Chapter 31: The Yuri Knight Strikes
The forest held its breath, the wind stilled, and the night air was thick with tension. The Kumo shinobi stood frozen, their gazes locked on the small figure before them. Her silver-white hair caught the moonlight, her violet eyes glowing with an eerie, unshakable confidence. She was barely taller than their captive, yet she exuded a presence that made the air feel heavier, like the charged atmosphere before a storm.
Hoshikawa, the squad leader, gritted his teeth, his grip tightening on the hilts of his twin lightning-infused blades. "A kid?" His voice was full of disbelief. "This has to be a joke."
The female kunoichi beside him, a Wind-style user, frowned. "She doesn't feel normal."
One of the others sneered, taking a step forward. "Tch. She's just a brat playing ninja."
Raven smirked, tilting her head slightly. "Funny. I was about to say the same thing about you."
Hinata, still bound on the ground, watched in awe, her heart hammering in her chest. Raven looked so… confident. So strong. She wasn't even afraid. She moved like someone who already knew she had won. The way her violet eyes shimmered in the dark reminded Hinata of the noble warriors in the old Hyūga stories—like a knight from another time.
Hinata had never seen anyone like her.
One of the Kumo ninja scoffed. "I'll handle this." He formed quick hand signs and slammed his hands into the ground. "Earth Style: Stone Pillar Prison!"
The ground rumbled as several massive stone pillars erupted around Raven, closing in on her from all sides, forming an inescapable cage.
Raven didn't move.
Yuumi's voice purred in her mind. "Oh no, she's trapped. Whatever will she do?"
Raven sighed. "Cute trick."
The Life-Breaker Chains shot forward, golden and unyielding, wrapping around the stone pillars and crushing them to dust in seconds. The sheer force of the destruction sent tremors through the earth, causing the shinobi closest to her to stagger backward.
"The hell?!" one of them hissed.
Raven tilted her head, her smirk widening. "Were you expecting that to work?"
Hoshikawa let out a low growl. "Enough of this." Lightning crackled around him as he unsheathed his twin swords, the air around them humming with lethal energy. "Lightning Style: Thunder Fang Barrage!"
He disappeared.
The moment before impact stretched endlessly in Hinata's mind. The world seemed to move in slow motion as Hoshikawa reappeared in front of Raven, his swords already mid-swing, twin arcs of blue lightning slicing through the air toward her neck.
For a fraction of a second, Hinata felt her breath stop.
Then—
SNAP!
Raven's Life-Breaker Chains surged forward, intercepting the attack mid-air. The instant the crackling blades met her golden chains, the lightning fizzled out, absorbed into the unbreakable chakra construct as if it were nothing more than static electricity. Sparks flew as the chains twisted around Hoshikawa's weapons, yanking them from his hands with such force that they were sent flying, embedding deep into a nearby tree.
Hoshikawa stumbled backward, eyes wide. "What—?!"
Raven smirked. "Not impressed."
Before he could react, she vanished.
"Where did she—?!"
The female Kumo-nin barely had time to react before a blur of silver and violet appeared before her. Raven's palm slammed against the woman's stomach, golden chakra surging outward.
"Sealing Art: Chakra Bind!"
The kunoichi let out a strangled gasp as the seals spread across her body, locking her chakra completely. Her knees buckled as she collapsed, powerless.
"What the hell is she?!" one of the remaining shinobi yelled, forming quick hand signs.
"Wind Style: Blade Tempest!"
A tornado of razor-sharp wind ripped through the battlefield, howling with lethal precision as it tore through the trees, slicing everything in its path.
But Raven didn't move.
She lifted her hand, a glowing seal forming at her fingertips.
"Sealing Art: Mirror Veil!"
The instant the wind jutsu made contact with her seal, it rebounded, reversing course and flying back toward its own caster. The Wind-user's eyes widened in horror as her own technique slammed into her, sending her hurtling through the trees, her body colliding hard against the trunk before she crumpled to the ground.
Raven exhaled softly. "Two down."
Hinata, still bound, watched in awe. She's incredible. She's barely moving, but they can't touch her. She's so elegant, so composed… like she already knew she had won.
Hinata felt something stir deep inside her chest. She wanted to be like that. She wanted to be strong. She wanted to stand tall, unshaken. She wanted to walk beside someone like Raven.
Her cheeks burned, and she clutched the ropes still binding her hands, her heart pounding furiously.
The last two shinobi exchanged a brief look.
"She's dangerous. We take her down together."
They moved in perfect synchronization, their hands flashing through seals.
The first ninja slammed his hands onto the ground. "Earth Style: Crushing Boulder Jutsu!"
The ground cracked as a massive rock formation erupted above Raven, its sheer weight threatening to crush her.
The second ninja leaped into the air, his hands moving even faster. "Fire Style: Exploding Flame Dragon!"
A massive, spiraling dragon of fire roared forward, twisting in the air, its molten fangs merging with the crushing boulder, creating an unstoppable wave of destruction.
The battlefield rumbled violently as both jutsu merged and rushed toward Raven at full force.
Hinata's breath caught.
Even Yuumi tensed. Alright, little fox. Let's see how you—
Then Raven smiled.
She lifted her hand, her palm glowing bright green-gold.
"Sealing Art: Absolute Suppression."
The moment the words left her lips, the entire battlefield shifted.
A massive, intricate sealing array spread across the ground, pulsing with gravity-like force.
The Fire Dragon vanished instantly.
The Crushing Boulder crumbled to dust.
The two shinobi who had cast the jutsu collapsed, their chakra completely severed, unable to even lift their limbs.
Raven lowered her hand, her chains slithering around them like golden vipers.
"Game over."
Hoshikawa, still standing, gritted his teeth in pure rage.
"You little—!"
He charged forward, his hands crackling with raw lightning, desperate to land a final hit.
Raven sighed.
She lifted her hand.
A single Life-Breaker Chain shot forward.
It wrapped around his throat, lifting him off his feet, and slammed him into the ground so hard the earth cracked beneath him.
Silence.
Raven tilted her head. "Are we done now?"
Hoshikawa didn't answer.
He couldn't.
He was unconscious.
With the battle over, Raven turned to Hinata, walking toward her slowly. The little Hyūga stared up at her, eyes still wide with wonder.
"Hey, little princess," Raven murmured, crouching beside her. "You okay?"
Hinata's heart pounded. She opened her mouth to speak, but the words caught in her throat. She could only nod, blushing furiously.
Raven chuckled softly, slicing through her bindings with a gentle flick of her fingers.
"You're safe now," she whispered.
Hinata hesitated, then suddenly threw herself into Raven's arms, clutching onto her tightly.
Raven stiffened in surprise, but then gently patted Hinata's head, letting the little girl hold onto her.
Yuumi, still in the trees, grinned. "Oh yeah," she said. "She's smitten."
Raven just smiled.
"Let's get you home, princess."
