Fairy Tail: My Magic is the Sun

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Daily Life Afterwards

A week had passed since Escanor had been officially named one of the Ten Wizard Saints—the "Saint Ten Great Magus." The initial excitement in the Fairy Tail Guild had gradually faded, and life had returned to its chaotic but warm normal.

Escanor, meanwhile, found himself staring at a table cluttered with documents and rewards from the Council. One particular document made his temple twitch."A letter of absolution…?" he muttered, rubbing his forehead. "This has Ultear written all over it…"

Erza, seated nearby, noticed the strange form."Escanor, why would the Council give you a letter of absolution? Did… did you commit some kind of crime?"

Her expression was mixed—part suspicion, part genuine curiosity.

Mira, resting her chin in her hand, looked amused."It was Ultear, wasn't it~?"

Caught red-handed, Escanor sighed and nodded. Mira's intuition was sharper than any blade.

Erza opened her mouth to press further, but Mira leaned over and whispered a few words in her ear.Erza's face immediately flushed. She turned toward Escanor with a complicated expression: one part glare, two parts embarrassment.Escanor averted his eyes and tried very hard to look innocent.

His thoughts drifted back to that night.

It was during a mission to hunt down the Soul of Monsters, a brutal dark guild and subsidiary of the Heart of Grimoire. Known for releasing terrifying bio-magical monsters across various towns, they were a menace that needed eradication.

Escanor had already wiped out dozens of strongholds without finding the core. Then Ultear contacted him with precise intelligence on their true hideout. With Escanor attacking from the outside and Ultear striking from within, they obliterated the guild in a single night.

Afterward, in the aftermath of battle, passion ignited between them. Beneath the broken moonlight, they shared a moment of vulnerability and longing.

Lying in his arms, Ultear had whispered,"I wish time would stop here…"

"Come back with me," Escanor offered.

Ultear gently shook her head. "I'm already burdened with too many sins. I would only drag you down."

"Don't say that. I'll burn the world before I let anyone lay a hand on you."

She clung tighter to him, as if afraid he'd disappear.

Then she suddenly sat up, the sheets slipping from her body. "Wait! The Council has something… a letter of absolution. With it—and a sponsor like you—my sins could be forgiven. It only works for people with great merit."

Escanor didn't pay it much mind then. For someone who could battle Acnologia, a paper meant little. But as Fairy Tail's image rose, politics and perception mattered. Escanor understood he couldn't always solve things with fire and fists.

Meanwhile, at the Council, days prior...

"This is the Black Dragon's Wing!" a Councilor gasped."The magic still radiating from it... it's frightening.""With this, we could create weapons to rival the ages!"

Another councilor raised a concern. "Shouldn't Escanor have donated this freely to the Council?"

An older voice growled, "Idiot. He's the one who cut it off. You want the Council erased from history?"

"…Point taken."

Another added thoughtfully, "What if we gave him a letter of absolution? It would benefit his guild and give us political cover. And it's a gesture of goodwill."

The council chairman nodded. "Excellent. Let's also award him 1,000,000,000 J. His deeds demand it."

In the shadows, Ultear's lips curled into a smile."Hmm~ Our time together isn't far off now…"

Back at the Fairy Tail beach…

Erza stood on the white sand, wearing her new armor forged from the Black Dragon's remains—Knight's Black Dragon Armor.

Dark, glossy scales shimmered under the sun, coiling around her in a draconic silhouette. But the moment she equipped it, her divine magic flared—a golden radiance that suppressed the corruptive backlash of the armor. Her status as Escanor's divine attendant gave her the edge to tame it.

Her previous strongest was the Black Prison Armor, but this was something else.

"I can feel it... Dragon's Might." Her voice trembled with awe. Even a sliver of Acnologia's fearsome aura made most magical beasts hesitate.

She swung her armored tail through the air—razor-sharp and devastating. Her entire being resembled a humanoid dragon.

"Black Dragon's Roar!"Golden and black energies merged in a terrifying beam that sliced through the ocean, parting it into a boiling vacuum tunnel.

Escanor gently placed his palm on her armored shoulder. The scales were warm, thrumming with power."This armor could take a direct hit from a Saint Ten level attack."

Erza nodded, breathless. "I estimate I can fight at dragon-level for ten minutes. But it burns through magic fast."

"Use it carefully, then."

"Escanor! Try hitting it with a standard magic attack!" Erza grinned.

Escanor summoned a small fireball and tossed it toward her.

Fwmp. The flame vanished—absorbed by the armor.

Erza blinked. "It ate it… and… my magic just went up slightly!?"

The armor had fed on the magic, grown stronger, and returned some of it.

"A self-enhancing dragon-scale armor… The Council really outdid themselves," Escanor muttered.

Life was peaceful… for now. But new shadows always loomed beyond the horizon. And Fairy Tail was once again preparing for what came next—with the Sun standing at its center.
