Chapter 2: 02. Naming.
"What do you want?" Yvonne grumbled in a sleepy tone.
Lily knew fully well that her captain was pretending to be asleep. After all, with her dragon senses, Yvonne could have easily picked up Lily's scent even before she stepped into the cave, so there was no way Lily was going to believe that her best friend hadn't noticed her presence until now.
"You know exactly what I want," Lily said, crossing her arms underneath her breasts and tilting her head in mild frustration. "Captain, you've been holed up in here for three years and you haven't eaten anything during that time, don't you think you should eat something now and return to your..."
"I told you I'll eat when my baby comes out of his egg," Yvonne interrupted.
"I know that, but if you don't eat something soon, at this rate, you'll be—"
"Shhh," Yvonne interrupted her again, and Lily blinked in surprise before straightening her glasses.
"What's wrong?" She asked in a whisper, and Yvonne slowly unfurled her massive dragon wings to reveal her egg, which was nestled in her warmth.
The egg was huge, but the most prominent thing about the egg was the distinct colors it had.
On one part of the egg, it had a deep crimson color while the other part of it was glowing with a bright azure color.
However, the reason why Lily's eyes widened was because she noticed some cracks on the egg that slowly spread out like spider webs until the egg shattered into tiny shards that scattered across the cavern floor.
But Yvonne instantly reacted and grabbed her baby, which she now held in her arms. She was no longer in her dragon form but instead was in her human form, with her baby cradled safely in her arms.
She was currently sitting on the floor with her legs crossed, but the rays of the pale moonlight spilled into the cave, illuminating her hair as she stared at the baby in her arms.
Looking at the cute bundle of joy in her arms, Yvonne could see how cute and chubby her little baby was. He also had pale skin like his mother and a tuft of silver hair as well.
Although her little baby looked a bit tiny in her eyes, this wasn't the case in any way, especially if anyone were to compare his size to that of a human baby.
Thanks to the dragon blood flowing through his veins, the baby was far bigger than a human newborn, and he could easily be mistaken for a one-year-old human toddler, but he was still the most beautiful little thing Yvonne had ever seen.
After all, he was her baby, and nothing could be more precious than her handsome little dragon.
And so, while thoughts of how precious her baby was filled her mind, a smile spread across her face, and she couldn't help but gently poke her baby's chubby cheek.
However, when she did this, the little baby frowned a bit while his eyes were still closed.
"Ufufufu, it seems like someone is wondering who could possibly be touching his cute little cheeks right now, huh? Well, don't worry, sweetie, it's just Mama, and Mama is just trying to say hi, okay?" Yvonne cooed in a cute baby-like voice while stroking her baby's cheeks lovingly.
Meanwhile, seeing how her best friend couldn't take her eyes off of her baby, Lily was also interested in seeing the baby in Yvonne's arms.
She slowly peeked from behind her Captain's shoulder and her eyes immediately landed on the cutest little baby she had ever seen in her life.
The little baby in her Captain's arms looked so cute and peaceful at the same time, and she couldn't help but wish to have him in her arms as well.
Of course, Yvonne noticed this, and she chuckled softly before moving her baby towards Lily. "Would you like to hold him?" She asked, and Lily was taken aback by her Captain's question.
"Really? Can I?"
"Of course, he's your nephew, so who else would I permit to do this, if not you?"
"N-nephew?"
"Well, since you're like a sister to me, it's only right for my baby to see you as his aunt, right?"
Lily smiled and nodded in understanding. "Thank you, sister." She said before gently lifting the baby from Yvonne's hands, and she was surprised by the weight of the little baby in her arms.
Not only could Lily see how cute and adorable her nephew was, but she could also see how young and fragile he was. Suddenly, Lily felt herself develop a strong desire to help raise and protect the little pirate in her arms.
Well, it didn't matter the path he might choose to take in the future, be it a pirate, a merchant, or even a normal folk; Lily was ready to do whatever it took to raise him well.
And just like that, Lily vowed in her heart to protect her nephew at all costs and to make him the happiest nephew in the world.
Right after she made up her mind, she lifted her head to ask Yvonne a question. "So, have you thought of a name for him?"
"Yes, I have."
"Really?" Lily's eyes sparkled as she waited to hear his name.
"Yep."
"Well, tell me, captain, come on, what is it?" Lily asked excitedly as she leaned closer to her best friend, and Yvonne chuckled softly before replying. "His name will be Aaron."
"Hmm, Aaron, huh."
"Precisely."
"I like it."
"Ufufufu, I knew you would." Yvonne giggled, and Lily slowly returned Aaron to his mother's arms.
Yvonne cradled the little dragon in her arms, and once again, her heart was filled with warmth and love for her little baby.
The Dragon Queen of the Sea couldn't believe how it had taken three whole years to incubate the wonderful baby in her arms right now.
Of course, as a mother and a dragon, three years meant nothing to the dragon queen, but after seeing her baby, Yvonne knew that waiting for this moment all those years had definitely been worth it, especially since the cute little dragon in her arms had no father in his life.
