Fairy Tail: My Magic is the Sun

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Meeting His Majesty

"So that's how it is, hahaha, I understand! 400 years ago, here I come!"Escanor stood atop a crag of golden light, watching the sky filled with dragons, his presence illuminating the heavens.

But for now—Back in the present…

Fairy Tail Guild Hall—Afternoon

After a long journey, Escanor, Natsu, Happy, and Lucy finally returned to the guild. Lucy stood awestruck in front of the iconic building.

"Is this… Fairy Tail? It's huge!"

"Let's go, Lucy!""Aye, sir!"

Natsu kicked open the double doors with flair.

"Minna-san! I'm back!!"

"Yo, Natsu! Did you find the Fire Dragon?"

"Leo! That was a fake! Come here, I'll show you what a real Fire Dragon does!!"

The commotion began as soon as they arrived—fists flew, drinks spilled, and furniture creaked under the weight of another classic Fairy Tail brawl.

Lucy watched in disbelief.

"Are… are they really okay like that…?"

"It's fine," Escanor smiled as if everything were perfectly normal. "Let them blow off some steam."

He guided Lucy to the front desk.

"Yo, Mira. We've got a new recruit. Can you handle her registration?"

Mira gave Lucy a warm smile that sparkled with childlike charm.

"Mhm! What's your name?"

"M- My name is Lucy Heartfilia! I'm a Celestial Spirit Magus! Please take care of me!"

Just then, Gray walked up, waving lazily.

"Yo, newbie. I'm Gray. Nice to—"

"PERVERT!!"

"AH—Where are my clothes again?!"

Gray looked down in confusion, once again finding himself mysteriously shirtless. Escanor nearly spit out his drink laughing.

"Why does this always happen to me?!"

The chaos escalated once more.

Mira smiled gently.

"Lucy, where would you like your guild mark?"

"On the back of my right hand!"

The moment the Fairy Tail emblem shimmered into place, Lucy beamed with pride and immediately showed it to Escanor.

"Escanor, look! I did it—I joined!"

"Hahaha, congratulations! You're one of us now."

Suddenly, the floor shook—the air buzzed with tension as a massive figure emerged.

"ALL OF YOU, QUIET DOWN, YOU BRATS!"

Lucy's eyes went wide.

"So big! So scary!"

"Master!"

In a blink, the towering figure shrank down to Makarov's true form—tiny and grumpy.

"...So small!"

Happy nodded.

"Lucy, you're really good at reactions~""Why are you speaking with your tongue curled like that?""Because I'm a cat~""...You know what, I'll stop asking."

Makarov stood on the second-floor balcony, holding up a stack of papers.

"You brats! Look at this mountain of complaints! The Council is breathing down my neck!"

"Natsu! You burned down a town's roof!"

"Gray! You went streaking—again!"

"Cana! You racked up a bar tab and didn't pay!"

"And Escanor! You've been lounging in the guild for days! The Council put you on their watchlist of laziest Saint Ten Magi!"

"But listen well! Magic isn't about rigid rules—it's about life! Let the Council eat dirt! We are Fairy Tail!"

A loud cheer exploded through the guild hall. Lucy laughed nervously—what a first day.

"Master, this is Lucy. She just joined!"

Makarov's stern face melted into a warm smile.

"Lucy, welcome to the guild. You're one of us now!"

"Let's celebrate, everyone! A feast for our newest member!"

The guild roared once more. Natsu bounded over.

"Lucy! Let's spar! What kind of magic do you use?"

"I'm not sparring with you! I use Celestial Spirit Magic!"

"Celestial what? Can you eat it?"

"Don't insult my magic! I'll show you!!"

Intent on proving herself, Lucy gritted her teeth. Though she usually summoned Taurus, she decided to pull out the big guns:

"Come forth! Aquarius!"

A golden magic circle glowed under her, and the mermaid spirit emerged—beautiful, fierce, and furious.

"LITTLE GIRL! Didn't I tell you to stop summoning me for nonsense!?"

"A-Aquarius! Sorry! I just—" Lucy collapsed into a bow.

The guild erupted in laughter. The Celestial Spirit's dominance over her summoner was too funny to ignore.

But then—it happened.

Aquarius froze.

Her eyes locked onto Escanor. The water in her jug rippled unnaturally. Her face turned pale.

"Y-Your… Your Highness!"

She dropped to her knees, her face filled with reverence and dread.

Everyone stared.

"…Your Highness???"

Even Escanor blinked in confusion.

"Me? Uh, Spirit Lady, I think you've mistaken me for someone else."

"No. Absolutely not. That presence, that magic, even if its divine nature has dulled—I would never mistake it."

"But… 400 years ago, you looked the same. When I last saw you, my contractor was Anna Heartfilia—"

"WHAT?!" Lucy blurted. "Anna Heartfilia is my ancestor! Escanor isn't 400 years old!"

"Silence! How dare you speak casually in front of His Highness!"

Escanor raised a hand.

"No, it's fine. But if you saw someone like me 400 years ago… that doesn't make sense. I'm barely 20."

"I-I don't understand it either, but I swear by the Celestial Realm—there is no mistake. Please allow me to return to the Celestial Spirit King and confirm."

"Go ahead."

Before vanishing, Aquarius turned to Lucy.

"From now on, I'll allow you to summon me… but only when His Highness is present. And be more respectful to him!"

She disappeared in golden light.

The room fell silent.

Everyone stared at Escanor like he had just revealed he was secretly the Celestial Spirit King's grandson.

Makarov broke the silence.

"Escanor… What's your take?"

"Either that spirit's confused, or… someone who looks and feels exactly like me exists in the past—or future."

"Impossible," Makarov shook his head. "Magical signatures are unique. There's only one Escanor."

Escanor crossed his arms, thinking deeply.

"Then maybe… I'll go back in time someday. Maybe to 400 years ago…"

The mood grew heavy.

Lucy looked ashamed.

"I'm sorry. This is all my fault. I just wanted to prove myself…"

"No, Lucy," Escanor said gently. "If you hadn't summoned her, I wouldn't have learned this. This is a gift, not a mistake."

"That's right!" Mira chimed in. "The moment you joined Fairy Tail, we became a family. We stick together."

"Yeah!" Natsu grinned. "And if Escanor goes to the past, I'm coming too!"

Everyone laughed, and the atmosphere lightened.

Makarov turned serious again.

"Escanor. In a few days, there's a Guild Master summit. Don't run off. You're coming with me."

"Got it, Gramps."

But Escanor's eyes were already distant—glinting with curiosity and fire.

"A dragon-filled sky… 400 years ago, huh…"

Somewhere in the future—

"So that's how it is."Escanor stepped through the gates of time, golden light swirling around him."I understand now."

"400 years ago… here I come."

Before him, the sky was filled with dragons—wings blotting out the sun, roars shaking the heavens. And Escanor, cloaked in divine sunlight, walked forward with a smile.
