How to raise a Russian Girlfriend!

Chapter 38: Ch. 38 - New student, Sawako?

After their short but meaningful date, Kenshin insisted on bringing Sawako back home himself.

It's not like he was expecting her to let him into her home and get to meet her parents like a proper Japanese hospitality.

Nope. Absolutely not!

'Well, maybe a little bit.' Kenshin awkwardly said to himself.

After serving as a transportation with Sawako acting like a passenger pointing the direction of her home to the driver, they finally arrived at a modest-looking home.

Neither too fancy nor too plain. It looks just right, perfect for a family of three.

The front porch is littered with a bunch of flowers of different varieties. Kenshin slowly landed on the ground and after a quick sense of their surroundings, he dropped the invisibility spell, exposing them back to the world.

Now that they're on the ground, Sawako immediately cleared her throat, tucked her hair behind her ear, and distanced herself from Kenshin, approaching the door of her home.

"T-Thank you for bringing me home, Kenshin-san." Turning around, Sawako flashed him a warm smile before continuing.

"I enjoyed being with you, today."

However, at the same time as she finished her words, the door to her house creaked open. And her mother was revealed standing behind the door with her mouth gaping open.

"…" Sawako's expression froze.

"…" Kenshin tried to hold himself back from laughing.

'What impeccable timing. And here I thought I would never be able to meet her parents.' With a flick of his hand, his entire body and clothes were cleaned off of dirt and sweat. Another flick and he started to smell good like flowers.

'Magic is so fucking convenient.' Kenshin mentally smirked. Well, more like his self-created magic spells are convenient, he was the one who created the clean and hygiene spells after all.

"Sawako….Is that the Kenshin that you've been telling us about?" One look from her mother and she quickly deduced who Kenshin was.

"M-Mom!" Sawako became flustered as her mother just revealed her great secret.

"Ohh~? I see I'm no longer a stranger." Kenshin grinned and stepped forward, bowing his head towards her mother out of respect.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Kuronuma. My name is Kuroki Kenshin. I'm a very close friend of your daughter."

"Ah, it is indeed you. Come in, come in. Sawa-chan, you should've called me that Kuroki-san will come visit today." She opened the door wide and allowed Kenshin to step inside.

"Please, just call me Kenshin. And please don't blame Sawako-san. My visit is abrupt and she probably wasn't expecting it either." Kenshin came forward to protect her from a possible earful. Or worse, an ass-whooping if she still does that to her daughter of her age.

"Alright then…." Her mother just flashed a smile and kept going inside. It seems like she appreciated Kenshin being protective of Sawako.

No doubt such an action earned him plus points from her mother.

"Thankfully, you went home early. My husband just left a few hours ago for his job and I was always left alone here with Sawako if she doesn't have school." While explaining their situation, Sawako's mother went to the kitchen to prepare some snacks for Kenshin.

In the living room, Sawako tugged on Kenshin with a guilty expression.

Realizing the reason behind it, Kenshin gave her a soft smile and spoke.

"It's fine. I understand mothers when it comes to their children." He then proceeded to wink at her, much to her embarrassment.

A few minutes in and the snacks and coffee cups are prepared for them.

Even though Kenshin rarely drinks coffee since his body technically doesn't need caffeine but for the sake of pretending, he drank it anyway.

"So, I wonder how you two met. Are you two classmates perhaps?" Sawako's mother's eyebrows wiggled as she gave the two of them a certain look as if she was

"It's…not like that, Kuronuma-san. We met while I was on a jog. After that, we kind of clicked and decided to become friends…"

"And?" Her smile seemed a bit eerie as if she was expecting more of the story.

"…That's it?" While Sawako was hiding her face away out of embarrassment, Kenshin awkwardly ended the story.

"Oh. I see." Sawako's mother pouted as if she were disappointed by the story.

"Want to hear how me and Sawa-chan's father met?" She suddenly flashed a grin while Sawako groaned at his side.

What followed next was a grueling story that went on for about an hour before it ended with what Kenshin could only describe as Disney's happy ending.

Finally, her mother allowed them to go to Sawako's room and told us to watch over the house as she would buy groceries.

What a mother. Leaving her daughter with a boy of her age. It's like she purposely did it.

Inside Sawako's room, Kenshin compared it to Alya's room and noticed that Sawako's is more plain and simpler. There are barely any stuffed toys and designs anywhere.

"Nice room." But still, Kenshin didn't forget to compliment it.

Complimenting something, especially if it came from a girl, it's very crucial. Or so he read from the internet.

Don't forget he's also clueless about this stuff. So he's only following by the book at this point.

"Thanks." She tucked her hair behind her ear.

At one point, they sat on her bed and before things could get awkward between them, Sawako said something that made Kenshin blink his eyes in surprise.

"You want…to learn magic from me?" His question was answered with a nod of her head.

"I see…." Inside, Kenshin's lips were twitching.

Since when did he come into this world to become a teacher? So far, he already has one student and it would be two if he accepts Sawako.

'A teacher with two female students? Sounds like something that came out of a cultivation novel.' His face cringed at that point.

"…What made you want to become my student? Is it because of the fancy of it? Or something else?" Looking at her appearance and knowing her current problem, Kenshin felt like he had an idea of why.

"W-Well, I just find it amazing and…and perhaps it would help me with my appearance, so I would no longer look like Sadako, the horror character." Clenching her skirt, Sawako looked down at the ground as she mustered the courage to tell the truth.

In her entire life, her appearance has always been a problem. Not because she found herself ugly but because of the uncanny resemblance of a character that hunted people's nightmares.

Now whenever someone walks by her, they would find themselves cowering or running in fear like she's the boogeyman.

She hated it. She hated the fact that it became a thorn in her side and became the reason why she was unable to make any friends.

It's the reason why she was an outcast in her school. The reason why her classmates avoid her and their neighbors would sometimes file a complaint on them just because they thought they saw a ghost.

"About appearance huh…Well, magic can change someone's appearance." Her face lit up with hope before getting extinguished soon after.

"But it doesn't work on beautiful faces. Sawako, I can understand how you're feeling. But magic doesn't solve any problems that aren't supposed to be a problem in the first place." Kenshin stretched his hand and held hers.

"If you think people don't want to be friends with you because of your appearance then fuck them, people don't make friends based on someone's appearance. If they judge you on something you can't change, then they don't deserve to be your friend."

Seeing that she doesn't look convinced yet, Kenshin struck the iron while it's hot.

"Look at me, if you think your looks make it hard to make friends, then how come we're friends, right?" Thanks to that, Sawako finally broke down into tears, releasing her pent-up emotions of the past years of suffering as a loner.

"There are billions of people on earth, and the possibility of making hundreds of real friends is extremely high. You just need patience for it."

"How about this, I help you make friends. With magic of course." Kenshin wiggled his eyebrows at her.

"Really?" Sawako's face beamed up.

"Of course I will. I'm your friend, aren't I? Friends help friends." Kenshin emphasized the last few words.

"Friends help friends…" Sawako repeated the words in her mouth.

"That's right. I'm your friend and it's my duty to help you."

"So about that magic lesson. What magic do you truly want to learn?" Kenshin pushed himself forward with the question.

"I…I want to learn funny magic. S-Something that would make people laugh." Sawako blushed heavily as she was not used to this kind of thing.

"Magic that makes people laugh."

'The opposite of what her appearance brings.' Kenshin mentally smiled at the change.

If Sawako's appearance causes people to get scared, then that would be balanced or erased with fun magic.

"Since you only want to entertain. Then I'll teach you magic that wouldn't expose your magical knowledge and make it seem like a magic performed that most people watch online." Kenshin clapped his hands and decided.

"Oh and by the way, you probably need to meet my first student. She also started learning from me just a few days ago. I assure you, it wouldn't take long for the friendship between the two of you to kick off."

———

"Achoo!" Alya found herself sneezing all of a sudden.

"That's weird. Does learning magic cause sickness?" Alya wondered to herself while grabbing a nearby tissue to wipe off her face.

Once that's done, she shifted her focus back to the book she's holding. It's titled Basic Mana Control for Beginners written by Alistair Abara.

Ever since Kenshin gave her these books, she has been nonstop in reading them and taking notes in another notebook.

She truly wants to learn magic and most of all, magic spells that would make her academic life easier such as magics that enhance her brain power and give her more than one thought process, effectively making multitasking extremely easy for her.

And a magic that could clean her and remove any foul odor, giving her less time to take care of her hygiene and more on her academics.

And of course, she also needs to learn some offensive magic spells, to protect herself in case she finds herself in danger, or worse, her older sister.

All of these can be attributed to Kenshin, the person who taught her that magic is real.

"Let's see…Mana control requires concentration and inner peace…" She resumed her attention to the book after noticing that there wouldn't be any sneezing happening soon.

———

When Yasaka woke up this morning, she found no sign of Kenshin anywhere.

So she did what she could only do. She roamed around his room.

Suffice it to say, Kenshin's taste is definitely bland.

Although the entire room is squeaky clean, the interior design is awfully plain.

A simple bed, a table, a shelf filled with books, an old computer, and a simple chair in the corner of the room.

The last one made her entirely confused. Who in their right mind puts a random chair in the corner of their room without any particular reason?

After that, once she was done with his room, she moved outside, where she came across the photos of their family hanging on the wall.

"He looks a bit ugly here." Yasaka chuckled softly as her fingers brushed against the small picture frame containing a photo of Kenshin when he was a child.

"His looks now are so different from when he was a child. Could puberty really kick hard enough to entirely change someone's appearance?" Just as she ponders to herself, she heard a wet squelching noise on her left.

Curious, she followed the noise and came across a locked room.

"Hmm. I wonder what makes that sound." A simple door can't hold someone like her.

Her eyes glowed yellow and the Ki or Life Force of the person inside slowly formed a silhouette of a girl lying on her bed.

"Oh my!" Her face quickly turned red as she realized what the person inside was doing.

Not only that, her sharp nose also caught the familiar scent of Kenshin on a piece of what looked to be an underwear, being held by the person inside.

'Kenshin-san….your little sister…is such a pervert!'
