Episode 90
Episode 90
Mikhail walked as Karen guided him.
“You probably want to kill me right now. After all, you’ve put Lady Lindsey in danger by doing things your way.”
“Didn’t Lindsey also sleep for an entire year?”
“She fell asleep when you did.”
“……”
“You’re not planning to kill me, are you?”
Mikhail didn’t deny Karen’s words. Karen felt a chill.
He quickly continued speaking.
“But Mikhail, even if you kill me, you’ll have to listen to what I have to say.”
Mikhail was currently exercising all of his patience. The Karen he knew wasn’t the type of person to toy with Lindsey.
The place Karen brought Mikhail to was the room where the head of the Kesion Marquisate resided.
Without hesitation, Karen opened the door.
Mikhail’s gaze turned to the figure lying on the bed.
There, with a pale complexion, was Lindsey.
Karen, sensing Mikhail’s tension, quickly spoke.
“As you said, it’s been a year. Lady Lindsey entered your mind to wake you up. She went in to directly heal the goddess’s power.”
Mikhail’s face hardened at Karen’s words.
“Karen Rosset. You know why I endured those years.”
“……”
“Then why did you do this?”
“Are you asking because you don’t know? I couldn’t stand the thought of you going berserk and dying. I’m sure Lady Lindsey felt the same way.”
It was clear that Lindsey wouldn’t want Mikhail to die, even if it meant he would survive through sacrifice.
So, she had walked a path where she might not be able to wake up.
“Listen carefully. Reversing Lady Lindsey’s mind isn’t easy. Luckily, you woke up quickly, so there’s still a chance.”
Karen looked down at Lindsey with a worried expression. Her face seemed more peaceful than ever before.
Mikhail also looked at her with unfamiliar eyes.
Lindsey, who had always struggled with deep sleep, was now resting with a serene, happy expression.
“Once someone enters another’s mental world, it becomes hard to leave. They start to assimilate, not wanting to escape.”
Karen’s face stiffened with concern. He was preparing for the worst.
“If things go wrong, she may never come back. I understand that what I did was reckless.”
Karen grabbed Mikhail’s hand as he spoke.
“But right now, there isn’t much time. If you want to kill me, go ahead, but only after Lady Lindsey returns.”
“……”
“It won’t be easy. So much time has already passed. Lady Lindsey might even feel repelled by you. We need to make her want to return to the real world.”

Why was Baek Ji-hyuk here?
In Mikhail’s memories, Lindsey had constantly seen Baek Ji-hyuk’s image.
Even if that weren’t the case, Baek Ji-hyuk often appeared in her dreams.
Lindsey silently watched him.
‘Is this just an illusion because I want to see him?’
But this place wasn’t exactly her dream; it was Mikhail’s mental world. She couldn’t simply see things just because she wanted to.
Baek Ji-hyuk slowly approached the still Lindsey.
Meeting Baek Ji-hyuk felt surreal, even though it had been a scenario Lindsey had longed for since a distant past.
Baek Ji-hyuk reached out his hand to Lindsey. It felt strange.
In the past, it was usually she who reached out to him, but now, it was Baek Ji-hyuk who was extending his hand.
“Let’s leave.”
Baek Ji-hyuk’s words were enough to stir Lindsey’s emotions.
She had no intention of leaving this place. Here, she was free of worries.
It was also where she could feel the closest connection to Baek Ji-hyuk. Even though Karen had guided her here, now she didn’t want to leave.
At some point, Lindsey had forgotten the need to return to reality.
She truly didn’t want to wake up from this dream. She only wanted to see Baek Ji-hyuk and Mikhail, who cherished her, for eternity.
She muttered as she looked at Baek Ji-hyuk.
“I don’t want to leave.”
“Why?”
“If I go out, there’s only people who don’t like me.”
“……”
“If I stay here, I can only see you, someone who loves me.”
Here, she didn’t feel any pain. She couldn’t see Crain, or the children of the family who had tormented her.
She hadn’t spoken of it, but Lindsey had suffered. The senseless hatred she had faced recently had worn her down.
She just wanted to give up everything.
“I want to be with you forever. I like seeing your memories.”
Saying this, she clung to Baek Ji-hyuk.
She slowly tilted her head and spoke to him.
“You can stay here with me, too.”
Lindsey slowly closed her eyes and opened them again. She couldn’t understand Baek Ji-hyuk’s words about coming to say goodbye.
“There are people waiting for you.”
“People waiting for me?”
Lindsey hesitated and took a step back. She felt like she had returned to her younger, timid self—before she had experienced Han Ji-yoo’s life.
“Duke Riken is waiting for you. Your younger brothers can’t sleep at night, always by your side.”
Baek Ji-hyuk said this and embraced Lindsey.
“It’s not just them. Bianca Rosset has even settled at the Kesion Marquisate. Dame Felia too.”
Lindsey quietly thought about the people who cared for her.
The time she spent with her family at the Riken Duchy was short, but it made her feel what it meant to be cherished.
Bianca was the same.
If not for her consideration when Lindsey first woke up here, she would have found herself in a difficult situation.
But…
Lindsey wanted to be with Baek Ji-hyuk. As if he had sensed her feelings, Baek Ji-hyuk before her smiled faintly.
With his image that seemed like it could disappear at any moment, tears streamed from Lindsey’s eyes.
Baek Ji-hyuk wiped away her tears.
“The time we spent together is the past.”
The faint smile that had been on his face disappeared without a trace.
Baek Ji-hyuk reached out his hand to Lindsey. She stared at his face, her gaze unwavering.
She instinctively knew.
If she took his hand, she would never be able to see Baek Ji-hyuk’s face again.
Mikhail was here, but he was someone completely different from Baek Ji-hyuk.
Countless years had changed him.
Lindsey was still afraid.
If she woke from this sweet dream, the future waiting for her would be filled with pain.
‘Surely, someone will hurt me.’
She could still see Crain’s face, staring at her. The greedy gaze of Flute also flashed in her mind.
Here, she could escape all of them.
But then, Baek Ji-hyuk spoke again, and Lindsey grasped his hand.
“I want to build a new future with you.”

Lindsey opened her eyes.
‘Am I back?’
It didn’t feel real. Unlike the freedom she had felt in Mikhail’s mental world, her entire body felt heavy now.
She could feel the cold air.
Lindsey realized it was winter.
“Lindsey!”
The sudden force made Lindsey blink in confusion.
“Mother?”
“Oh my, you’ve really woken up. Truly…”
Kalia hugged Lindsey tightly, sobbing. But it wasn’t just Kalia.
Lindsey turned her head. She saw Heis and Gerard, both eager to rush to her side. Heis hurriedly ran to Kalia and gently pulled her arms away from Lindsey.
“Mother, you can’t hold her so tightly. Lady Lindsey’s body is very weak.”
Kalia finally seemed to realize, looking at Lindsey with a concerned expression.
“My goodness, were you in so much pain?”
Lindsey shook her head. She wanted to tell Kalia that she was fine, but she didn’t have the strength for that.
The person she had longed to see was nowhere to be found.
‘Could it be…?’
A terrible thought crossed her mind. Had she failed to heal Mikhail after all?
Had Mikhail ultimately met his death?
Lindsey pulled the blankets around her.
“Mother, Mikhail…”
Before Lindsey could finish, Kalia shook her head in disapproval.
“Lindsey, you’ve been asleep for an entire year. That person is no longer important. Besides, you fell asleep all because of him.”
At the anxious look on Lindsey’s face, Kalia sighed.
Her gaze shifted toward the door.
“He’s coming.”
As soon as Kalia’s words ended, the door swung open forcefully.
