Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Go for it, Lord Otto!
[Inside Babylon Tower, Einstein used a Honkai energy detector that looked like a thermometer to test the girls who had been released from the prison, trying to find 'that person' with abnormal Honkai energy levels. To her confusion, she found that 'that person' was not among the girls.
"Wait a minute..." Theresa suddenly remembered that a purple-haired girl was missing.
Einstein sighed, realizing the target had escaped. She asked Welt to sense 'her' presence, but Welt Yang informed her that he couldn't detect 'her'. Based on the residual Honkai energy left behind, Welt guessed that the target had already torn through space and fled the tower.
"Torn through space?!" Siegfried said in shock.
Cold sweat trickled down Siegfried's forehead. If what Welt said was true and the target was outside Babylon Tower, then trying to find a single person in the vast, snowy plains with a detector in Siberia's harsh weather would be like finding a needle in a haystack.
Einstein, however, was not flustered at all. She even proposed a backup plan: borrowing Theresa's Oath of Judah.
Theresa was completely stunned. She touched the giant gold and black cross on her back. Even she didn't know Judah had such a function. In her understanding, Judah's target-seeking range was only a short hundred meters. Citing information that Anti-Entropy had found in ancient ruins, Einstein began to explain to Theresa, and by extension, the audience.
"The Oath of Judah, and the Might of An-Utu in Mr. Siegfried's hands, are both weapons created by the Previous Era—Divine Keys."
At the same time, Einstein pointed out that besides its weapon function, Judah had four other functions.]
"The Previous Era? Why does this suddenly have a mythological feel to it?" Rin commented, then stuck her tongue out at Yàqīng behind her and skillfully snagged a bag of chips from Pardofelis.
"It seems the Divine Keys are very mysterious," Vill-V mused, starting to speculate from the smallest details. "Welt's Star of Eden, Siegfried's Might of An-Utu, Theresa's Oath of Judah."
"Whether it's Theresa's nun attire or her cross-shaped weapon, they both have a very religious style," MEI commented.
Kevin stared at the dual pistols on Siegfried's belt on the screen. He felt an unusual attraction to them.
[Einstein poured the residual Honkai energy from the scene, which she had collected in a test tube, onto the Oath of Judah. The art style for Einstein and Theresa suddenly became chibi.
"I've never heard of... this function, and I don't know how to use it..."
Einstein's face darkened. She began to teach Theresa step-by-step how to activate the Oath of Judah's pursuit mode. As Theresa silently chanted "track" in her mind, the Oath of Judah lit up with a brilliant light, so bright that Theresa couldn't open her eyes. The Oath of Judah shrank from a giant cross to a size smaller than her palm. Eight golden chains shot out in all directions. At its limit, Judah could track a target within a 200-kilometer radius. Even their enemy, Welt, couldn't help but sigh, complaining that Otto had given them the Divine Keys but not the proper instruction manuals.]
"Eh? Speaking of which, why didn't Overseer Otto teach Great-Auntie how to use the Judah... uh, what was it called again?" Kiana asked, confused.
"It's the Oath of Judah," Mei reminded her.
"Ah, right, the Oath of Judah. Why didn't the Overseer teach Great-Auntie the correct way to use the Oath of Judah?"
"Uh... I don't know either," Theresa said, equally clueless.
"It makes Theresa look so dense," Himeko, already tipsy, said with hazy eyes as she watched the screen.
"Himeko!!!"
"Why didn't Otto teach Theresa?" Kallen asked curiously.
Otto pondered for a moment before explaining, "There are only two possibilities. The first is that I wanted the Divine Key wielder to figure out how to use the weapon on their own. The second is that the full use of the Divine Key might be harmful to the human body."
There's a third possibility, Otto thought to himself. A fully unleashed Divine Key would introduce uncertainty, even a threat, to my plans. I will not allow any flaws in the plan to resurrect the Saintess.
Kallen said worriedly, "Is Anti-Entropy using little Theresa?"
"No, I know these 'old friends' of mine," Otto said with a smile. "They are absolute idealists. They would never intentionally harm anyone, except..."
"So what did you do, Otto? To make the Anti-Entropy Group hate you so much?" Kallen asked curiously.
Otto thought hard. "I don't remember."
[Just as the chains from Theresa's Judah tracked the target, a piercing alarm blared simultaneously. Siegfried listened to Salome's anxious report and learned that about 300 Honkai Beasts had arrived near Babylon Tower.
"Hold on, I'm coming right away!"
Siegfried had just taken a step when he was stopped by Welt. Welt could see that the Honkai Beasts were a delaying tactic. So he ordered Einstein to stay and guard Babylon Tower, while he, Siegfried, and Theresa would set out together.
"But..." Siegfried wanted to object but didn't know how. Welt was right. The enemy could tear through space, so Salome and the others would only hold them back.
The scene switched to Sirin's perspective. She stood on the surface of water, her left hand clutching her chest as blue Honkai energy seeped from between her fingers. She muttered to herself over and over.
"Tear... tear... tear space..."
Sirin's eyes snapped open.
"Tear open the human heart☆"
Meanwhile, on Schicksal's floating island, the beautiful Cecilia, holding a bag of baguettes in her left hand and newly bought groceries in her right, received a call from Siegfried. Siegfried apologized profusely for not being able to make it to dinner with Kiana.
"I know, dear," Cecilia said with understanding, reminding Siegfried to be careful on his mission.
As she was walking home, Cecilia suddenly froze. She looked at the small, blond boy in an ill-fitting white shirt standing before her and wondered, "This child... who is he?"
Immediately after, the little boy's inner voice answered the audience's question. It was none other than Overseer Otto, who had made a mistake in his haste, damaging his new body and forcing him to use a backup. And the voice of little Otto was, of course, not the Overseer's, but a young boy's voice faked by Patrick.]
"Cecilia is so gentle and beautiful." Cecilia's appearance once again caught the attention of the lesbians in the Golden Courtyard. Their eyes lit up as they stared intently at Yàqīng.
Cold sweat beaded on Yàqīng's forehead. Before Elysia could cry out "my dear Yàqīng," he quickly interjected, "That's my sister, Ely. She's already married and has a child."
"Don't be so nervous. Miss Pink Elf♪ hasn't said anything yet," Elysia winked. "But this child would look very good in a dress."
Yàqīng followed Elysia's gaze to the screen, to the young Otto. His heart jumped into his throat. He had, in fact, written a scene where Overseer Otto cross-dresses later on.
"Otto, I never expected... hahaha." Kallen bent over laughing.
Otto helplessly patted Kallen's back to keep her from choking.
