Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Guild Crusade Plan
The great conference hall buzzed with tension.
Inside the marble-pillared chamber of the Magic Council, representatives from guilds across Fiore gathered for a purpose none took lightly: the subjugation of the Dark Guilds—and this time, the target was Oración Seis.
Seated among the honored guild masters were Makarov Dreyar and the radiant pillar of sunlight himself—Escanor.
"Silence, everyone!"A council official struck his staff against the floor."The Council has reached a decision: The subjugation target for this joint operation will be—Oración Seis!"
An audible stir rippled through the room.
Guild masters whispered. Some scoffed. Others flinched.
But Makarov calmly sipped from a flask, while Escanor leaned back with a lazy smile, eyes half-lidded, seemingly uninterested.
"Grandpa," Escanor whispered, "what's the deal with this Guild again?"
"Hmph. Oración Seis has been too active lately—slavery rings, human trafficking, kidnapping magically gifted children… all under the cover of research institutions."
Councilor Yamaji added, "Worse still, they've begun pursuing ancient emergency-class magic. Forbidden things. Dangerous things."
As more intelligence came to light, the weight of the Guild's threat was made crystal clear. No one guild alone could take them down—not without risking complete annihilation.
Escanor leaned forward, arms crossed. "Grandpa, let's use this mission to temper the Guild."
"Meaning?"
"Let them grow. Natsu, Gray, and the rest. Let them lead the charge—so long as I'm nearby to intervene only when truly necessary."
"Hmm... fine. But you're in command, Escanor. Unless it's a matter of life and death, keep your hands off."
"Understood, Master Makarov."
The Council continued.
"The leading guild for this joint crusade will be... Fairy Tail!"
A hush. Then an uproar.
"WHAT?! I OBJECT!"
Jose Porla, Guild Master of Phantom Lord, leapt to his feet, eyes bulging with envy.
"Fairy Tail isn't qualified to lead! We—Phantom Lord—are the strongest guild in Fiore!"
"Jose," a councilor snapped, "do you intend to challenge the authority of this chamber?"
Jose flinched. He'd let his jealousy show again.
"...No, of course not."
The council head stood.
"The decision is final. All guilds will follow Fairy Tail's command in this mission. Dismissed."
At the conference hall entrance, Escanor and Makarov were nearly out the door when—
"FAIRY TAIL! STOP RIGHT THERE!"
Jose marched forward, cape fluttering.
"You should withdraw from this crusade and leave the leadership to Phantom Lord. You're not qualified."
Escanor tilted his head. "Oh~? Then who is qualified, if I may ask?"
"Phantom Lord, of course! We have the numbers, the talent, and the youngest Saint Ten Magus! Me!"
"Ah," Escanor said with a gentle smile, "I see. Then allow me to correct something."
Jose frowned.
"You were the youngest… until I became one."
The guild masters nearby, including Blue Pegasus, Lamia Scale, and Mermaid Heel, chuckled under their breath.
"Jose, watch your words," said one."What do you mean 'dominate'?" We're allies, not subordinates," said another."You must've left your common sense at home," added a third.
Jose, red in the face, growled.
"This isn't over! We'll see who's the strongest guild!"
And with that, he stormed off—like a sore loser fleeing a game he never had a chance to win.
Back at Fairy Tail, the atmosphere couldn't have been more different.
Leo—ever the flirt—spotted Lucy near the request board.
"Hey there, beautiful! Would you do me the honor of dinner?"
"Huh? Uh..."
But then Leo spotted the keys on her hip.
"Wait! You're a Celestial Spirit Magus?!"
"Yes! Why—?"
"Ahh! Destiny is cruel! This won't work!" He wailed dramatically, running from the room.
"Wait! Did it ever start?!" Lucy cried after him.
Mira giggled.
"Leo was injured last time during a fight between Natsu and Gray and never got to properly meet you. He probably didn't expect another Celestial Spirit Magus."
Lucy nodded.
"Oh! Speaking of keys, I got a new one. The client from that last book retrieval job had a spare Zodiac key and gave it to me."
"Impressive," Mira smiled.
Just then—CRASH!
Leo stumbled back into the Guild.
"This is bad! Erza's back!"
Lucy blinked.
"Erza?"
"Erza… the Fairy Queen… the strongest woman in Fairy Tail…"
From outside, the sound of heavy armored footsteps thundered like war drums.
THUD… THUD… THUD…
Lucy trembled.
"Wh-Who is this monster?!"
Then the doors opened—
"Oh my god, she's BEAUTIFUL!!"
Lucy stood stunned as a red-haired knightess in gleaming armor strode in, dragging the massive corpse of a magical beast.
"Guild souvenir," Erza said plainly.
"Just… leave it wherever you like," Mira muttered.
Erza marched through the guild, barking orders.
"Nob! Stop loitering!""Salsuk! No running indoors!""Bixlow! Off the table!""Cana! Control your drinking!"
And then…
"Natsu! Gray!"
"We're friends today! No fighting!" they both shouted, hugging each other awkwardly.
"Is Erza a disciplinary officer?" Lucy asked."That is Erza," Mira replied with a wink.
"Mira," Erza said, "where are Escanor and the Master?"
"They're still at the Guild Conference."
"I see. Then I'll take Natsu and Gray on a mission. Lucy too."
"Mission?" Gray blinked."Erza, did you just invite us?" Natsu added, eyes wide.
"While returning from my last subjugation, I intercepted word that the Iron Forest Guild is planning to attack the Council Conference using a forbidden weapon—Curse Song. We're going to stop them."
"OHHHH! LET'S GOOOO!" Natsu flared up.
Lucy hesitated but nodded.
"I want to help too. Let me come!"
After sending them off, Mira activated a communication crystal.
"Escanor."
"Hmm? Mira, is something wrong?"
"The Master's with you?"
"Right here," Makarov burped.
"We've got a situation. Erza's taken Natsu, Gray, and Lucy to stop Iron Forest. They're targeting the Council."
"Shimattaaaa~!!!" Makarov panicked. "They'll think I planned this! I'm going to be executed by paperwork!"
Escanor chuckled.
"It's fine. Just let me know if things get out of hand. I'll make sure no one dies."
"Curse Song is dangerous," Mira added. "Stay alert."
"Of course. Thank you, Mira."
The transmission ended.
Escanor leaned against a column as Makarov paced in circles.
"Dark Guilds really can't help themselves, huh…"
His golden eyes turned toward the setting sun.
"Let's see if Oración Seis is ready to dance with Fairy Tail."
