from F-Rank Heir to Dimensional Beast Tamer

Chapter 14: Learning Magic

When Liam realized he wasn't alone, he heightened his caution and prepared for a fight.

Without saying a word, he directed his tamed monsters, ordering them to protect him.

They moved, forming a small circle around him.

After taming a large number of monsters, he had gained significant experience.

Because of this, he began to understand his skill's full potential.

For example, he could now give orders without needing to speak.

It was enough to simply convey his thoughts through the bond that connected them.

However, this method wasn't very precise for complex or numerous commands.

After standing still for a few seconds, he felt the air around him grow heavier and colder.

The flapping sounds also intensified, drawing closer.

Flap!

Flap!

Liam frowned firmly, thinking, 'Whatever is in this place, it seems it doesn't intend to leave me alone.'

Although he tried to remain calm, he still felt some fear, especially since he couldn't see the nature of the danger lurking around him.

Screech!

Suddenly, before he could understand what was happening, a deafening screech erupted from all directions around him.

The screech wasn't just an ordinary sound; it seemed to carry a destructive force within it, making every part of his body tremble as if it would explode.

After being exposed to the sound for a few seconds, his eyes turned red, and blood began to seep from every orifice of his body.

With extreme difficulty, he clutched his head, which felt on the verge of exploding, and tried to cover his ears, but it was futile.

The sound seemingly pierced through his hands and continued to burrow into his mind.

Bang!

Bang!

Suddenly, the weak Skeletal Spiders he had tamed began to explode one after another, dying with extreme ease, which further intensified his terror.

The Skeletons seemed barely able to withstand it, but after a few more seconds, the skulls of all the Skeletons exploded, leaving only one Skeleton remaining, which was E-Rank.

"Fuck!" Liam could only curse in anger, but losing his connection to his tamed monsters allowed him to regain a bit of mental clarity.

Without wasting any precious moment, he unleashed his Dominating Aura.

When that suffocating and terrifying feeling emanated from him, the deafening screech vanished, replaced by random flapping sounds filled with fear.

Then he began to breathe heavily. He waited for a few seconds until his body steadied, then he cursed loudly, "You motherf*ing pieces of shit!"

Carefully, he listened to the flapping sounds and pinpointed the locations of some nearby monsters.

Then, without any mercy, he attacked the closest one to him.

Although he couldn't see anything and didn't know what kind of monster he was attacking, he didn't hold back his power.

He punched the darkness in front of him with immense force, and then felt his fist strike something very hard, sending it crashing into the wall.

CRUNCH!

He didn't stop or hesitate for a moment; instead, he lunged at the monster again and continued striking until a System notification appeared.

" Hmph," he exhaled heavily and stood firmly. With a complex gaze, he scanned his dark surroundings.

Damn it, what are these things around me? If I hadn't unleashed my Dominating Aura, I'd be dead by now.

But suddenly, he froze in place. A strange idea had just crossed his mind, or rather, he remembered something he had intended to try when the time was right.

Without any hesitation, he closed his eyes and tried to ignore all sounds around him.

Once his mind was clear, he directed all his focus towards his Mana core.

With utmost desperation, he began to stimulate the Mana within him, wanting to cast a magic spell.

Despite his ignorance of how to control Mana, he managed to move a small portion of it as he desired.

Naturally, this wasn't very difficult, as Mana was simply a part of his body, and if he tried hard, he could control it.

Nevertheless, that was the easy part; what followed was truly difficult.

He quickly began to review his memories, recalling the basic Fireball spell he had learned about in his youth.

After that, he tried to follow the same approach he used to tame monsters: understanding and visualization.

However, he suddenly lost his composure.

'shit, not now!'

Due to the limitations of his mental power, his Dominating Aura skill began to weaken, and he could only maintain it for two more minutes at most.

At that moment, a feeling of helplessness washed over him, and he looked at the path he had come from.

The idea of escaping and returning to Level Seven crossed his mind.

Sigh!

After a brief moment of thought, he shook his head.

'No, I won't run. If I want to delve deeper into this place, I must face these monsters. I can't let fear control me.'

After steeling his resolve, he closed his eyes again and calmed himself.

Quickly, he tried to understand the nature of the Fireball spell, and at the same time, he tried to make his Mana follow his thoughts.

'Mana can become fire, and fire can take many forms. Fire, it consumes endlessly, burns without stopping.

Its heat is intense, melting metal and bone. Its rapid combustion makes it a scourge that terrifies people's hearts.

As for Mana, it is the essence that changes into many forms.

If it is fire, it is the spark, it is the fuel, it is the heat, it is the air, it is fire itself.'

His thoughts weren't random; he based the fire spell on fundamental magic lessons he learned in his youth.

He also relied on some of his own understanding.

Apparently, it was effective, as his Mana began to interact with his thoughts.

Then, a small spark appeared within him, around which the Mana swirled strangely.

Without any delay, he visualized the form of a Fireball spell.

He raised his hand and tried to direct and concentrate all the Mana into his palm, then unleashed it.

Unexpectedly, he succeeded. A fist-sized fireball spell erupted from his hand, darting forward at a slow pace before falling to the ground.

Liam felt no disappointment; that small flame was exactly what he needed.

He quickly opened his eyes and scanned his surroundings, which were now clear. At that moment, he was astonished by what he saw.

The flapping sounds were coming from a group of massive bats made of bones.

"You bastards!" When Liam saw the monsters that had almost taken his life, he was enraged and lunged at them.

At the same time, he ordered the remaining Skeleton to protect the small flame with its body.

Fortunately, the flame was made of concentrated Mana, so it wouldn't extinguish easily.

"Take that, you creepy flying bonehead!" Liam punched a nearby bat, shattering its skull into small pieces.

Luckily, all the monsters were weaker than him.

Nevertheless, he didn't lower his guard, for every time he recalled their terrifying screeches, a shiver ran down his spine.

After easily killing five bats, he suddenly felt his Dominating Aura skill cease.

It seemed he had exhausted all his mental power; even his Mana reserves were depleted.

"Fuck!"

As soon as the pressure that terrified the bats vanished, they opened their mouths and began to screech simultaneously, releasing deafening vibrations that made the place tremble.
