c49: Luya Appears! A Familiar Scene
It was finally Luya's turn to fight.
Goku glanced toward Luya and began to frown slightly.
"Luya probably isn't strong enough to be Hit's opponent…"
"Hit's energy is heavily depleted from fighting you," Beerus responded evenly. "There might still be a chance."
Goku blinked, then turned toward Krillin with sudden interest.
"Hey, Krillin… do you still have any Senzu Beans?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, everyone's faces went stiff.
"Goku!! What are you thinking?!" Piccolo nearly shouted, his face visibly tightening in disbelief. Did he seriously intend to give Hit a Senzu Bean?
Everyone's minds flashed back to the time Goku tossed a Senzu Bean to Cell during the Cell Games. Back then, Gohan had nearly been killed, and all the Z Fighters were nearly wiped out. Had Goku learned nothing?
Even Beerus raised an eyebrow. He glared coldly.
"Hey. You're not seriously thinking of giving Hit a Senzu Bean… are you?"
Knowing Goku's personality, Beerus feared the worst and with good reason.
Goku laughed nervously, scratching his head.
"Well, what's the problem? He burned a lot of energy fighting me. Besides, we still have Monaka as our ace, right?"
Beerus's expression twisted in horror. He reeled back and smacked Goku hard on the head.
"BAKA!! You absolute fool! You can't just hand a Senzu Bean to your opponent!"
Everyone else twitched. They knew the truth: Monaka wasn't the super fighter Goku believed him to be. Only Goku remained blissfully ignorant, still convinced Monaka was some kind of god-tier martial artist.
Rubbing his head, Goku winced.
"Oww… Lord Beerus, why'd you hit me?!"
Beerus clenched his fists in frustration.
"Let me ask you this: Do you want Luya to lose so that Monaka is forced to fight?"
Goku gave a sheepish grin.
"Yeah, that's the plan!"
Beerus: "…"
"Goku, don't mess around," Whis interjected gently. He looked mildly exasperated. Goku's habit of acting on impulse without understanding the full consequences had once again surfaced. It was the first time Whis had seen Beerus so truly flustered.
Goku glanced at Whis curiously.
Whis continued with a sigh:
"Monaka can't fight right now. And this match isn't just for fun. If Universe 7 loses, the consequences won't be a joke."
"Huh? What do you mean it's inconvenient?" Goku asked, puzzled. He turned toward Monaka, ready to walk over and talk to him.
Beerus quickly blocked his path.
"Stop right there! What are you doing?"
"I just wanna talk to Monaka real quick," Goku said innocently.
Beerus stood firm.
"No. He can't be disturbed."
"But why not? He hasn't even moved this whole time." Goku stepped around Beerus and looked more closely at Monaka.
"Hoho…" Whis chuckled softly, then said under his breath,
"Monaka has been unconscious since he saw Master Roshi's lightning surprise attack…"
Beerus panicked for a moment, then forced a calm expression and blurted out:
"Monaka is… undergoing spiritual unification. You must not interrupt him now! It's extremely dangerous!"
Goku blinked, tilting his head.
"Spiritual… unification?"
Beerus, thinking fast, nodded seriously.
"Yes. Last time someone interrupted him during this state, an entire planet was destroyed!"
Goku's eyes went wide in awe.
"Seriously?! That's nuts… Monaka really is incredible!"
Beerus seized the moment and pressed on:
"So now you understand. You can't interfere. Monaka is preparing himself. He needs time. Leave him alone!"
Goku's face lit up with admiration.
"Whoa… no wonder he's Universe 7's trump card!"
Goku had no choice but to give up the idea of letting Monaka take action and reluctantly returned to Vegeta's side.
Beerus let out a long sigh of relief when he saw this.
"Hohoho… Lord Beerus, you actually looked flustered for a moment," Whis teased with his usual light tone.
Beerus scowled and shot Whis a glare.
"Watch what you say, Whis! You almost exposed the secret about Monaka!"
Whis gave a faint, mischievous smile.
"I didn't expect the mighty God of Destruction to stoop to lying…"
Beerus grew more annoyed, but retorted firmly,
"Hmph! If tricking Goku helps push him to new heights, then I'll gladly sacrifice a bit of dignity!"
Whis: "…"
"Hey! They're getting ready to fight!" Piccolo interrupted, calling everyone's attention back to the arena.
All eyes turned toward the center ring.
Luya now faced Hit with a focused, serious look. Despite Hit having used a significant amount of energy fighting Goku, his presence remained overwhelming.
Hit, ever composed, stared at Luya silently, his expression unreadable.
Then, unexpectedly, Luya reached into his belt, pulled out a Senzu Bean, and tossed it straight at Hit.
Everyone: "…"
The silence was deafening. In the spectator seats, jaws dropped.
"WHAT?!" Beerus's face twisted in rage. "This lunatic! What the hell is he doing?!"
"Luya... is he insane?" Krillin muttered, dumbfounded.
"Idiot…" Piccolo growled, while Vegeta gritted his teeth, visibly irritated.
"Hahaha… this guy Luya really does have the same reckless spirit I did during the Cell Games," Goku chuckled, scratching his head. He was surprised, but deep down, a bit excited. After all, if Luya lost, Monaka might finally have to step in.
Hit caught the Senzu Bean in midair and looked at Luya with a blank expression.
"…What's this?"
Luya smiled calmly.
"That's a Senzu Bean. It'll fully restore your stamina and energy in seconds. You'll be back at your peak."
Hit narrowed his eyes.
"Why give this to me? At full strength, I may defeat your entire Universe 7 team. This guarantees your loss."
Luya's smile deepened slightly.
"That's not certain. I still believe in my own strength. I'm not the kind of fighter who wants to win through cheap advantages. You're clearly far from your full power now, and I'd rather test myself against your best."
"HAHAHAHA!!" Champa burst out laughing. "Are all the fighters from Universe 7 this dumb?! Hey Beerus, I'll be taking your Earth now! Thanks for the gift!"
"DAMN IT!!" Beerus growled, his face turning purple with fury. He glared daggers at Luya.
"If you lose… I'll destroy you myself!"
Luya glanced back, unfazed.
"I'll do my best."
Hit observed him for a moment and then gave a rare smile.
"You're just as strange as Son Goku. But don't expect mercy from me."
Luya grinned confidently.
"I wouldn't dream of it. Come at me with everything you've got!"
Hit turned his eyes to the audience, catching a brief glimpse of Goku, who watched silently. Without hesitation, Hit popped the Senzu Bean into his mouth.
Within seconds, a radiant glow surrounded him. His aura flared, and the fatigue from his battle with Goku vanished—he was back to full strength.
Hit looked at Luya with renewed intensity.
"You're a Saiyan too, right? Show me your real power. Otherwise, this won't last long."
Luya grinned in response.
"Guess I've got no choice then… Time to go all out!"
BOOM!!!
A shockwave blasted from the arena as the battle began.
