Chapter 12: Return of the Saiyan King

Facing Broly's huge power, Vegeta's pride flared once again.

Even though he had never seen these two before, he gritted his teeth and quickly pulled back his fist.

"Da da da!"

Vegeta pushed his palm forward. A rapid stream of energy blasts shot out like bullets, each one striking Broly in the face.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The blasts hit Broly without any mercy, and for a moment, the cave was filled with a thick cloud of dust. Rocks and debris fell from the ceiling as the shockwave shook the chamber.

Vegeta was not done yet. His energy continued to rise as he gathered strength for his strongest move.

He growled as his power built up, the cave creaked under the pressure, looking as if it might collapse at any moment.

"Prince Vegeta! Stop it!" a voice shouted.

"This place is going to fall apart! Everyone, run away!"

Below, a group of young Saiyans scattered in fear as rocks tumbled around them. But then, just before Vegeta could finish charging his attack, a unharmed Broly appeared from the dust. In one quick, heavy move, Broly punched Vegeta in the stomach. The blow stopped Vegeta's energy build-up.

Vegeta doubled over and started vomiting out acid water from his stomach before collapsing on the ground.

As the dust settled and the cave grew quiet again, Broly's face stayed cold. Then, a calm voice spoke up. "That's enough, Broly. They're on our side," said Link as he floated down to the ground.

The falling cave slowly became calm again. A group of young Saiyans rushed to help Vegeta. One boy with long hair knelt beside him and asked nervously, "Prince Vegeta, are you okay?"

"Get away, Raditz! I am Vegeta… I *vomit*" Vegeta managed before another wave of weakness made him vomit again.

Link looked over the worried Saiyans and asked in a steady voice, "What is going on here? Why are you all hiding here?"

Even with Broly's strong presence and the fierce battle that had just taken place, Link's calm manner helped ease the fear among the young Saiyans, though even Raditz's legs shook with fright.

Then, a brave female Saiyan stepped forward. "Who are you? Are you working for Turles?" she demanded, her voice shaky with both anger and fear.

At the sound of the name Turles, Link's eyes narrowed slightly. The name reminded him of the traitor from the story—a Saiyan who left Planet Vegeta long ago to create his own army by using the power of the Tree of Might.

Turles and his followers searched for planets to plant these mysterious trees, which bore fruit that could make them much stronger.

Could the trouble on Planet Vegeta be linked to this Tree? And was that strange energy earlier connected to its power?

With a slight smile, Link replied in a calm tone, "Me? My name is Link."

"Link?" The Saiyans gasped, their eyes wide in shock. "Link—this is a legendary name on Planet Vegeta! Are you really King Link? You have been missing for five years!"

"I'm back," Link said simply, his voice steady and sure. Even though the legendary Super Saiyan blood had changed his look a bit, anyone who even heard of him could still tell who he was.

At that moment, the female Saiyan's face softened, and she threw herself into Link's arms, crying hard. Broly and the others exchanged looks of surprise.

"Your Majesty Link, you are finally back! If you had not returned, Planet Vegeta would have been lost!" she cried.

Link patted her back lightly and said, "Stop crying now. Tell me what has happened on Planet Vegeta."

The female Saiyan took a deep breath and began to explain. Everything, it seemed, was connected to the wandering Saiyan Turles. After Planet Vegeta was moved to the edge of the universe by Porunga, the Saiyans began a new life, training under King Vegeta and waiting for their true king, Link, to return.

Five years had passed quickly, and most Saiyans had grown used to their new way of life. Then, a spaceship broke the peace of Planet Vegeta. The ship belonged to Turles—the once low-level warrior who had betrayed his comrades.

His story was much like a cliche Link had seen before: a soldier who vanished after a terrible act, only to return years later with a power that was hard to believe.

Arrived with his Turles Legion, a group of five strong warriors. He wasted no time and easily defeated King Vegeta and even Bardock, the strongest warrior on the planet. After winning, Turles declared himself the new King of Saiyans and planted a mysterious seed—the Tree of Might—in the capital.

According to him, this tree could suck the life from the planet and produce fruit that greatly increased a warrior's power.

After defeating King Vegeta, Turles used the power of the Tree's fruit to win the loyalty of many Saiyans. Now, his followers gathered in the capital, waiting for the fruit to ripen.

"Your Majesty," the female Saiyan continued, her voice trembling with urgency, "the loyal Saiyans are gathering outside the capital to stop the Tree's fruit from ripening. Lord Bardock once said that if we destroy the Tree of Might before its fruit is picked, Planet Vegeta can be saved."

She paused, her eyes filled with both hope and worry. "We can only protect the children. Vegeta(king) warned us that if we fail, these children will be the last hope for our race."

Link gave a small, confident smile as he listened to her words. He had not expected that his wish to move Planet Vegeta would put his people in danger from the Turles Legion.

In the original plot, Turles and his team had been avoiding Frieza's forces while searching for planets to grow the Trees. Now, fate had brought him to the hidden Planet Vegeta—a twist of misfortune that he found both strange and a little amusing.

Link looked at the Saiyans gathered before him. "So, it seems I have a situation to handle," he said casually. "Turles and his legion have gone too far. I will make sure we bring back order and save our people."

Even Broly, still nearby with a slight smile, cracked his knuckles in anticipation.

The battle lines were drawn, and with their true king returned, hope for Planet Vegeta was alive again.
