Chapter 11: ch. 11 Boss Vanquished
A stupid-sounding gasp jumped out of his mouth watching the events unfold.
His brain failed to fully process this sight, the girl hanging onto the bear's neck proceeded to stab the knife into the creature's eye.
The bear roared and tried to shake her off, but he girl simply yanked the knife out, and then stabbed it down again in the monster's eye socket once again!
Her movements were super-quick and violent, also unnervingly precise as she stabbed the same spot over and over without missing even as the bear rampaged about.
Finally regaining his with Allen forced his body up croaking in pain as he did so. With renewed vigor, he clenched onto his shovel feeling just the tiniest amount of Divinity within himself.
It wasnt enough to heal himself but he could make an enchantment!
Seeing a very faint light surrounding his shovel, he knew that it still had the sharpness enchant barely holding on. Closing his eyes, Allen imagined a bullet piercing threw multiple feet of concrete when he used up thebvery last of his Divinity!
[Piercing]
As the flash of light faded, the girl who clung to the back of the bear was flung off and slammed into the cave wall. The bear thought Allen was immobilized and turned it back to him, it walked over to the girl preparing to kill her before killing Allen.
As the bear looked over at the girl with anger, Allen took his chance to attack. Gathering every bit of strength his broken body had he stabbed the shovel into the spine of the back, the attack managed to hit the same spots he attacked earlier!
The blade of the shovel perced through the flesh of the beast and severed its spine coming out the other side, with the last bit of strength he had Allen twisted the shovel lopping off the bears head!
Allen staggered forward and used his shovel to keep him up as he glared deeply into the eyes of the zombie bear that gradually lost its light, he was sure that the damn Necromancer was watching him through them even now.
'Sit tight and wait for me, because Imma pay you back in full for all the sh*t you just put me through.'
As soon as the light faded from the bears eyes, a large amount of Divinity flushed through Allens body, the act of defeating such a powerful undead being controlled by a necromancer was greatly rewarded by the Gods!
Allen didnt wait, he immediately began casting the Low Level Healing Miracle he knew on himself as he felt his bones mending and organs healing. It took him nearly a dozen cast of the spell, not only was the healing spell weak but Allens control on Divinity was very sloppy.
After five minutes of healing, Allen had began walking over to the girl who'd been thrown against the wall but saw that the girl who'd been thrown had zero visible injuries!
The girl now stood before Allen covered in blood, the kitchen knife still in her hand. Her white hair was dyed in blood from the bear and she stared at him wordlessly with her equally-crimson and sunken eyes.
The bear's fur and bloody flesh remained on the kitchen knife in her hand, blood dripping down from it and giving the silent cave an eerie atmosphere
"I guess that makes us even?... I save you back at the village and you save me just now." As Allen said this, he was still weary of the girl, as she tried to kill him last time they met.
Allen's words caused the girl to flinch a bit, and she for some reason, raised the knife in her hand and waved it around. Her lips twitched as it formed into a forced grin.
'Could it be that she was trying to greet me? Well, that's the kind of a grin a serial killer from a slasher film might actually make! Hold on a second, didn't I smack her very hard in the head with a shovel! I hope I didn't cause any brain damage!' Allen didnt know if this girls creepy smile was malicious or just akward.
"It's uh... A pleasure to meet you formally"
The awkward atmosphere was unbearable as Allen recalled the incident of him ruthlessly smacking her in the head as she was slipping on ice.
'Shes not gonna stab me with that knife...Right?...'
"Imperial Prince-nim! Your highness…! Are you alright?" Rather belatedly, the voice of salvation from this awkward situation entered his ears.
The villagers eventually got to their location after following his voice and light, they instantly froze up on discovering the undead beat.
The Hunter who was tracking the woman had an ashen-white complexion. "This… isn't this the King of Gluttony?!"
"You know about this thing?" Allen said, stepping away from the girl and poking the bear with his shovel.
The Hunter alternated his gaze between Allen and the zombie bear, then replied with a strained expression on his face.
"This 'thing' is the most dangerous creatures roaming the outskirts of the Land of Dead, your highness! It feasted on the undead as they couldn't pierce its leather, and occasionally killed villagers who got too close."
According to him, it was so scary that when it had a mate the two were able to even hunt down an actual Troll by themselves!
"Did you actually kill this thing, your highness?" The hunter looked at him with awe.
"It was mostly the girl, beside it was an undead and I can use Divine energy, anyone could've beat it if they had it's kryptonite.."
"Krypta-what?" The hunter said in confusion.
"Forget it, it's something only a noble would understand" Allen said with cold sweats, not caring that the girl was giving him a confused look.
The villagers looked at the girl with the kitchen knife and then at Allen while forming strange expressions.
"Anyways, why is this girl here?" Allen asked, his question prompting Gril to form a troubled expression on his face.
"We had no idea she was following us either, your highness. Just as soon as you got dragged inside the cave by the wolf, she jumped out from the bushes and dove into the cave."
"Is that so...Well this Girl did more than you lot Combined!"
'Lets just hope she was following me to repay the favor of saving her, and not one if those "only i can kill you" scenarios because I forced her to go through that torture like healing process.'
Allen could still recall her wails of agony as her bones constantly shattered and reformed in the Divine Puddle, he doubted hed ever forget that sound.
Allen smiled awkwardly, only to discover a smile creeping up on the girls expressionless face. Her lips might have curled upward, but there was no movement in her eyes whatsoever. Anyone could tell that she was forcing out a smile, and this only managed to send a chill down Allens backside instead.
'Please! Someone else help me out here! This girl might've saved me but she's triggering every red flag in my mind!' It was unknown whether Gril knew what Allen was current thoughts were like or not, he simply alternated his gaze between the girl and him before pointing towards the exit of the cave.
"Well, let's get out of here for the time being. You look really tired, your highness, so let's go back and rest before…"
"No... We'll finish this now!"
"Pardon me!?" Gril said, speaking for all of the villagers
"You said this bear was the most dangerous creature around right? This necromancer that has killed so many of our fellow men is now cornered in this cave and just lost its most powerful undead, we need to capitalize on this before they can gather up more undead to sick on us!"
"B-but…"
Gril, who was the psuedo leader of this group of villagers, looked at the bear with the imposing name of the 'King of Gluttony'. There was silence as he and the villagers thought hard about what to do, especially since this was the first time Allen talked about a Necromancer being the problem.
"I'm guessing the other side doesn't have much, if any more zombies left. In order to control that powerful bear, the Necromancer must've used up a lot of its Demonic energy! It's in a weakened state right now, it would be foolish not to attack!" Allen tried reassuring them.
Just like how he told the villagers that the Paladins would come looking for him, Allen spoke about his assumption with confidence, stating it as if it was a fact.
"If there are some zombies left, they should be on the same level as the ones you fought off back in the monastery... Let's put an end to our suffering once and for all!"
With a deep nod from all of the villagers, Allen studied the deeper parts of the cave that were shrouded in darkness.
'You shouldn't have disturbed my peace Necromancer...'
