Chapter 76: Vampires Vs Lycans Part 2
***********************
Train Station
Lucian, towering over her, snarled, his claws slashing through the air, leaving trails of silver light in their wake. Amelia danced backward, her movements fluid and precise as she dodged each strike with the grace of a phantom. She wasn't just reacting, she was anticipating, predicting his every move, her eyes locked on his, studying his every twitch.Even as the Lycan's strength and size amplified his blows, Lucian's speed remained terrifyingly fast, but Amelia was always a step ahead.
Just when Amelia was about to deliver the final blow to end Lucian, a new threat emerged.
"Grrr," A Lycan, snarling with feral hunger, clawed his way up the side of the train, his eyes fixated on Amelia. He roared, a guttural sound that echoed through the smoke and debris, and charged towards her with reckless abandon.
Amelia frowned, seeing this. She wasn't troubled by the Lycan's attack, but its recklessness was baffling. 'They aren't that stupid,' she thought. Even though vampires often looked down on Lycans, she knew the leader of the Lycans wouldn't let his subordinate get killed without a cause. 'But why would this Lycan charge so recklessly' The doubt that had been gnawing at her since Kraven's arrival deepened.
Without pausing in her attack against Lucian, Amelia moved with the grace of a predator. She sidestepped, the Lycan's charge missing its mark by a hair's breadth, then swung her sword in a swift arc, decapitating the beast with a single, clean stroke. Its head rolled across the roof, landing with a sickening thud, and the body crumpled to the ground below. It was a testament to her skill, but it did little to ease her growing unease.
As she faced Lucian once more, Amelia couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. She glanced around, seeing more Lycans clambering onto the train, their eyes burning with a fanatic zeal. They charged, ignoring her previous warning and the fates of their comrades. It was as if they were driven by a force beyond their own control, their ferocity fueled by something else entirely.
Amelia's doubt solidified, a chilling suspicion taking root in her mind.
"What are they planning?" she muttered, her voice filled with a mixture of suspicion and apprehension.
Amelia looked at Lucian she saw his snout having a grin as Lucian raised his head before howling.
"AWOOO!" The other Lycans started rushing over, while Kraven walked past Lucian shooting at Amelia, Amelia dodged the bullet from left to right while she kept looking at Lucian in the eyes.
"I may not know your goal, but I wonder how much lives you are willing to sacrifice to achieve it," Amelia's eyes flared with a cold blue light, her body tensed like a coiled spring, ready to strike. She gripped her sword with both hands, its weight familiar and comforting in her grasp. Her gaze was fixed on the approaching Lycans, a predator assessing its prey.
She moved with a speed that defied the laws of nature. A single step forward, a flash of after image, and her sword was a silver flash, slicing through the air, taking the head of a Lycan clean off its shoulders. The beast crumpled to the roof, its blood painting the metal a gruesome red.
Spinning on her heels, she barely dodged the swipe of a clawed hand. Her sword, a deadly extension of her will, flashed again, lopping the Lycan's head off with a sickening thud.
Without pausing, she moved with a fluidity born of centuries of honed skill, her left hand shooting out with lightning speed. Her fingers closed around the chest of another charging Lycan, squeezing with a force that could crush steel. She tore through flesh and bone, her hand emerging with a pulsing, crimson heart.
Lucian's Lycan eyes narrowed as he saw his men dying like weeds against Amelia, but he didn't order them to stop. He knew, and his men knew, that taking down Amelia would make them achieve their long-time goal. They were willing to pay the price. Lucian looked down at Kraven, grunting a signal to the vampire regent to attack.
Kraven saw the look Lucian gave him and frowned. He always hated how Lucian ordered them around because of their cooperation, but he still followed what Lucian wanted, shouting.
"Fire!"
Kraven then kept shooting at Amelia, but he didn't hear any sound of gunshots. He looked around and finally saw the vampires with him, either cut in half or decapitated. Some of the bodies were missing limbs with severed arms and legs. He stopped firing, turning around, trying to find the one attacking them. Finally, he saw a white figure flashing with fast speed. He could only see a white blur.
"Stop it!" Kraven stopped paying attention to Amelia and started shooting at the white figure. Lena dodged the bullets coming towards Raze and Singe, who were holding a briefcase and hadn't transformed into a Lycan yet. When a whip flashed through her direction in front of her, making her stop.
"Who are you?" Soren asked, while waving his silver whip. In his long life, he hadn't seen a white-haired vampire with such speed, even faster than the elders.
"Oh, to think I will see a vampire helping a Lycan," Lena said with a raised brow and a soft smile on her face, before looking at Singe, then at the briefcase in his hand. She knew exactly what was in it, even she who completed all the sacred rituals can't help but have ideas about it, and her eyes gleamed with an almost predatory amusement. But in the end Lena only shook her head taking away her thoughts.
"Pity," she whispered before turning around, walking towards the train. When a whip went towards her from behind, Lena just took a step, turning around, looking at Soren with an expression of amusement, yet she didn't attack him. She still had plans for the three of them.
With a flick of her wrist, Lena's white hair flowed behind her like a swirling storm as she sped away, a blur of motion. She moved with a ferocity that belied her gentle smile. The Lycans, caught off guard, were no match for her speed. She was a whirlwind of silver, her sword a deadly blur, as she sliced through their ranks. She danced through their attacks, her movements fluid and precise, a ghostly presence that defied comprehension. Each swing of her blade was a symphony of death, leaving a trail of lifeless bodies in her wake.
With a final, graceful leap, she landed on the roof of the train beside Amelia, her expression unchanged, but her eyes gleaming with a newfound intensity, Lena eyes focus on Lucian, she knew about their plans, she knew if they succeed vampires will be disadvantage, she would already killed them but she knew 'He had plans for them'.
"Looks like you had your fun," Amelia said, her voice cool and calm, as she glanced at the Lycans' bodies that Lena had dispatched so swiftly. Her gaze hardened, and her mind raced. "If those two are dead, I'm gonna have that sacred ritual, and no one can stop me," she thought with eagerness. When Lena shared her vision, Lena started to persuade Amelia to take the sacred ritual.
The vision had shown her the destruction of the old world coven, Viktor and Marcus's deaths, and finally a person that can change their status in the supernatural world.
But Amelia disagreed, not believing Lena's vision. As the founder of the Nordic coven, beside Vidar, Amelia, of course, knew about the power and abilities of the vampires who participated in the sacred ritual.
At the same time, she knew that it was a risky path, a gamble with consequences that could shatter the delicate balance between vampires and the supernatural world.
Yet, that's why she didn't use it. The sacred ritual site would make many supernatural creatures attack their vampire clan for its use. That's why when she and Vidar founded the Nordic coven, they decided only the Nordic coven would be using it. After all, if they shared it with every coven, and elders, supernatural creatures would notice how much they changed. That's why the Nordic coven stayed in the peaceful way, only appearing if the vampires needed help and hiding, making many of the vampires don't know they exist or some even thinking their coven was just a myth.
And finally, Amelia didn't use it because she was the elder. She would appear in public, even hibernate, according to the elders' agreement. Her change would be noticed by Viktor and Marcus in just a matter of moments.
Amelia thought of the most important ability that you will get when you completed the sacred ritual, she raised her head to look at Lena's white hair. It was the ability that she craved, the ability that could shift the balance of power, the ability to become the strongest version of a vampire alive, the ability to walk under the sun again.
Lena walked in front of Amelia, facing Lucian. Her eyes gleamed with an icy blue intensity.
"Too many have died today. I know what you came after. We are willing to give it to you, in one condition," Lena said. The Lycans, hearing her words, stopped in their tracks. Lucian's eyes widened, and he started snarling. He didn't know how the vampires in front of him knew what their goal was, but that was more reason for them to kill the two vampires in front of him.
Lena looked at the Lycans that were about to attack and at Lucian, who was snarling at her. She calmly looked at them before pointing towards the direction of a radio on the ground with her right index finger.
"You should listen to that first, before you make a decision," Lena said, making Lucian's eyes narrow. While the Lycans wanted to achieve their goal, they wouldn't let go of a chance to achieve it without dying.
A moment later, when Lena pointed at the radio, it started to make a sound. A static sound could be heard, then a man's horrified voice and in the background, shouting and gunshots, could be heard from the radio.
[Help, we need help] a man's voice appeared on the radio.
[We need back up, a vampire is attacking the base!]
Lucian's eyes narrowed as he looked at the radio, then turned back towards Lena and Amelia, glaring at them. They knew something was going on.
"I'll repeat, we'll give you what you want, but we need a trade as well. Or do you still think you can take us both?" Lena said, with a soft smile still on her face, but everyone knew she was telling the truth. They couldn't kill the two of them.
Lucian released a low growl, as his eyes looked to Amelia and Lena. 'If it's only Amelia, we might get a chance,' he thought. He knew the white-haired vampire in front of him was right. Even if all of them died, they wouldn't achieve their goal. If it was only Amelia, they had a chance, but now there was a vampire, even faster than an elder. Just when Lucian was about to transform back to human, someone was already not satisfied with the outcome.
"Don't listen to them, we can take them both! There are just two of them!" Kraven shouted, walking past Lucian, pointing his pistol towards Lena. Kraven knew if Amelia and Lucian traded, the only one gonna get killed was him. He knew Amelia wouldn't let go of a traitor. That's why he reacted strongly. Kraven was the person that would do everything it took just to survive, so with that in mind, he pulled the trigger.
*Bang!* The gunshot sounded as the bullet flew through, hitting Lena on the forehead, knocking her head back a little.
Kraven froze, while Lucian's eyes widened. They both knew it was impossible for a bullet to hit the white-haired vampire with her fast speed.
Kraven's frozen arm began to tremble slightly. 'I don't know why she didn't dodge, but now it's my chance,' he thought. He had seen what a UV bullet could do to a vampire, and with the bullet hitting her on the head, Kraven didn't believe she could survive. Just when Kraven was about to open his mouth to encourage Lucian to keep fighting, his pistol was going to point at Amelia.
Lena lowered her head down, before twisting it side to side, making a cracking sound in the bones, then looking at Kraven, while her wound began to heal.
"That's just rude," Lena said towards Kraven with narrowed eyes. She didn't judge because she wanted the Lycans to see what she was capable of, and their little weapons didn't affect her.
"Impossible, impossible, How can you do that?!" Kraven shouted in disbelief. He knew why the vampires, who were shot by UV bullets wouldn't survive and the only way to survive was not being afraid of sunlight. Kraven couldn't believe the absurdity of what he was seeing. He couldn't accept that there was a vampire immune to sunlight and more importantly it was not him.
*Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!*
Kraven kept shooting, with an ugly face, trying to kill Lena completely, but she just kept dodging, while the bullet on Lena's forehead fell down, as purple liquid began to come out of her wound.
"How can you exist!" Kraven shouted in bitterness and envy before the pistol in his hand made a clicking sound, showing it was out of ammo. Just when Kraven was about to check the pistol, a claw stretched out and clamped down on his neck. With a quick, desperate reaction, Kraven turned, but he couldn't dodge. The claw was too close.
"You," Kraven snarled, his voice thick with rage as he grabbed Lucian's arm, glaring at him for betraying him. He struggled to break free, but Lucian's grip was iron. A low growl rumbled in Lucian's chest, a primal sound that sent shivers down Kraven's spine.
Without a word, Lucian lifted Kraven off the ground, his grip tightening, squeezing the air out of Kraven's lungs. He held him aloft, a grim trophy in his powerful claws. With a swift, brutal movement, Lucian opened his jaw, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth, dripping with sickening anticipation. He sank his fangs into Kraven's skull, a deep, piercing bite that sent a wave of pain through Kraven's body. Kraven's eyes bulged as he tried to scream, but the only sound that escaped was a strangled gurgle.
Lucian's grip didn't loosen. Instead, he twisted, using his immense strength to wrench Kraven's head completely off, a sickening, bone-shattering sound that echoed across the platform.
Blood splattered across the concrete as Kraven's head tumbled to the ground, landing with a thud. Lucian didn't even flinch, his gaze unwavering as he looked at Lena and Amelia before he casually spat out Kraven's head as if it were a piece of unwanted garbage.
Lucian's muscles spasmed and contorted, his claws retracted with a snap while his fur began to recede. His massive frame shrank, his features becoming more human, but the wary look in his eyes remained.
He stood there stark naked, being a human again, looking at Lena and Amelia with a grim face.
"What do you want?" Lucian asked, his voice a low growl. His gaze flickered nervously between Lena and Amelia, suspicion etched onto his brow yet overshadowed by a chilling awareness of their immense power. He knew, hopelessly, that they were outmatched
Amelia didn't bother to speak if it was her, she would just kill them all completely but she noticed that Lena's vision might be right, that's why she was letting Lena do what she wants.
While Lena showed another soft smile,
"Your blood."
