Kaito Kid is Superhero

Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Batman Can Only Help You So Far

The security cameras captured the entire process of Mr. Freeze's crime. Batman deduced that Mr. Freeze had robbed the jewelry store to maintain his equipment.

Another scientist, driven to crime due to poverty preventing him from fulfilling his genius inventions. Mr. Freeze's talent was undeniable—he had developed human cryogenic technology and the freezing ray gun. If it weren't for his emotional struggles, he could have very well become a great scientist and even won the Nobel Prize. But instead, he had become a criminal.

Liu A'dou and Ada spent over an hour using Ripple to thaw all the frozen people, advancing their control of Ripple to a whole new level.

"Thank you, Kaitou Kid, and this is…?" Gordon acknowledged the thief.

"This is Lady Tuxedo Mask," Liu A'dou introduced. "She's my assistant. She's been secretly helping during the Bane incident."

Gordon thought to himself that he had known the thief must have an assistant, but he hadn't expected it to be a woman. Furthermore, she was wearing that strange costume, running around Gotham City. As the police commissioner, his job certainly wasn't easy.

Batman checked the injured, confirming that the ice had indeed been completely dealt with by Kid. "Kid, I need you to come with me." If they could determine the wavelength of Ripple, they could create weapons to defeat Mr. Freeze.

"Does your car fit three people?" Liu A'dou asked.

"It does!" Batman answered confidently, then called the Batmobile to stop in front of them.

It was clear that the Batmobile was a two-seater, so Kid and Tuxedo Mask would need to sit on top of each other.

...

"You go first!" Ada said. She knew that Liu A'dou had a habit of stealing glances, but as long as it stopped there, she didn't mind. She didn't think he was perverted, just found him amusing.

Because Liu A'dou's glances weren't lecherous; he simply appreciated beauty. And he would never make a bold move, which is why older women adored him. The experienced women enjoyed teasing innocent and naïve boys like him, knowing that while Liu A'dou might look like a playboy, if they really stripped down for him, he'd turn red from embarrassment.

Liu A'dou wasn't afraid of being crushed by Ada. But while his movements were smooth as he sat down, his posture, though dignified, showed signs of nervousness. Ada smiled secretly to herself, sitting comfortably on Liu A'dou's lap.

Thank you, Batman. Liu A'dou could only feel two soft lumps on his lap, his tears welling up with gratitude. This was Ada, the older sister he had admired since childhood. The close contact made his heart race.

Batman closed the car door and started driving back.

Liu A'dou felt nervous, his face turning bright red.

Batman, observant as ever, had noticed something strange about the thief. His breathing was erratic. Batman thought to himself, "So, he's young, and truly innocent."

Liu A'dou didn't want this to happen. Although he liked looking at beautiful women, he would never get handsy with them. He had spent decades as a high school student, so it was difficult for him not to be innocent.

Disrupted breathing meant that Ripple couldn't be used properly, so Ripple users were particularly sensitive to irregular breathing. Ada noticed Liu A'dou's shortness of breath and thought, "This time, I might have pushed things too far."

But Ada didn't know why she was acting like this. As a secret agent, she was supposed to control her emotions. But she felt she wasn't as composed either, as if a new relationship might be beginning.

The playboy Batman smiled secretly. What an interesting duo.

The car sped up a bit to avoid any further awkwardness.

The journey, lasting less than half an hour, was like fire and ice for Liu A'dou. On one hand, he was enjoying himself, but on the other, he was nervous. Indeed, there was desire without courage. After getting out of the car, Liu A'dou could still feel the warmth on his thigh, his face flushed. Under the white suit, it was painfully obvious, almost like a red light.

"I will use an energy detector to measure the wavelength frequency of the Ripple you've used to melt the ice layers. Who will go first?" Batman asked.

"I'll go first," Ada said. Liu A'dou still needed some time to calm his breathing.

"Alright." As he spoke, Batman called Alfred to bring some drinks and snacks.

In no time, the ever-dedicated butler, Alfred, came downstairs with a tray. "Please, help yourselves, esteemed guests."

"Thank you." Liu A'dou had calmed down and took a sip of the coffee. Good things truly taste good.

Alfred looked at the three in the Batcave, as though time had gone back to when Robin was around. His master had been lonely for so long; protecting the city alone was exhausting. But now, with Kaitou Kid and the lady in the black suit, his master would be able to breathe easier.

"Mr. Kaitou, please, enjoy yourself. There's no need to be modest." The polite butler said.

Liu A'dou was not one to be modest. "I will, thank you for your generosity." With that, he stuffed some snacks into his mouth.

The Batcave was fully equipped, and Liu A'dou didn't even have to do anything. The Ripple's wavelength had already been determined. Then, Batman used the supercomputer to calculate how much energy would be needed to fire the Ripple. Next, they would create a Ripple gun based on the principle of a microwave oven. This would allow them to face off against Mr. Freeze.

"Now, we need to find Mr. Freeze and figure out his identity." By the time night fell, Batman had already equipped himself with the Ripple gun.

"As far as I know, Mr. Freeze's real name is Victor Fries. He was a well-known cryogenic scientist from the last century. He developed human cryogenic technology because his wife had a terminal illness. He's a typical academic scientist who tends to get lost in his work."

Batman and Ada turned to Liu A'dou, thinking, how do you know this?

Liu A'dou shrugged. "That's from Kaitou Kid's intelligence network."

"Do you know where he's hiding?" Batman asked. While Mr. Freeze's situation was unfortunate, he still needed to be caught.

"If I'm not mistaken, he should be hiding on some abandoned oil rig out at sea," Liu A'dou said. He had learned that from old movies, but he couldn't be sure whether Mr. Freeze would be there in this world.

Batman would never overlook any possible location. He had the Batplane, so flying over the sea wouldn't take long. The three of them would act together—after all, facing an opponent as powerful as Mr. Freeze, more people meant more power.

Fortunately, Batman had several planes, including multi-seat fighters, so there wouldn't be the cramped, awkward situation like in the Batmobile.

Wealthy, you can't compare, Liu A'dou thought. He was no longer merely envious of Batman's hangar; he was beyond that. The city had armed combat jets, long-range strike aircraft, and high-altitude, even space-faring, military planes. It was terrifying.

It's all money, he thought. Just look at all the different types of fighter jets, and within each category, there were multiple models—single-seat, multi-seat, capable of handling all kinds of tasks and situations.

The larger multi-seat planes couldn't fly out through the Batcave's waterfall entrance, so they would exit through a cliffside exit behind the manor.

A steel door camouflaged as part of the cliff face opened downwards, and the black plane roared out, with the door slowly closing again behind it. No one would ever suspect that the cliff concealed an aircraft runway.

Truly, what an evil rich person. This was the first time Liu A'dou truly felt Batman's financial power firsthand.
