Chapter 48: CHAPTER 48
c48: Wukong Surrenders! The Agreement of the Strong,
Bang!
"Ugh!!" Goku was struck repeatedly by Hit, each blow precisely landing with pinpoint accuracy. The impact dug into his muscles like iron drills, and with one final hit, Goku's body tumbled from the air, limp, as though he had lost consciousness.
"We're finished!!" Beerus shouted, his face darkened in panic. "We're definitely going to lose!"
"Dear me…" Whis muttered, shaking his head with a tinge of regret.
"GOKU!!" Krillin and the others stood up in alarm, their voices filled with worry.
Could this be the end? Had Goku really been defeated?
On the opposite side, Champa was almost bursting with excitement. "Excellent! Yes! That's what I'm talking about!" He nearly clapped in celebration.
But Hit remained still. Quiet. Stoic. He watched Goku's falling body with unreadable eyes, then slowly closed his own, as though reflecting on something deeper than mere victory.
It looked like it was all over…
But then, suddenly Goku's eyes snapped open.
Driven by pure willpower and a powerful fighting spirit, his aura surged anew!
"AHHHH!!" With a furious roar, Goku's energy erupted once more his power blasting skyward like a beacon. The crimson-tinged aura of Kaio-Ken x10 layered over Super Saiyan Blue roared to life. In an instant, Goku vanished and reappeared right in front of Hit!
"Impossible!!" Hit's face changed drasticall caught completely off guard. Before he could react, Goku's fists landed blow after blow, each punch hammering Hit with renewed force. The assassin was sent flying, crashing hard into the arena's outer wall!
"How... how is this happening?!" Champa and the others shot up from their seats in shock.
No one expected Goku to recover, let alone launch a counterattack that fierce!
But the burst came at a price. After the onslaught, Goku's body gave out. He collapsed back onto the arena floor, gasping for breath, every muscle twitching from the overload.
Hit peeled himself out of the cratered wall with effort, battered and panting. His usually calm eyes were locked onto Goku, now kneeling and catching his breath.
Teeth clenched, Goku managed to stand again. He inhaled deeply and looked directly at Hit. "You're still holding back, aren't you? I can tell you've got a trump card you haven't used yet."
"...What?" Hit blinked in surprise, unsure how Goku could tell.
Goku grinned through the pain. "During our fight, it felt like you were holding back on purpose. You were being cautious deliberately avoiding something."
Hit stared at him for a moment, then quietly admitted: "I'm an assassin. My skills are designed to kill. If I used my full techniques, you'd be dead. So… I restrained myself."
Goku nodded, as though he had already suspected it. "Makes sense."
Then, he turned toward Champa and called out loudly: "Hey! Lord Champa! I want to propose removing one of the tournament rules!"
"Huh?"
The entire arena looked baffled, confused by Goku's strange request.
Even Hit looked over at Goku, unsure of his intent.
Champa tilted his head: "Oh? What rule are you talking about?"
Goku gave a crooked smile: "The no-killing rule. If it stays, Hit can't fight seriously. I want him to show me what he's really capable of."
"Eh…?" Champa was visibly stunned. "Did I hear that right? You're asking for your opponent to be allowed to kill you?"
Gasps echoed from the audience. Even Goku's own friends looked on in disbelief.
"Did Goku get hit in the head too hard?" Krillin muttered, sweat running down his forehead.
Others looked equally perplexed.
Hit glanced over again. "You sure about this? You could die."
"I'm afraid of dying," Goku admitted, "but I'd be even more upset if you couldn't give it your all. This fight should have no regrets for either of us."
Hit stared at him for a long moment. Then, unexpectedly, a smile crept onto his usually stoic face. "You really are something else, Son Goku."
"Hehe!" Goku laughed softly, his tone light despite his battered body.
"Hahaha! Alright then!! If you're asking to be killed, I won't hold back!" Champa said gleefully, clapping his hands. "I officially revoke the no-killing rule!!"
"Wait just a minute!!" Beerus appeared before Champa, fury flashing in his eyes. "I don't approve of this nonsense!"
"What's your problem?!" Champa barked. "Your fighter requested it! Don't back out now!"
"Hmph! I don't care who requested it! I'm still the God of Destruction of Universe 7!" Beerus growled, his aura sparking dangerously.
"Grr... you want to fight about this?!" Champa retorted, standing up, his fists clenched.
"Let's go, fat cat!"
"Bring it, flea-ridden mongrel!"
Suddenly, both Gods of Destruction were at each other's throats, their tempers flaring, ready to battle over the tournament rules.
Looking up at the two Gods of Destruction hovering tensely in the sky, Hit let out a rare sigh:
"Such overwhelming power... In their eyes, we're little more than insects."
Goku smiled calmly, wiping a bit of sweat from his brow:
"I don't think so. I may not be on their level right now, but I'm sure one day, I'll reach that height!"
Hit paused, surprised by Goku's unwavering spirit, and then offered a faint smile:
"Indeed."
Goku chuckled lightly. Then, to everyone's astonishment, he calmly began walking toward the edge of the ring.
The crowd fell silent, puzzled by Goku's actions.
And then without hesitation Goku jumped off the ring.
"Wha...?!"
Everyone froze in shock.
"Hey!! Goku!! What the hell are you doing?!" Beerus sprang to his feet, roaring in disbelief.
With a laid-back smile, Goku replied:
"I'm surrendering. I can't defeat Hit… He's just too strong."
He added in a low voice, almost like a whisper:
"I'm no pawn in anyone's game…"
"NANI?!" Beerus' face turned bright purple with fury, fists trembling.
"Hahahaha! See that, Beerus? That's the strength of Universe 6!" Champa cackled triumphantly, rubbing salt in the wound.
"Hmph…" Beerus growled and sat back down heavily, suppressing his rage.
Just then, Goku's body shuddered he released his Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-Ken, and the aftershock surged through his muscles. They spasmed violently under the strain. A sharp pain shot through him, and he fell to the arena floor.
"GOKU!!" Chi-Chi and the others rushed toward him from the stands. Krillin quickly fed him a Senzu Bean.
Within seconds, Goku's breathing steadied, and the tension in his body faded.
"Whew… I'm alive!" Goku exhaled deeply, smiling faintly.
Hit approached the edge of the ring, gazing down at Goku. "Why did you surrender?"
Goku gave a tired grin.
"My body hit its limit a while ago. If I kept using Kaio-Ken over Super Saiyan Blue, I'd have passed out or worse. Letting go of it now was the only smart move."
Hit narrowed his eyes. "Is that really the only reason?"
Goku chuckled again.
"Also… I wanted to make a point. We're not just pieces on a board. We're fighters not pawns."
Hit stared at him quietly, then his expression softened ever so slightly.
Goku stood up with effort, clenched his fists gently, and looked Hit in the eye.
"You're incredibly strong stronger than me. So please, if we ever get the chance… let's fight again!"
Hit's expression shifted to something almost like respect.
"To be honest, among everyone I've faced… you're the strongest. I'd be honored to fight you again."
Goku finally grinned wide:
"Awesome!"
He turned to Krillin and the others.
"Let's go!"
Together, they walked back toward the Universe 7 bench.
"Lord Beerus, I'm sorry I lost the match," Goku said, his tone respectful despite his casual attitude.
Beerus grumbled, his tail twitching in irritation. But after a moment, he waved a hand dismissively.
"Fine… I won't blame you."
Goku sighed. "Hit is something else. Next time we fight, I swear I'll surpass him."
"Hmph. Kakarot, before that happens, I'll surpass you first!" Vegeta declared, arms crossed, voice firm.
Goku laughed cheerfully.
"Then let's both push ourselves to the limit!"
Vegeta just scoffed and turned away, though a tiny smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
The tension began to lift. Smiles returned. Spirits lightened.
Goku suddenly said aloud:
"Speaking of which, if Hit's that powerful… then the only one who can beat him is Monaka, right?"
The moment the words left his mouth, everyone's expression changed. Beerus twitched visibly, and a bead of cold sweat trickled down his cheek.
Goku turned to Monaka and smiled confidently.
"The next match is yours. Be careful—Hit's no joke!"
Monaka gave a stiff smile and a shaky nod.
"Don't worry…"
Beerus immediately jumped in, clearly nervous.
"Hey! Monaka! You must defeat Hit! Do you hear me?! This is serious don't mess it up!"
Monaka glanced at Beerus, then over at Goku, then sighed and muttered under his breath:
"I'll do my best…"
"..."
Beerus' eye twitched.
"'Do your best'?! If he tries and still loses, we're doomed!"
