Chapter 107: FTRJ: Chapter 107
Nirvana raised its enormous foot and began moving towards a specific direction.
"That direction… it's our guild!" Wendy seemed to realize something as Nirvana continued its advance.
Just as Wendy and Carla were about to take to the skies to ascertain Nirvana's destination, the voices of the allied forces echoed in their minds.
"Mr. Jura contacted me a moment ago; he seemed to have something important to share, so I've connected the full telepathic channel," Hibiki explained.
Jura's voice then resonated within their minds. "Everyone, I've learned Oración Seis's intended target."
"Hey, old man, what's their destination?" Carla quickly inquired.
"Is that Carla?" Jura recognized the voice and continued, "Nirvana's target is Cat's House! Mr. Hoteye informed me."
Wendy and Carla were stunned. It was exactly as they had suspected.
"Wait a second, there are other, closer guilds nearby. Why would Oración Seis choose to attack Cat's House first?" Gray's questioning voice echoed through the channel.
"That's precisely what I'm about to explain," Jura's voice responded. "Long ago, a group known as the Nirubito tribe created Nirvana in an attempt to bring an end to a devastating war."
"However," Jura continued, his voice growing serious, "the inherent dangers of Nirvana's magic far exceeded their expectations. As a result, they personally sealed away the very magic they had created, and out of fear that it might fall into the wrong hands, they guarded this seal for generations."
Jura's voice became even more grave. "After several hundred years, the descendants of the Nirubito tribe evolved into a guild—Cat's House!"
"What…" Wendy gasped, covering her mouth in shock. This was information that even she and Carla had been unaware of.
"Because members of that tribe possess the ability to reseal Nirvana, Brain needs to destroy them first!" Jura stated, his words hanging heavy in the air.
A heavy silence descended upon the telepathic channel.
Wendy clenched her fists tightly, her gaze fixed upon the colossal entity that was steadily advancing towards her guild. "I have to stop it!" she declared resolutely.
"That's right. We absolutely cannot allow that thing to destroy our guild!" Carla echoed Wendy's sentiment.
"Wendy, this isn't just your concern," Finn's voice suddenly cut through the silence.
"Finn…" Wendy looked towards Finn, who was currently running along one of Nirvana's massive legs.
"Yes, we'll stop Nirvana."
"Just leave it to us, we won't let them succeed!"
"Then let's go! Let's all head to Nirvana and stop Brain together!"
A chorus of voices filled their minds, expressing their unwavering support and determination.
"Everyone… thank you so much!" Wendy's heart swelled with warmth as she listened to the outpouring of support.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she and Carla performed a deep bow of gratitude, even though the others couldn't physically see their gesture.
Lucy smiled warmly at the display of camaraderie and mutual support.
"Then let's head to Nirvana as well. Any little bit of help we can offer will count," Lucy declared.
Wendy nodded vigorously in agreement.
"You might not need to come," Finn's voice suddenly interrupted their preparations, just as everyone was getting ready to set off towards Nirvana.
"Huh? Why not, Finn?" Natsu asked, his voice laced with confusion, as he and Happy were already airborne.
Finn paused his advance, his gaze fixed upon the figures perched atop a nearby tower. "Because I've already located Brain!" he announced.
"There's likely to be a significant amount of commotion shortly, so it's best if you all stay back," Finn advised calmly, drawing his sword.
"Damn it, Finn! You beat us to it again!" Natsu's frustrated voice echoed through the telepathic channel.
Finn chuckled lightly. "My apologies, Natsu, but this one's mine to finish!"
"Damn it!" Natsu's voice betrayed his lingering resentment.
"If that's the case, then I won't compete with you for this one, but you have to promise me one thing," Natsu declared, a mischievous glint in his eyes, as a sudden idea struck him.
Finn raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "What is it?"
Natsu let out a couple of excited chuckles. "Heh heh, I'm willing to concede Brain to you, but you have to promise to fight me once you're finished!"
Natsu's words resonated within the minds of everyone connected to the telepathic channel.
A collective gasp of astonishment and disbelief washed over the group.
In the course of this battle, everyone had witnessed Finn's overwhelming power firsthand. It was no exaggeration to say that no one on the allied forces' side could possibly defeat Finn in a one-on-one confrontation.
Even Jura, a fellow Ten Wizard Saint, was no match for Finn's might. Finn's status as an unparalleled powerhouse had become a universally accepted truth among the allied forces.
It seemed that as long as Finn was present, there was nothing that he couldn't accomplish.
"Speaking of which, is your guild's Natsu really that brave?" Lyon asked Gray, his face etched with disbelief. He couldn't believe that anyone would dare to challenge such a formidable opponent.
Gray's mouth twitched slightly. "Uh… yeah, I guess Natsu is just incredibly confident…"
Gray shuddered involuntarily as the memory of Natsu's repeated and invariably disastrous attempts to challenge Finn flashed through his mind. Perhaps only a reckless hothead like Natsu would dare to make such a bold proposition.
"Heh, you've grown, Natsu," Finn said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Of course! I've gotten a lot stronger," Natsu replied, recalling his own unexpected display of strength during the recent battle. He actually felt a surge of confidence in his ability to face Finn.
"Very well, I accept your challenge," Finn replied readily, without hesitation.
"They're completely insane!" Lyon exclaimed, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Just a moment, Mr. Finn," Jura's voice suddenly interjected, halting Finn's advance towards Brain.
"What is it?" Finn asked, his voice laced with curiosity.
"Mr. Hoteye shared some crucial information with me just now, and it's imperative that you know about it," Jura stated, his already serious tone growing even more grave.
Jura then began to recount the information he had received.
Brain, the leader of Oración Seis, actually possessed two distinct personalities. One was the outwardly visible persona, a lover of knowledge and the mastermind behind their operations.
The other was a destructive, violent personality known only as "Nothingness," a being driven by an insatiable desire for destruction.
Due to Nothingness's extreme brutality and immense magical power, Brain had personally devised a complex system of six locks to keep this destructive alter ego sealed away. And these six locks were, in fact, the six members of Oración Seis.
Through the use of a living connection magic, the members of Oración Seis served as the keys to these locks. Only when all six members of Oración Seis were defeated would Nothingness be released from its slumber.
"There's actually such a thing…?" Lucy gasped, her voice laced with disbelief.
"A second personality driven solely by destruction… this is truly astonishing!" Erza remarked, her gaze fixed on Nirvana, a clear expression of concern etched upon her features.
"If my memory serves me correctly, the only remaining member of Oración Seis is Brain himself," Hibiki stated, recalling the events of the recent battles.
"In other words, Finn is now going to have to confront both Brain and Nothingness?" Gray stated, his voice laced with a mixture of apprehension and awe.
Finn, however, merely let out a carefree chuckle. "Doesn't that make things all the more interesting?"
"Alright, everyone, I need you to move to a safe distance from this area," Finn announced, his voice firm and resolute. With a powerful thrust of his foot against the ground, a torrent of flames erupted, propelling him towards the elevated platform where Brain was located.
"Do we really need to leave?" Carla asked, her voice filled with apprehension, despite her understanding of Finn's immense power. A sense of worry lingered in her heart.
"It's best if you leave now! When Finn fights at full power, there's nothing we can do to help," Erza's voice echoed through the telepathic channel.
"Let's go. I have complete faith in Finn's abilities," Natsu's voice, brimming with confidence, followed.
Gray turned to Lyon, his expression one of quiet determination. "Since that's the case, let's withdraw. This is Finn's battleground now!"
Lyon shook his head, a wry smile playing on his lips. "You Fairy Tail members always manage to find yourselves embroiled in such earth-shattering events!"
Gray responded with a chuckle. "Of course. We are Fairy Tail, after all!"
As Wendy watched the retreating figures of her allies, she turned her gaze towards Nirvana, her heart filled with a mixture of apprehension and hope. "Finn, please come back safely!" she whispered silently.
Meanwhile, Brain, his gaze fixed upon Cat's House as it drew ever closer, maintained a constant smile on his face.
Suddenly, a frown creased his brow. "What's this? The surrounding temperature is rising sharply…"
The image of a particular individual involuntarily flashed through his mind, causing his expression to darken considerably.
His gaze shifted towards the platform below, instantly confirming his suspicions. "Damn it! It's really him!"
BOOM————
A sword, wreathed in raging flames, descended upon him with devastating force.
Brain, caught completely off guard, could only raise his skull cane in a desperate attempt to defend himself. However, the incredibly intense flames instantly engulfed the entire control room, resulting in a massive explosion.
Brain was sent flying like a broken kite, his body propelled through the air with immense force.
His skull cane, too, suffered the brunt of the attack, cracking into countless pieces. The twin skull eyes, which had momentarily glowed with an eerie green light, quickly dimmed and extinguished, and the cane itself shattered into fragments.
"Damn it… is he really that powerful?" Brain muttered, his hair disheveled and his earlier arrogance replaced with a look of stunned disbelief. His hand, which had been gripping the cane just moments before, trembled uncontrollably from the sheer force of Finn's attack.
"Dark Magic!"
Brain quickly regained his composure, springing to his feet and sweeping his arm across the air, conjuring a dark green magic circle before him.
From the dark green magic circle, countless beams of dark green magical energy, shaped like elongated bars, shot towards Finn, their sheer number completely blocking all possible escape routes.
Finn, with a delicate flick of his wrist, instantly summoned a torrent of flames that swirled around him like a protective shield, the countless flames resembling a constellation of stars surrounding the moon.
The dark green energy beams relentlessly bombarded the fiery shield, but they were unable to penetrate its defenses. They were stopped dead in their tracks, gradually consumed by the flames, until they were reduced to nothingness.
"This guy's flames can even burn magic…" Brain muttered, his expression growing increasingly grim as he watched the dark green energy beams vanish into nothingness within Finn's fiery embrace.
"However… this only makes me even more eager to plunge you into the depths of darkness!" After a moment of silence, a sinister smile returned to Brain's face. He channeled all of his remaining magical energy, and a dark green aura began to emanate from his body, accompanied by the faint, almost imperceptible sounds of ghostly wails.
"Try this one on for size!" Brain declared, gathering his magical energy within his hand, his power far more profound and sinister than before.
"Dark Magic: Dark Capriccio!"
The magic circle expanded once more, and beams of energy, resembling molten lava, intertwined with the dark green magical energy, forming a spear-like projectile that hurtled towards Finn's fiery defenses with unstoppable force.
Finn, with a single, swift movement of his hand, summoned an even more ferocious torrent of flames to meet the oncoming attack.
BOOM————
Brain's Dark Capriccio slammed into Finn's fiery barrier. Although the attack itself was being consumed by the flames, Finn's fiery defenses were slowly being pierced.
"Your defenses are useless against me. My Dark Capriccio is a piercing-type magic, capable of effortlessly penetrating even the most formidable defenses," Brain declared triumphantly.
