Chapter 88: The Whole Clan Should Become Rogue Ninjas.
The Uchiha Clan.
After surviving the Warring States Period, the First, and Second Great Ninja Wars, they came to control the Konoha Military Police Force by the Third Great Ninja War, holding a large number of jonin positions in Konoha, with geniuses emerging one after another. Although not every member could awaken the Sharingan, their overall strength still made them the undisputed number one clan in the ninja world. Even the Hyuga clan, fellow possessors of one of the Three Great Dōjutsu, had to bow to the Uchiha's might.
The Senju clan was once their equal, but now, due to wars, their numbers had dwindled, leaving Tsunade as the only remaining direct bloodline member.
At its peak, the full power of this clan could have overthrown a major nation. Countless people coveted the powerful Sharingan, yet few could ever obtain a pair of those eyes. If someone did, the problem was more likely to have come from an insider.
Kakashi's idea of bringing the entire Uchiha clan to Amegakure wasn't a whim. Disregarding whether he could accomplish it, the crime of defecting from the village alone would be met with staunch opposition from the conservative faction, led by figures like Shisui Uchiha.
The pride of the war-hawk faction would never agree to a young boy's proposal either. What they wanted was control of Konoha, the position of Hokage, not some fringe small nation that wasn't even one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries.
Notoriously exclusive, proud, arrogant, and with extreme personalities prone to losing control—these traits made communication with the Uchiha clan exponentially more difficult, unless one was a member themselves.
The purpose of bringing the Uchiha to Amegakure was for nothing other than to develop the Akatsuki and strengthen the Land of Rain until it could rival the other five great nations, or even surpass them.
At that point, with the Akatsuki as his backing, Kakashi could bring about true peace step by step, adding fuel to the fire for the eventual defeat of Madara Uchiha and the Ōtsutsuki clan.
The plan was very clear, but to implement the details, the help of this Uchiha boy was indispensable.
The silver-haired young man stared intently at the black-haired one, who felt goosebumps rise as if the gaze was stripping him bare, making him extremely uncomfortable.
"The entire Uchiha clan? Kakashi, you have no idea what those old Uchiha fossils are thinking all day. They'd be a liability even if they went to the Land of Rain."
"I've already considered that. With Nagato there, they won't be able to stir up any trouble."
"Nagato's dōjutsu is indeed powerful, but..." Obito recalled the overwhelming, beastly aura of the legendary Rinnegan and compared it to his own dōjutsu, feeling a little uncertain.
"Plus, you've already become a standout among the younger generation of the Uchiha. If you propose it, they will certainly evaluate and consider it."
"They won't agree."
"That's fine too. I've prepared a Plan B."
"You've already thought through the entire plan?"
"Yes."
Kakashi handed a scroll to Obito. The black-haired boy quickly hid it away in a secret corner of his headboard.
"There are two plans in here. If your first one fails, use the second one directly."
"The entire Uchiha clan is still fighting in the Land of Water right now."
"I will wait here until they return."
"In Konoha? Aren't you afraid of being discovered?"
"Not at all."
In the system's special item inventory, there was a very practical concealment item: the "Disguise Mask." Kakashi had noticed its existence when Browse the system before. The cost, based on the degree of disguise, was 15-50 K-points.
The name had a distinct Wuxia novel flair.
He didn't know what kind of mask it was to be so expensive. Back when he only had single-digit K-points, he had skipped right over it. Now that his chakra was plentiful, he could finally afford it.
As for why he didn't just use the Transformation Jutsu, it was because that technique constantly consumed chakra. It was better to have it drawn once. Furthermore, since the Byakugan and Sharingan could see through the Transformation Jutsu, Kakashi opted for the system's product.
15 K-points won't be a rip-off, the silver-haired young man confirmed, based on his previous exchanges.
Seeing Kakashi's insistence, Obito stopped questioning his decision to stay and began to explain the Uchiha clan's recent situation.
The silver-haired young man, unfamiliar with the Uchiha's internal affairs, listened with widening eyes. Realizing his facial expressions were too revealing, he quickly returned to his usual deadpan look, his pair of dead-fish eyes fixed on Obito.
He had thought the conflict between the Uchiha and Konoha was significant, but he hadn't realized it was this severe.
No wonder they were sent to the Land of Water to fight the Mist. No wonder they wanted to move against Konoha's leadership. If Kakashi were the Uchiha clan head, he would have fallen out with those people long ago. Suppressed for decades and assigned to such an outlying location—it was blatant discrimination, practically forcing the Uchiha to rebel.
From Obito, he also heard a lot of negative news about the Uchiha's internal affairs. The factional strife within the clan was much more serious than Kakashi had imagined. There was even a neutral faction, which, to put it bluntly, were just fence-sitters. They held a simple philosophy: whoever provides is mother.
"Obito, do you know how many in the clan have awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan?"
Obito shook his head, indicating he didn't know, then continued with other clan topics.
"If they really go to the Land of Rain, as the leader of the Akatsuki, I will also need to conduct a purge within the clan. Otherwise, with some people causing trouble, it's only a matter of time before we repeat the same mistakes."
"That's something to worry about after they've gone. The main goal now is to invite them to the Land of Rain."
"Right."
Completely agreeing with Kakashi's view, Obito, deep down, didn't want the Uchiha clan to perish. Although there were scoundrels among them, there were also people in the clan who had been very good to him.
At the very least, Clan Head Fugaku, his wife, and Shisui were all kind to him. And that kid named Itachi was pretty cute too.
"I've stayed long enough. If I don't leave soon, it'll be bad if the Anbu find me. One last question, how long until the Uchiha return?"
"Probably about half a month. I've already figured out the trick to fighting in the mist; it won't be hard for them to get used to it."
"Understood. For the next half a month, I'll stay on the outskirts of Konoha and occasionally come in. Make sure the scroll isn't discovered, and don't reveal anything to sensei."
"Yeah."
After giving his final instructions, Kakashi turned to leave. The moment Obito heard the window open, the silver-haired young man vanished without a trace.
Walking to the window, Obito calculated the afterimage his Sharingan had just captured.
He really is... stronger than me.
The thought that he was the leader of the Akatsuki but not its strongest member brought a strange sense of defeat to the black-haired boy.
Rin's recovered and I haven't even gone to see her yet. I still have some time, I should go see Rin.
Looking down at his wrinkled ninja uniform, Obito changed into a jacket and walked out the main door, making no effort to avoid the gazes of the Anbu.
