Hatake Kakashi Absolutely Will Not Be a Chakra Unit!

Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Assassin's Creed

Chapter 86: Assassin's Creed

"Is this the power of Talk-no-Jutsu?"

With a sigh steeped in Naruto-esque comedy, Kakashi's group of three emerged from the tower. Each was now clad in an Akatsuki robe and held an official position within the organization. Aside from the lack of a salary, their benefits were the same as any other member's.

The reason for this sudden development was that Mei Terumi and Sara had become captivated by the world Yahiko described. Only Kakashi, having been "baptized" by a certain other ideology, remained unmoved. However, he couldn't deny the hopeful looks from his two companions.

So, Kakashi simply agreed to Yahiko's proposal to become a member of the Akatsuki. At this stage, the Akatsuki accepted members regardless of nationality or affiliation, as long as they shared its ideals.

But that wasn't the most important reason. The real catalyst was Yahiko mentioning the "Uchiha" prefix when talking about the organization's members.

"The entire Uchiha clan is in Konoha. How did you gain the friendship of an Uchiha?"

As the one asking, Kakashi assumed this was a secret of the Akatsuki that Yahiko wouldn't disclose. The answer, however, was unexpected.

"It's because our leader is from the Uchiha clan."

"Huh??"

The silver-haired young man struggled to voice his suspicion.

"That person wouldn't be named Obito Uchiha, would he?"

"You know our leader?" This time, it was Yahiko's turn to be surprised.

"Of course, I know him." I've beaten the guy up more than once, Kakashi thought, but he didn't say the second half out loud, merely laughing it off to gloss over the details.

Yahiko didn't press for specifics. He figured they weren't enemies of Obito; otherwise, he would have seen it in Kakashi's expression when he heard the name.

Hanzo of the Salamander was dead, but Yahiko was alive. Obito Uchiha had become the secret leader of the Akatsuki. Everything was so familiar, yet not entirely the same. The Akatsuki's ideals hadn't changed, and Nagato's combat power remained at its peak.

As evening approached, the three new Akatsuki members settled down in Amegakure for the night.

In the darkness, Mei Terumi lay next to the silver-haired young man, while Sara slept on another bed, the three of them sharing a small cabin.

The girl beside him closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, but Kakashi, unable to rest, set his mind to work.

If things continue to develop like this... A complete plan began to form in the young man's mind.

If asked whether he supported Yahiko's ideology or Nagato's from the original story, Kakashi would undoubtedly choose Nagato's. However, Nagato's path was too extreme. Only by merging the two philosophies could the ninja world truly achieve peace.

Early the next morning, the young man woke the two girls and announced his decision.

"You're going to Konoha?"

"Yes."

"I'm going too."

"No."

"Why not...?"

"It's not necessary. I'll be back soon."

"But you're a rogue ninja from Konoha!"

"Do you think they can catch me?"

Mei Terumi bit her lower lip, but it seemed the man before her was serious this time.

"...A rogue ninja from Konoha?"

Sara, the only one out of the loop, was overwhelmed by this massive piece of information and couldn't process it... It was only now that she realized she knew nothing about Mei Terumi and Kakashi.

The feeling of being an outsider to their circle was not a pleasant one.

"Sara, this is a good opportunity for you to train for a while. It would be best if you could use ninjutsu by the time I return. Your age makes it a bit late to start, so if you don't speed things up, becoming strong will be very difficult."

"Mei Terumi, you'll be in charge of teaching her during this time. If the Akatsuki has any missions... assess the situation and take them, but don't overexert yourself."

After speaking, regardless of their reactions, Kakashi prepared to go to Konoha alone. It wasn't arrogance; he simply believed that with his ability to teleport to coordinates, not even Minato Namikaze could stop him.

Besides, he had already removed the space-time coordinates from his body.

He knew every corner and defense of Konoha. If he couldn't even infiltrate the village with that knowledge, then all his growth during this time would have been for nothing.

"Kakashi!"

Mei Terumi chased after him, calling his name loudly.

"Didn't I tell you not to follow?"

"Who said I was following you?"

The girl's face flushed as she quickly closed the distance, wrapped her hands around Kakashi's neck, and pressed her lips against his.

"?"

Not to be outdone, he returned the kiss. Several minutes later, their lips parted.

"I'll wait for you here."

"Alright."

Somewhat surprised by the girl's forwardness, the young man smiled and gently wiped the raindrops from her hair in the rain.

"Don't worry."

Inside, looking through the window, Sara watched the two say their farewells in silence.

After a long journey over mountains and across rivers, he stepped into the territory of the Land of Fire, back on familiar soil. Following his memory, he bypassed the outer patrol teams and used a genjutsu to slip past the two ninja at the main gate. No one would have ever imagined that, on the day of the Fourth Hokage's inauguration, a rogue ninja would brazenly mix in through the main entrance of Konoha.

Even Kakashi himself hadn't expected it.

As soon as he entered the village, the streets were empty. Waves of cheers echoed from the direction of the Hokage's office. A quick sensory scan told him Obito wasn't in that direction, but driven by the human compulsion to understand everything, Kakashi concealed his presence and blended into the crowd in the style of an assassin, arriving at the large plaza in front of the Hokage's building.

It's actually sensei's inauguration ceremony.

Better late than never, Kakashi thought with a sense of unease. He ducked lower, making sure not to meet his teacher's gaze.

It was like a student in class who believes that as long as they don't look the teacher in the eye, they won't be called on to answer a question.

Obito is at home. Strange, is he not even attending his sensei's inauguration?

Dodging a girl with face paint on his way, he was nearly recognized. Running into an acquaintance wasn't scary; what was scary was running into an acquaintance who didn't understand the situation.

He did notice, however, that her body seemed to be recovering from a major illness. He would have to ask Obito about that later.

A total of eight Anbu members were stationed around Obito's house, with the Uchiha Clan Police Force patrolling further out.

Sensei didn't follow me. It seems the inauguration ceremony is more important.

Although Kakashi wasn't worried about Minato Namikaze suddenly appearing, it was better not to meet. Whether they fought or he fled, it would go against the purpose of his trip.

"Hey."

"Who is it?"

The voice was very familiar, but Obito Uchiha didn't think it could be him. After all, he was still fighting in the Land of Lightning.

"It's me."

"Who?! I told you I don't want to go out right now!"

"You're asking for another beating, you idiot."
