from F-Rank Heir to Dimensional Beast Tamer

Chapter 13: Dominating Aura

[F-Rank Skeletal Spider ]

[...]

After Liam wandered around for a bit, he found some small Skeletal Spider .

He headed toward them, and without hesitation, grabbed one by its back, beginning to tame it using the same method he'd thought of earlier.

Due to his quick and unexpected actions, the other spiders in the area became terrified and attacked him in self-defense.

However, unexpectedly, their fangs couldn't pierce his rock-hard skin.

Naturally, Liam paid them no attention and focused entirely on taming the spider.

Now that he had reached D-Rank, F-Rank monsters no longer posed a threat to him, unless hundreds of them attacked him simultaneously.

[Taming successful]

A minute later, Liam opened his eyes and looked at the System notification, surprised:

" That was way too easy this time, and it didn't require much time or effort from me."

He furrowed his brows in confusion and thought:

"Is the reason the weakness of the Skeletal Spider, or am I starting to adapt to the Beast Tamer class? It seems that intensive practice increases my experience and mastery of the skill."

As soon as he realized that, he threw the Skeletal Spider in his hand away, causing it to fall onto its back.

Then, quickly, he grabbed one of the spiders biting him and tamed it. As he expected, it was very easy.

His smile widened, and quickly, he grabbed two more spiders, attempting to tame them at the same time.

[Taming successful]

[4/20]

Although it took more concentration and a bit more time, he succeeded.

After confirming his hypothesis, he felt excited, and then a strange idea crossed his mind:

"What if I tried taming monsters without touching them? Maybe this will work."

Without any hesitation, he directed his gaze toward a spider clinging to the wall.

He calmly pointed at it and activated the taming skill as he had learned.

Then, his mental power and willpower took a semi-tangible form and transformed into a Dominating aura.

It emanated from his body and fell upon the bodies of the spiders around him like a massive mountain.

All the spiders froze, and inexplicably, they felt intense fear and began to tremble, emitting a strange clicking sound.

However, that suffocating feeling emanating from Liam lasted for only a few seconds before easing, then suddenly disappearing

[Taming Failed]

When he saw the System notification, he frowned in annoyance and sighed,

"So I failed. But what did I do wrong that made me fail?"

Although he felt confused, he didn't let his spirits drop.

He raised his hand again and pointed at the Skeletal Spider clinging to the wall, preparing to try again.

[Congratulations]

[You have learned a new skill: Dominating Aura]

Suddenly, before he could begin, the System screen reappeared before him.

As soon as he read its content, his eyes widened, and his mouth fell open in utter astonishment.

"How is this possible?" In reality, his surprise wasn't because he obtained a new skill, but he was shocked by the fact that he learned it himself.

He closed his mouth and showed a skeptical expression,

"Since when was learning new skills this easy? And just what kind of skill is this supposed to be?"

His head filled with questions, but at the same time, he didn't bother trying to answer them.

He showed a sarcastic smile and sighed.

"It seems I truly underestimated myself. Let's try it again."

Calmly, he raised his hand and unleashed his Dominating Aura, which made the Skeleton tremble.

This time, he managed to maintain his aura for a longer duration,

so he activated the Beast Taming skill and attempted to tame the Skeletal Spider—yet he failed once again.

[Taming Failed]

Despite his failure, he didn't feel disappointed; on the contrary, he was happy because he understood the nature of how the "Dominating Aura" skill worked.

"Before, when I tamed monsters, I directed all my willpower and mental energy towards the palm of my hand, making it concentrate in one point.

But when I wanted to tame the Skeletal Spider without touching it, I improvised and tried to direct both my willpower and mind towards the spider to control it remotely.

However, due to my lack of experience, I made the combination of these two forces emanate from all parts of my body.

That's why it quickly disappeared; I couldn't control and direct it well."

He shook his head with a sense of understanding and affirmed, "Yes, that's what happened, but there's something wrong."

Mental power and willpower were not tangible things; rather, it could be said that they were spiritual powers difficult to control. That's why Liam felt something amiss.

After a brief moment of thought, he realized something.

He quickly accessed his personal status and looked at his Mana bar.

[Mana: (100/2)]

"So that's it. I was consuming Mana without realizing it.

Apparently, Mana acted as a medium, combining my mental power and willpower. That's why I felt it was somewhat easy.

It's well-known that Ascendants with physical classes need a long time to learn to control their mental power.

This also explains why I failed to tame the Skeletal Spider; my Mana reserves weren't enough."

After fully understanding the situation, he felt a sense of relief and no longer paid it much attention.

He turned, stared at the four Skeletal Spiders he had tamed, and calmly ordered them,

"Kill the spider on the wall."

Quickly, the group of spiders moved and pounced on the frightened Skeletal Spider, biting it fiercely until its body was destroyed.

[+2XP]

When Liam saw that he gained experience points despite not directly killing the spider, his happiness grew.

"If I can tame more monsters, I'll be able to runk up without lifting a finger."

He let out a faint chuckle, imagining himself lazily eating snacks while his power soared.

But he suddenly realized something: "It seems the XP I get when my monsters kill a monster is halved. Oh well, I can't have everything."

Afterward, he ordered the Skeletal Spiders to form an organized formation and walked through the corridors.

Whenever he found a monster, he either killed it or tamed it if he had recovered some of his Mana reserves.

Several hours passed like this until he reached Level Eight.

Calmly, he stood at the end of the stairs leading to Level Eight and stared at the dark tunnels before him with a frown.

This was the first time he had seen such pitch-black darkness; there were no glowing stones on the ceiling to light his way.

He hesitated slightly, but he couldn't turn back.

After standing in place for a few minutes, he pointed at five Skeletons he had tamed and ordered,

"Lead the way! And you, Skeletal Spiders, stick to the walls around me and attack anything that moves near you!"

Quickly, all the monsters he had tamed moved and surrounded him like loyal soldiers.

At that moment, he felt a sense of security and walked forward, delving into the darkness.

Although his senses were very strong, he unfortunately couldn't rely on his eyes.

Therefore, he focused all his attention on his sense of smell and hearing.

After delving a little deeper into Level Eight, he began to smell a strange odor that bothered his nose, and he also heard distant flapping sounds coming from all directions.
