goal! Goku is too unpredictable. Right now, there are hardly any opponents left for him in Universe 7. But if one day that idiot sets his sights on someone from another universe Master Whis, don't you think he'll cause a whole mess of trouble for us in Universe 7?!"

Upon hearing this, everyone finally understood the reasoning behind Beerus's deception.

Luya, however, had a different perspective. After all, right now Goku already saw him Luya as a worthy rival. As long as that remained the case, Goku wouldn't feel the urge to seek new adversaries across the multiverse. At least not anytime soon.

Even though Luya had yet to attain Super Saiyan Blue, his mastery of Kaio-Ken up to twenty times over his base Super Saiyan God gave him a power output roughly comparable to Super Saiyan Blue at least momentarily. That made him enough of a challenge to keep Goku's attention.

"You must keep this matter a secret," Beerus warned firmly. "If he finds out the truth, it'll be a disaster."

Everyone nodded without hesitation, understanding that the stability of the team and maybe even the Earth depended on the ruse.

"What are you talking about, Lord Beerus?" came a familiar, curious voice from nearby.

Huh?

In the next moment, a familiar group appeared via Instant Transmission, led by none other than Goku.

Krillin, Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha, Chi-Chi, Master Roshi, Majin Buu, Mr. Satan… the whole gang had shown up.

Goku blinked and looked toward Beerus. "Lord Beerus, what were you just saying?"

Beerus's face twitched ever so slightly, but he quickly masked his panic and redirected the topic. "Ah what I meant was that Monaka shouldn't fight unless absolutely necessary. He's our trump card, so he must be saved for last."

Goku scratched his head, a little confused. "Oh? That makes sense! Monaka must be really something, huh? So where is he?"

Beerus glanced toward Whis.

Whis smiled knowingly and lightly tapped the base of his scepter. In an instant, a swirl of divine light appeared, and a strange figure materialized in the clearing.

The figure had long ears and a disproportionately large head atop a small body. It looked nothing like a martial artist more like a clumsy office worker or a delivery clerk.

"Oh! You must be Monaka! Hello nice to meet you!" Goku said excitedly, rushing forward with his hand extended.

But before Goku could reach him, Beerus swiftly struck the Saiyan on the head with a thump, making Goku wince in pain.

Beerus scolded, "Don't be so enthusiastic! Monaka has a... shortcoming. He's extremely shy around strangers. If you scare him, he might lose control and if he does, he could accidentally destroy the Earth. You got that?"

Everyone: "…"

Monaka: "???"

What's going on? he thought in confusion. One minute he was delivering packages for Planet Wagashi's courier service, and now he was standing on Earth surrounded by unfamiliar people… although he did spot a few familiar faces.

"Lord Beerus!" Monaka said nervously as he spotted the God of Destruction. He stepped forward and was about to bow.

Snap!

In a flash, Beerus grabbed Monaka by the back of the neck and quickly whispered a flurry of warnings into his ear.

Goku and the others watched in bewilderment, unable to hear what was being said. Only Piccolo narrowed his eyes slightly, a cold bead of sweat rolling down his face as he watched the exchange.

Monaka, for his part, was trembling. He nodded, shook his head, then nodded again as Beerus gave him rapid instructions.

After about thirty seconds, Beerus finally released him.

Monaka looked hesitant, clearly confused and overwhelmed, but obediently kept silent.

"Hey, Lord Beerus," Goku asked, tilting his head, "what did you just say to Monaka?"

Beerus remained calm. "Nothing serious. I just told him about your personality and asked him not to be intimidated by you. He's a bit... sensitive."

"Oh! Thanks for that!" Goku laughed cheerfully.

Meanwhile, Piccolo, Vegeta, and the others exchanged uneasy glances. The corners of their mouths twitched, but none of them dared to say anything. The lie had to hold for the sake of the team.

"Enough talk," Beerus said with a sigh. "Time to move out! Let's meet Universe 6."

He deliberately stepped in front of Monaka, blocking Goku, who looked like he was about to strike up another conversation.

"Alright, then. Let's be off," Whis added with a graceful smile. With a wave of his staff, a sphere of light expanded around them.

In a flash of celestial energy, the group vanished from Earth.
