I Quit Studies to Date

Chapter 120: Skipping Class

Jiang Wei smiled helplessly, put on his pajamas and went out to get a cup of hot water. In fact, he originally planned to sleep in the guest room by himself, but since Zhi Zhi invited him to join her, there was nothing to refuse.

The hot water was originally intended for Zhi Ying to drink, but by the time Jiang Wei returned to the bedroom holding the cup, Zhi Ying had actually already fallen asleep. Half of her face was exposed from under the quilt, which seemed to be a gap created by the owner in order to survive.

Seeing this, Jiang Wei then put the cup on the bedside table, bent down and pulled the quilt off her face. He adjusted the quilt and tucked it around her tightly.

He carefully lifted a corner of the quilt to prevent the cold air from entering, and quickly lay down inside.

Zhi Ying slept very well, lying straight on her back, not at all like her appearance when she wakes up. It couldn't be said that she didn't look like it, she was dull from her bones, but her appearance was always aggressive. Jiang Wei laid on his side and stared blankly at the sleeping Zhi Ying, his dark eyes overflowing with tenderness: This was the person he liked, who was now lying beside him.

Suddenly, colorful lights flashed outside, and there were loud noises in the distance. Jiang Wei looked through the window with loosely drawn curtains. It turned out that the locals on Lugu Mountain were setting off fireworks.

This was not the capital, and the management of fireworks was not so strict. Only in the urban area were fireworks not allowed to be set off.

Jiang Wei looked down at Zhi Ying again. She didn't seem to be roused by the scene outside, and she didn't even notice the light of the fireworks kept flashing on her face.

Under the quilt, Jiang Wei hugged Zhi Ying, turned his head and kissed the forehead of the person in his arms. "Good night, Zhizhi," he muttered sweetly.

No. 1 High School had always been ruthless to students like the autumn wind sweeping away fallen leaves. As soon as the Lanterns Festival passed, the sophomore and junior students were notified that they would take monthly exams next week.

"Teacher, we haven't been in school for even two weeks, why is there a monthly exam already?" A certain student was puzzled and asked the question on everyone's mind.

The teacher glanced at him lightly, saying, "Does this classmate know when next week is?"

The student looked blank, letting out a strange, "When?"

The teacher coughed: "At the end of the month."

The students in the class still didn't know what the teacher meant, they just looked up at the teacher on the podium with puzzled and ignorant eyes.

"There is always an exam at the end of the month." The teacher said firmly.

Ever since Zhi Ying heard this news, she was cooped up at home working hard, still not giving up on her studies. At the same time, she had to take into account her relationship with Jiang Wei.

Just wait until next week to witness the results of this month.

It was just that the closer the exam was, the more guilty Zhi Ying felt. Finally, she simply brought it up with Jiang Wei that they should go to school separately until after the exam.

Of course Jiang Wei asked Zhi Ying why, and Zhi Ying prevaricated, until she finally had a flash of inspiration: "I think since the exam is about to take place, we should separate and calm down, so as not to delay studying."

This excuse fit Zhi Ying's personality well, and Jiang Wei didn't want Zhi Ying to think of him as a bother, so he agreed.

When the exam results came out that day, Zhi Ying ranked first, and Jiang Wei dropped out of the top ten.

"Yingying, you are a genius!" Zhao Qian turned around excitedly, "That Jiang Wei's grades really dropped! He didn't even get second place."

They had just returned from raising the flag on the drill ground, Han Jiaojiao went outside to fetch hot water and placed it on Zhi Ying's table. She stood in the empty seat in the last row and massaged Zhi Ying's shoulders.

"Our Yingying worked hard, endured the humiliation, and went deep into the enemy's camp." Han Jiaojiao felt happy whenever she thought of Jiang Wei eating turtles aka failing. It's a pity… He didn't come to class today. Could it be that he knew in advance that his grades had dropped?

After regaining her first place in the grade, Zhi Ying was not as happy as she imagined. Because of the exam two days ago, the two separated and had no contact. As a result, Jiang Wei hadn't come to class all morning.

Zhi Ying didn't have the mindset to read that morning, and she didn't regain the pleasure of being first place at all. She turned her head to look at the empty table, on which there were still some books belonging to Jiang Wei.

Zhi Ying lowered her head and twisted her hands, feeling uncomfortable.

She quietly went to the class president to ask if Jiang Wei had asked for a leave, however, the monitor shook his head and said that he didn't know.

As soon as school was over in the morning, Zhi Ying rushed out of the class, went to an open space and started calling Jiang Wei.

The phone rang for a long time before it was connected.

"Jiang Wei, why didn't you come to class?" After the phone call was made, Zhi Ying asked without waiting for the person on the other side to speak.

"Ah, it's little classmate." Uncle Li's voice came from the opposite side, "I'm sorry, I've been so busy these two days that I forgot to ask for leave from school."

"What's wrong with Jiang Wei?" Zhi Ying frowned, thinking of the worst possible scenarios.

"The young master is sick, and he didn't finish the exam that day, so I went to pick up the young master." Speaking of this matter, Uncle Li was frightened again.

The young master was no longer as weak and sickly as he was when he was a child. He hadn't even caught a small cold in the past few years, and everyone had relaxed their vigilance. They didn't expect a sudden attack now.

"Then… how is he doing now?" Zhi Ying asked after a long silence with a grim expression on her face.

"The high fever has subsided, and the doctor advised him to rest for a few days." Uncle Li looked at Jiang Wei who was lying on the bed through the half-closed door and whispered, "Now the young master is asleep."

"Oh, then take good care of him." Zhi Ying kicked at the ground, and after hanging up the phone, she realized that her palms were covered with sweat.

When going home for lunch, Zhi Ying was absent-minded. However, Zhi Ying was often in this state previously.

She was either doing a math problem or thinking about doing one. Father Yao and Mother Yao were used to this, but they didn't know that Zhi Ying was planning to skip class.
