Chapter 12: ch. 12 Hidden Rat
The villagers all stood in place, mentally coming to terms with the fact that they'll have to fight a Necromancer. After exchanging glances with one another, they then gripped the farming tools in their hands even tighter.
The scared light in their eyes turned hostile when they realized the bastard that destroyed their lives and their homes was hiding here!
"What should we do about Charlotte?" Gril said looking at the girl. However, the latter simply shook her head.
Her tightly-shut lips parted just a little, "I'll… go with you."
"It'll get very dangerous. That's why you should…"
"I'm coming with you."
"Charlotte, you're putting us in a spot here. Don't be stubborn, and…"
She stared at Gril with a completely emotionless face. Her crimson eyes didn't flicker even once.
"I'm coming with you."
The air seemed to get so much heavier just then, it was a kind of pressure that no young girl should be able to emit, but despite that it came bearing down on them regardless.
The man feeling the most of her sunken and emotionless gaze was Gril, he hastily swallowed back his saliva. A short while later, the villagers including Gril all turned their heads away and avoided meeting her eyes.
"You can come" Grils body had broke out in cold sweats.
When confronted by a venomous snake vying for blood, the hapless puppies got petrified beyond salvation.
She then looked at Allen, her eyes locked into his "I'll support you, we'll kill this necromancer..."
For the first time Allen saw emotions flicker in her eye, pure hatred for the Necromancer.
Charlotte spoke as if the villager weren't even there, she instinctively knew that only she and Allen were strong enough to kill the Necromancer.
He didn't say anything as her quietly studied her for a while, remembering her fighting the undead bear.
'She is certainly stronger than these farmer, and she did save me from dying so she can be trusted.... somewhat.'
"Let's get going then, no reason to let the Necromancer gain its bearing." Taking charge, Allen and Charlotte walked ahead of the group deeper into the cave.
As expected, they didn't run into any zombies. That zombified bear was the Necromancers final line of defense and took up most of its energy.
The group walked deep into the cave, their bodies on high alert for any possible threat and after 10 minutes, they saw a rotting wooden door at the end of the Dank cave.
"Looks like this is it." Gripping his shovel tighter, Allen blessed it with a tiny bit of Divinity as he prepared. By now he only had 1/4 of his Divinity, enough to heal himself or fight but not both.
The Farmer Gril and the Hunter Hans stood before the door and exchanged glances with each other, and then cautiously opened the door.
It was quite dark inside, so the men raised their torches and Allen stepped forward so his Holy Light could illuminated the interior of the chamber.
The group were greeted by an incredibly foul stench coming from rotting corpses strewn about everywhere. Scrolls, grimoires and paper were messily discarded on the ground in a haphazard fashion. The cave room was quite spacious and surprisingly homey.
"I guess magician types aren't really fond of tidying up huh," Allen commented upon seeing the mess.
Allen was desperately wanting to take every book, his reading addiction has raised considerably in this fantasy world that had little for entertainment. Despite this want, Allen mind was focused solely on his surroundings as the first person a Necromancer would attack, would be him!
It was then, Gril suddenly cried out, "Ah! Oh my goddess!"
The villagers hurriedly ran towards the corner of the chamber where Gril was. On the rocky wall of the cave, they found a naked woman strung up by her arms and legs so that she'd be left dangling in the air.
Her body was riddled with wounds as if she had been tortured.
"Who… is there…?" With some difficulty, the woman opened her eyes and asked them.
It seemed that her vision hadn't gotten used to the lighting provided by the torches yet. She failed to discern that these were her fellow villagers.
Her question elicited loud answers from Gril and the other men.
"It's me, Gril! Morgana,! I came to rescue you!"
"This is Hans! I'm the one who tracked you down to rescue you, I risked my life to…!"
Allen became dumbfounded at the spectacle that was happening before me.
He knew that they were somewhat excited right now, but shouldn't they act a bit more rationally than this?
"Hey, you lot. Before you start yapping on about stuff like that, why don't you untie her first? Looks like she's been tortured pretty good." Allen said as his eyes still scanned the surrounding for danger.
"Ahh! T-that's right, the Imperial Prince-nim is also here to rescue you too!" The villagers quickly untied the rope and supported the woman away from the wall.
"Imperial… Prince-nim did?" She looked in his direction with a surprised expression.
She was a looker for sure. Pale, blemish-free skin, clearly defined facial features, plus black hair and eyes which were rare in the Continent.
There wasn't even any need to mention her figure too, abundant breasts, thin waist, and rather supple buttocks. It was like looking at a fine sculpture instead of a woman.
Any hot-blooded male would thank the goddess to spend the night with her, however looking at her alluring figure, Allen frowned.
'You dumbass grandson.' he could only insult the original owner of this body.
'Sure, the boy had just realized the joys of carnal desire, but seriously? This woman had to be in her early thirties, man… To think that he hanged himself because he got rejected by a woman twice his age. What the hell?' Allen couldn't stop shaking his head, his reputation was sinking lower and lower.
Looking at the woman getting taken down from the chains, Allen wanted to make sure she hadn't been poisoned so he casually used [Appraisal] on her.
[Name: Morgana
Age: 63
Specialty: Honey trap, Necromancy, dissection, hexing, assassination.
+ Currently in an extremely tense and weakened state.]
'63 years old?! Necromancy? Dissection??? Hexing and freaking assassination???? Fuck!!!'
"The Imperial Prince-nim came for me…?" The woman formed another surprised expression on her face. She sneakily brushed aside the villagers helping her and approached him.
"Is it true? You really came for me…?" She began blushing a little.
Then, with an enraptured expression that belonged to a maiden experiencing her first love, she embraced him with a hug. Her smile was so alluring that the heart of any man who saw her would totally go wildly out of control, but Allen remained stone faced.
Quickly and silently pushing the woman away from him, Allen's mind was working on overtime on what to do.
"No need to thank me, but I actually got a present for you." The woman's eyes widen in surprise and glee.
Reaching into his pocket, Allen immediately began controlling the Divinity to pool around hus fist.
"I thought you mightve been hungry, so i brought you something to eat!" With a quick motion, he yanked his glowing fist out of his pocket and smashed it towards the woman with every ounce of strength, connecting it with her mouth!
*THWACK!*
"...."
Understandably, the villagers froze in shock and their expressions stiffened in an instant. Even the usually expressionless silver haired girl had to open her eyes wide in surprise.
The woman staggered from the injury before collapsing on the floor, her trembling hands rose up to touch her face and found bloody missing teeth!
Maybe she still hadn't comprehended this situation properly yet, because she kept staring dazedly at the 'Imperial Prince' in genuine shock.
'Damn it! I should've just used the shovel... No the shovel wouldve been to slow and she wouldve dodged, i need to start keeping a knife on me!'
Grabbing his, Allen began to quickly step forward abd finish this bastard off.
"H-help me!! T-the Prince has lost his mind! Please…!!" The woman reached out to the other villagers and flailed about.
"With all those undead surroundings the monastery it would've been hard to smell one little rat sneaking in, but even still it seems like you are using something to mask the Demonic energy in your body!'
Allen was a second away from slamming the shovel back down on the necromancer, only for the villagers to step forward and protect the woman.
"I-Imperial Prince-nim! What are you doing this?! Why…?!" Gril said in shock and fear.
"Y-you aren't still h-harboring a grudge against her...!" Another villager piped up
As soon as the villagers stood up for her, Morgana quickly hid behind them as her body shivered like a frightened kitten.
'God Damn it, it makes sense they think this way, with how the past Prince acted and how they knew he tried to kill himself after her rejection! Damn it, I should never have told them I had awoke inside of a noose when I first entered this world!'
"There is nobody other than her in this cave and she reeks of Demonic energy, you dolts! That woman is the Necromancer!"
