Chapter 140: 140. Auction Consignment Achieved
Hello, Mr. Liu. I'd like to understand more about the contracts I'll be handling for you today so I can prepare myself," the middle-aged lawyer said, his professional demeanor evident as he got straight to work.
Jason Liu explained his intention to consign a collection of natural gold nuggets, known as "dog head gold," to Guardian Auctions.
Not long into their conversation, Jason received a call from the gatehouse confirming the arrival of representatives from Guardian Auctions. After confirming their visit, the guards allowed the visitors through.
Jason, along with Lawyer , greeted the three representatives at the door of his villa with a smile. "Thank you for making the trip! Welcome!"
"It's our honor to serve you, Mr. Liu," replied Vice President , accompanied by an appraiser and a lawyer. One of them carried a box, presumably holding the tools needed for the appraisal.
After brief introductions, they all entered the villa and settled in the living room. Jason fetched bottles of water from the fridge. "I'm sorry, it's just me here, so I only have bottled water to offer."
"That's perfectly fine," Vice President replied politely, accepting the water but leaving it untouched on the table.
The conversation quickly turned to the gold consignment.
"Let me bring it out," Jason said before heading to his bedroom. He returned with a wooden box containing the gold nuggets and placed it on the glass coffee table. Opening the box, he revealed nine gleaming pieces of varying sizes.
"Please, take a look," Jason said, inviting the appraiser to begin the evaluation.
"Thank you, Mr. Liu. Please give us a moment," Shao replied courteously. The appraiser, Master Chen, opened his box of tools, which included a precise electronic scale and other instruments. He carefully examined each gold nugget, weighing them individually and conducting thorough tests.
After nearly an hour, Master kevin whispered his findings to vice precident shao, "All nine pieces are natural gold nuggets. The weights range from 1.35 kilograms to 6.35 kilograms."
Satisfied with the results, Shao turned to Jason and Lawyer Richard with a smile. "Mr. Liu, we've verified the authenticity and weight of these gold pieces. Here are the weights in detail: 1.35 kg, 1.62 kg, 2.37 kg, 2.81 kg, 4.11 kg, 4.39 kg, 4.77 kg, 5.02 kg, and 6.35 kg. Do you agree with these measurements?"
Jason nodded. "Yes, I agree."
"Great! That's our first step completed," Shao said with a smile. He then presented a consignment agreement. "This is our contract. Please review it carefully with your lawyer, and if everything looks good, we can proceed with signing."
The contracts were handed over to Jason and Lawyer Richard. Jason skimmed through the key points while Lawyer Richard meticulously reviewed every detail.
The contract outlined the agreed weight and quality of the gold, the auction process, and the 5% commission fee Guardian Auctions would take from the auction proceeds, excluding taxes. Jason found the terms fair and standard.
After more than an hour of thorough review and discussion between the two , Lawyer Richard confirmed the contract was sound. Both parties then signed the agreement.
"It's a pleasure working with you, Mr. Liu. Thank you for trusting Guardian Auctions. We'll notify you before the auction begins," Shao said, shaking Jason's hand warmly.
"Likewise," Jason replied, adding, "If I'm unavailable when you call, please proceed with the auction as planned."
Shao hesitated for a moment but nodded in agreement.
The appraiser, Master kevin, carefully packed the gold into a secure lockbox. With their task complete, the Guardian Auctions team bid farewell and left the villa.
Once they were gone, Lawyer Richard also took his leave, promising to send an invoice for his services through his law firm.
Jason secured the signed contracts in his villa's safe and then drove to his warehouse. Without drawing the attention of the nearby construction workers, he entered the building and locked the door behind him.
Standing before a stack of supplies he had recently purchased, Jason placed his hands on the goods and teleported to Westeros.
On arrival, he checked the warehouse door to ensure no one had tampered with it in his absence. Satisfied that his instructions had been followed, Jason unlocked the door and called for Barron, one of his trusted men, to summon Boris.
A few moments later, Boris arrived with five of his apprentices. "My lord, it's wonderful that the medicines we discussed are here so quickly!" Boris exclaimed, his excitement evident as he ran his hands over the large boxes stacked in the warehouse.
"Let's move these to your hospital," Jason instructed.
Each man picked up a box, carefully carrying it out of the warehouse. Once the supplies were secured in the hospital, Jason joined Boris to inspect the renovations.
Boris proudly showed him the updates. "We've made this glass-fronted medicine cabinet as you requested," he said, gesturing to a tall cabinet against the wall.
Jason examined the craftsmanship and nodded with approval. "Good work. It's exactly what I had in mind."
Boris continued, pointing to another area. "Here's the injection room we designed based on your requirements. It's ready for patients to receive treatments."
Jason smiled, pleased with the progress. Boris and his team had done an excellent job setting up the hospital, ensuring it would serve the people of Westeros effectively.
