from F-Rank Heir to Dimensional Beast Tamer

Chapter 15: Fireball Spell

The combined screech of the bats was extremely dangerous, capable of killing a D-Rank Ascendant if exposed to it for too long.

Fortunately, Liam acted quickly and didn't allow himself to be at the center of the attack.

He ran towards the nearest bat, grabbed it by its wing, and with all his strength, threw it at the group of bats behind him.

The bat collided with another, spreading chaos among the rest, which silenced a large number of them.

Taking advantage of that brief moment of quiet, Liam attacked the nearby bats and killed some of them.

At the same time, the skeleton was protecting the small flame with its body.

Without realizing it, its bones began to burn, and within a few seconds, the fire spread throughout its entire ribcage, further illuminating the area.

Liam noticed this and looked at the Skeleton in surprise.

When he saw that it had transformed into a moving flame, he smirked and felt a surge of happiness that the fire spell he had cast was powerful.

Unlike ordinary flames, Mana fire spread faster and was more stable.

Suddenly, a strange idea crossed his mind, and he quickly ordered the Skeleton:

"Attack those bats behind me!"

The burning Skeleton quickly stood up and attacked the bats on the other side of the tunnel.

Accustomed to the darkness, the bright light bothered the bats, preventing them from staring at the Skeleton, and they averted their gaze.

"Good," Liam nodded in satisfaction. He returned to fighting the remaining bats.

Fortunately, after understanding the nature of his enemy, he no longer had a difficult time.

After fifteen minutes, he had killed the majority of the bats, while the rest had fled.

Once the danger was gone, he sat on the ground to catch his breath and looked at the Skeleton, a large part of which had burned away.

Sigh

'I lost all the monsters I tamed. Tsk, they were completely useless.''

He felt some displeasure over what had happened, but he didn't let it bother him.

He quickly adjusted his mood and accessed his personal status window.

After seeing the number of points he had acquired, he felt a surge of excitement and said:

"Distribute 4 points to Perception, 4 to Agility, and 8 points to Mana Control.

It seems Perception and Mana Control are very useful when it comes to magic spells."

[Distributing...]

With a satisfied smile, he savored the pleasant warmth that accompanied the distribution of points.

When the soothing sensation faded, he looked at the last line on the System screen.

'Getting a legendary class made me forget the gift I received when my rank increased.'

"Open gift."

[Low-level key obtained]

"This was expected."

Without paying it further attention, he continued to sit for another fifteen minutes until he recovered a large portion of his HP, and his Mana reserves also revived slightly.

After that, he stood up, picked up one of the burning Skeleton bones, and continued delving into Level Eight.

On his way, he encountered some bats, but this time, he handled the situation professionally.

He killed a large number of them and tamed some others.

Scrape!

[Taming Successful]

[15/20]

Liam indifferently lifted his foot from the head of a massive bat sprawled on the ground, immediately after seeing the System notification.

Once freed, the bat, whose size exceeded Liam's, stood up and spread its enormous wings made of a leathery, bone-like material.

Like a loyal servant, it stood beside Liam, along with four other bats.

Their hollow eyes and massive fangs were a bit frightening, yet they couldn't stare directly at Liam, as he was holding a burning bone whose light bothered their eyes.

Naturally, Liam paid them no mind; all his focus was on the number of monsters he had tamed.

[15/20]

'Just as I thought. It seems the number 20 doesn't exactly mean I can tame twenty monsters.

Rather, it depends on the monsters' rank and their strength within that rank.

If I recall correctly, the Skeletal Spiders I tamed previously only took up one slot each, but each of these bats around me takes up 3 slots, meaning I'll be able to tame a maximum of 6 of them.

Also, the E-Rank Skeleton I tamed earlier only took up two slots.'

After realizing his abilities had a limit and a specific use, he decided to choose the monsters he would tame later with more care.

"At this rate, I wonder how many slots a D-Rank monster would take? Five, or maybe more?"

While lost in thought, he neglected the burning bone in his hand and didn't realize the fire had burned a large part of it and was moving towards his hand.

"Ouch!"

He suddenly felt intense heat on his fingers and quickly threw the bone to the ground, waving his hand, wanting to cool it.

He frowned in annoyance, stared at the burning bone that was taking its last breaths, and sighed, "I need to find another light source."

Calmly, he closed his eyes and tried to cast the Fireball spell as he had before.

He extended his hand with exaggerated grandeur, channeling the last bits of mana in his body.

With a serious look on his face, he focused all his power into his palm—poof!—a tiny flame popped out, along with a strange little whooshing sound.

He opened his eyes, stared at his hand with a puzzled expression, and muttered,

"That's more like a flaming fart than a fireball…"

Despite his disappointment, his morale was very high.

He then returned to exploring the area, and at the same time, he practiced Mana Control, casting the Fireball spell whenever he got the chance.

Time passed very slowly, and during that period, he reached Level Nine and encountered more ferocious monsters,

such as giant Skeletal Spiders that shot unbreakable hardened webs, massive lizards that spat acid balls capable of melting rock,

and he even faced some ferocious fish when he was drinking water from a small lake he found.

Eventually, he reached Level Ten, the final level.

[Time Remaining: 2:35:21]

With a serious look full of determination, Liam stood before a massive gate filled with strange patterns and engravings.

Around him stood 7 bizarre-looking Skeletal monsters:

a giant lizard, two Skeletal Spiders covered in bloody red lines, three Skeletal Bats, and finally, a Skeleton wearing leather armor and wielding a sword and wooden shield in its hands.
