Chapter 77: Hybrid

************************

TRAIN STATION

Soren's eyes widened, finally reacting to the scene before him. He looked at Kraven's headless body lying on the ground, and a cold fear gripped him, then spun around.

He knew, instinctively, that he was next. The Lycans had betrayed their agreement. But someone reacted faster than Soren.

Singe, seeing what Lucian had done, smashed the back of Soren's head with his suitcase. The impact sent Soren stumbling to the ground, his head spinning.

Just as Soren started to rise, a foot landed on his back. He looked up to see Raze, the Lycan he'd always longed to kill.

Raze looked at him with a cruel smile playing on his lips.

"Take your foot off me, you mutt!" Soren spat, his voice laced with disdain. He knew it would only enrage Raze further, but he didn't care. He was trapped and couldn't escape; he knew that the Lycan wouldn't let this chance go.

"I'm going to enjoy this," Raze's grin widened, his eyes glowing with cloudy blue light. He tore off his coat, his body rippling with energy. A wave of transformation surged through him, muscles bulging and contorting as his form shifted. Fur erupted from his skin, spreading across his body like a dark, swirling storm. His nose and mouth elongated, features sharpening into a wolfish snarl. The ground trembled as Raze, in his full Lycan form, descended upon Soren. The vampire screamed in pain as the immense weight pressed down on him.

"Argh! Get off, you slave!" Soren yelled, struggling against Raze's crushing weight.

Raze just grinned, his claws glinting in the dim light. His left claw pressed Soren's head into the ground, while his right claw reached down, grasping Soren's arm.

"RAWWWRR!" Raze roared, a sound that echoed through the train station. With a sickening snap, he tore Soren's right arm off.

"Ahhh!" Soren screamed, his head throbbing against the concrete, his pride shattered, his left hand clawing at the ground in desperation.

Raze, unmoved, roared again and ripped off Soren's left arm. Then, he grabbed Soren's head, lifting it from the ground, his eyes burning with a cold fury.

"Ha-ha, fuck you," Soren managed to gasp, a deranged smile spreading across his lips. He knew his fate was doomed; he wouldn't survive.

"I'll be waiting for you in hell, dog," Soren spat, his words filled with spite and sarcasm.

Raze snarled, his right claws grabbed Soren's head harder. His right index and middle fingers stabbed into Soren's eyes, blinding the vampire with a jolt of agony. Then Raze held on Soren's head tightened.

"AHHHHH!" Soren screamed, in pain and rage, before gritting his teeth not wanting to give the Lycan the satisfaction of killing him.

"RAWWRR!"

With the final, heart-wrenching roar, Raze pulled Soren's head upwards making Soren's cheeks separated in the middle as blood spilled on the ground, a sickening sight, before Raze completely took off Soren's upper head leaving the jaw behind.

"AWWOOOOOO!" Raze howled, his victory cry echoing across the train station, announcing his finished revenge on his most hated rival.

"Are you done?" Singe asked, walking past Raze. He adjusts his glasses up, pushing it with his index and middle finger and then jumping onto the roof of the train, his suitcase in hand.

Raze snarled, picking up Soren's body with his claws and climbing onto the train.

Lucian took a step back, his brow furrowed, as he looked at Amelia and Lena with wary eyes.

"And why would I give you my blood?" he asked reluctantly, his voice filled with suspicion. He knew the risk of giving someone else his blood, the magic and curses it could hold.

Amelia remained silent, sheathing her sword, her gaze sweeping across the Lycans, who were transforming back into their human forms. Although she wielded a sword, she could have easily dispatched them with her claws, ripping through their flesh and bone. But the sword was a cleaner kill, a way to maintain her dignity. Even as an ancient vampire, she was still a woman, and a woman had standards.

"We both know what you want," Lena said, her voice smooth as silk. "Blood for blood. Don't you think it's just fair?" Her gaze shifted to Singe, who stood behind Lucian, his suitcase clutched in his hand, making her meaning clear.

Lucian turned, following Lena's gaze to the suitcase. His expression darkened before he looked at Raze, who had thrown Soren's body at his feet.

"I didn't know vampires had powers like yours," Lucian muttered, his voice laced with confusion. He crouched, reaching for Soren's clothes, a desperate attempt to confirm his suspicions. He needed to know more about the white-haired vampire, her speed, her precognitive abilities. How could she know their plans? It wasn't possible unless she had an informant, but he knew that was impossible. She'd killed them all, mercilessly.

"We've always existed, we just chose not to participate in your war. Our coven has always sought peace," Lena said, a soft smile playing on her lips. She couldn't help but feel a surge of pride as she spoke. The Nordic Coven was the strongest, the most unique coven in existence.

Lucian raised a skeptical eyebrow, his movements halting as he pulled Soren's pants off. He stood up, his gaze shifting between Lena, the dead Lycans and vampires, and the blood-soaked battlefield.

"Peace? Right," he said sarcastically, unconvinced. He shook his head. Although doubtful of Lena's claim, he now confirmed more vampires like the white-haired one existed, meaning even if they successfully killed the masked man would be followed by a confrontation with more such beings.

'Looks like we need this to work more than I thought,' Lucian thought, his mind racing. The only way for Lycans to achieve the same level of status as the vampires was to become stronger.

"So, what are you going to do with my blood?" Lucian asked, putting on Soren's pants. His focus remained on Lena; he needed to know if the vampires had a plan similar to theirs.

"I don't think that concerns you. It's not like we're asking why you want Elder blood," Lena smirked, knowing his thoughts. "But if you must know, it's a gift," she added, her smirk softening into a smile.

Lucian looked at her with unconcealed doubt. "If you don't want to say it, then don't," he said, disbelieving her explanation.

"I'm telling the truth," Lena said, her smile turning playful. "More like an offering than a gift." She extended her hand towards Lucian, she opened her palm.

"Then shall we?" She waited for Lucian to agree.

Lucian's eyes narrowed. Though skeptical, he knew this was their only path to success. He looked at Singe, who opened the suitcase. Inside were vials of blood and empty vials prepared for Amelia. Lucian took an empty vial, tossing it to Lena, then taking another empty vial to collect his own blood.

Lena caught the vial, her gaze shifting to Amelia. "Your blood, please," Lena said, her voice was smooth and gentle. It was as if she were asking for a glass of water.

Amelia, however, frowned, clearly uncomfortable with the request.

"You didn't tell me you needed my blood," Amelia said, frowning, but still taking a vial. Extending a nail, she cut her palm and let the blood drip into the vial.

"Are you sure this is going to work?" Amelia asked, her eyes filled with complex emotions, now believing in Lena's vision but even with her long life, she couldn't fathom such a power.

"I'm not sure when it comes to that man," Lena admitted, a bitter smile twisting her lips. She reached for her armor, caressing the metal plate that covered her chest. Beneath it, on her skin, was a mark, a warning.

Lena took the vial from Amelia, turned towards Lucian, and tossed her vial of blood into the air, Lucian caught it before tossing his vial filled with his blood as Lena caught it.

Lucian was about to grab another empty vial when Singe stopped his hand.

"We only need one," Singe whispered. They could either have Lucian bite them or feed them directly with his blood if he succeeded.

"Looks like we're done here," Lena said, overhearing Lucian and Singe's exchange. As she and Amelia prepared to leave, Lena paused, turning back to Lucian with a playful smile. "Since we traded, I'll give you some advice, change your name. Otherwise, you won't know how you die, even if your plans succeed," she said, leaving Lucian and the other Lycans pondering her words.

"Are you done?" Amelia asked Lena, not wanting to spend time in a place full of Lycans, Lena just nodded slightly towards Amelia.

Amelia gave Lena a look before sparing a look at Lucian and the other Lycans before vanishing at incredible speed, Lena following close behind.

Lucian stared at the empty spot where Lena had been moments before. He was filled with a mixture of annoyance and anger. He didn't believe her warning, but he couldn't shake off the feeling in his instinct that she had been right.

He turned back to Singe, who was gathering the remaining vials.

"Are you sure it's going to work?" Lucian asked, his voice tight with concern.

"We'll know if you're still alive," Singe replied, a deranged smile stretching across his face. He knelt, laying down the suitcase on the train's roof. He pulled out a syringe, drawing up Michael's blood from a vial, then Amelia's blood from the vial they just got. He stood up, holding the syringe towards Lucian.

"It better work," Lucian said, his frown deepening. He had no time to hesitate. He needed to be strong. Their base needed him. He took the syringe, his hand trembling slightly.

He stabbed the needle into his chest, right into his heart.

A wave of energy pulsed through him, a shockwave of raw power that ripped through his veins. He gasped, a sharp, painful intake of breath as his body convulsed, muscles spasming with incredible force. The mixture of vampire and werewolf blood, injected directly into his heart, began to take effect. His skin turned a sickly blue-grey, like a shadow clinging to his flesh. His eyes, once a piercing blue, turned completely black, reflecting an ancient, primal hunger.

A guttural growl rose in his throat, a primal sound that echoed the transformation raging within him. His teeth lengthened, sharpening into fangs, and a primal, animalistic intensity burned in his eyes. His limbs, once strong, now felt imbued with a newfound, unstoppable power.

Lucian's body convulsed, a symphony of pain and power, as his transformation reached its apex. He braced himself against the intense sensations, his mind battling against the onslaught of primal urges. He felt the blood of both vampire and werewolf surge through his veins, a fusion of two ancient, powerful bloodlines.

"ROOOAAAARRRRR!"

He opened his mouth, a loud roar erupting from his throat, a sound that resonated with both animalistic fury and a touch of terrifying power. He was no longer just the first Lycan. He was something new, something more, something born from the fusion of two ancient viruses.

He was the first hybrid.

•-----•-----•-----•-----•

Meanwhile in the distance, Amelia and Lena halted, turning at the sound of Lucian's roar. Amelia's eyes narrowed, her hand tightening on her sword hilt. She turned to Lena, who simply raised a curious eyebrow.

Amelia's eyes narrowed before her hand instinctively tightened on the hilt of her sword, a defensive posture. She glanced at Lena, who had turned to face her, a faint amusement playing on her lips.

"Are you not even the slightest bit worried about what they can do?" Amelia asked, her voice filled with doubt. While she worried about the Lycans becoming hybrids, she knew that their threat was limited. They might pose a danger to ordinary vampires, but she had faith in the sacred ritual that can grant the abilities, a power that transcended anything a hybrid could muster, that would make their victory inevitable.

Lena shook her head, a dismissive gesture. "I'm not worried," she whispered, her gaze fixed on the distant horizon. "He won't last long. He didn't need a hybrid."

Without another word, Lena turned and began to walk, her steps swift and sure.

Amelia, shook her head in amusement followed closely behind. They had a destination to reach, a goal to fulfill. They had to confirm Lena's vision, a vision that would change their world forever, starting from the Ördögház ruins.
