Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 620: It was about time

Putting such useless thoughts aside, Rain confirmed that he didn’t have to worry about them and soon he began to move the warriors and make them attack and retreat at the best moments possible. He was also gaining a lot from it.

The skill Ice Seal leveled up.

The Frost Sorcerer path received 600 experience points.

While supporting his warriors was good and all, Rain also wanted to make Frost Sorcerer reach level sixty and gain that boost in power. He didn’t know the trump cards that the enemies had, so he had to keep increasing his as well. It was time to make them realize that using monsters against him was just powering him up…

That being said, maybe they didn’t care about that at all. Maybe they didn’t care if Rain survived as everyone else died. That was a very worrisome thought…

In any case, eventually, the monsters recovered from the surprise movements and attacks of the warriors. They quickly took a few steps backward and clustered with each other in a small area.

As the ice golems drew closer to each other, their colossal bodies became almost stationary, seemingly unable to move. Just when Rain was about to give the command to attack, the unexpected happened.

The ice golems at the forefront of the cluster extended their massive arms forward, and there was an ominous feeling that they were about to unleash a devastating assault upon the warriors. Meanwhile, the golems situated in the middle of the group raised their arms high and began firing a relentless hail of razor-sharp ice arrows.

The battlefield was now filled with a menacing, frigid onslaught that added an extra layer of danger to the already intense situation.

"It is like a phalanx formation…" Rain thought.

The warriors raised their shields and blocked the attacks, but they couldn’t advance anymore. As if that wasn’t troublesome enough, the ice arrows that had been fired upward began to fall all over the warriors… The wind helped them with that.

Rain moved the warriors on the same way and made the Frontline block the direct attacks while the backline protected themselves and those in the middle… still, that wouldn’t solve anything. The battlefield was getting colder and filled with ice shards on the ground… that definitely was good for the ice golems.

Rain could feel the look of Jori and Reca waiting for his next orders… he wished that they wouldn’t hurry him so much.

"I can’t use that much magic, you know," Rain asked and then sighed. "Only around ten percent of them died, but it is too soon for us to retreat."

In the end, the idea that Rain had seemed risky, but it also seemed promising… he didn’t have much time to think of any other, so he decided to take his chances.

Rain moved his Frontline toward the ice golems again and while they blocked the attacks, they also felt their shields slowly freezing and them they could feel their arms getting numb as well.

Still, Rain made his warriors fly around the massive cluster of enemies. The first group did that while holding their shields and it had one hundred members, but soon Rain used one hundred more and then more. While they were flying around it, they blocked only a few of the projectiles and the others missed.

Once the warriors realized that, they began to stab the monsters. Their attacks and their movements began to take huge chunks of the monsters and then eventually they began to fall. The monster’s formation began to fall apart, but the ones in the back began to take the place of the others.

Still, that became useless when five hundred warriors were attacking them like a massive spinning blade that was almost impossible to hit.

The golems began to explode in their ranks and that also damaged and slowed down each other a fair bit… it seemed that the enemy’s plan had backfired tremendously.

Still, all that came with a price… Rain was having a hard time focusing on controlling the flight at high speeds of so many warriors. Before he could run out of mana, he had to make them finish off the ice golems.

"Let’s make them cluster together as well to increase their survivability…" Rain thought.

Rain didn that when the monsters showed an opening, at the same time, he made a group of warriors cross the enemies lines while making them form a spear… they raised their shields and with their spears pointed at the enemies, they stabbed the enemies around and ripped them to shreds.

Using that chance, the other warriors that stayed behind charged and began to invade the area of the ice golems. They were sturdy and they kept attacking with ice arrows, but against the charge on a single spot in their direction, they were unable to do anything.

"And now for the finale…" Rain thought.

Rain didn’t even make them kill one third of the monsters, but Rain decided to start the end of the battle… when his soldiers reached the middle of the group, he made them stop and made them rotate in an area as well… as they killed golems, their area of attack expanded and the monsters couldn’t do a thing since they were too clustered, even to turn to the sides.

Thanks to that, the ice golems began to fall like dominoes. Rain couldn’t help but smirk at how much experience he was getting…

The Frost Sorcerer path leveled up.

Level 50: Frozen Domain Achieve a profound connection with the icy domains, temporarily encasing the ground in a layer of slippery ice that hinders the movement of your enemies and amplifies your frost-based powers.

You fulfilled the requirements to unlock a new path.

"Well, it was about damn time," Rain thought while grinning from ear to ear. "Things will only get more fun from here on out."
