Chapter 259: MD-Chapter 258 A Historic Meeting!
To put it simply, Arthur is still just one person.
And since parting ways with Spider-Man, he's been through a lot.
The universe, wars, the Asgard, Kamar-Taj, Odin's family conflicts, the Chitauri invasion...
It's one thing after another, chaos piling up, and it's only natural that some things get overlooked.
But fortunately, Spider-Man reached out to him today, sharing this information and reminding him that things haven't reached their worst yet.
Arthur pondered all of this while sitting on a bench in the police station.
Next to him, Parker was close to crying, occasionally holding his notebook up to his face for fear that some familiar police officers might recognize him.
"All right, stop hiding."
Arthur pulled his hand down. "When you commit crimes, you wear a mask. They won't recognize you."
Parker stared at him with a dumbfounded look on his face. When Arthur said this, there was no attempt to hide it, and the police officers in the station were all looking at them.
Arthur had no idea what they were thinking.
"You... you don't have a license, but you're driving?" Parker almost cried. "And I actually dared to get in it..."
"Trust me, the car is safe. Even if we crash, we'll be fine," Arthur said confidently. "The only ones who will be in trouble are the others."
The policemen immediately sneered at Arthur. This guy, who put his safety above others, clearly had no moral compass.
Just as some of the officers couldn't stand it anymore and were about to approach them, the sound of footsteps echoed through the station.
Pepper, dressed in a professional suit, strode forward, a gust of wind following her. She approached them quickly.
Two others followed, but it wasn't clear what their roles were.
The aura she carried made everyone around her take notice.
Pepper immediately spotted Arthur and rushed over. "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, it's fine," Arthur said in a pompous manner. "When can I leave this place?"
Pepper gave him a little eye roll. "You're not usually like this, are you? Who are you putting on a show for?"
Then she said, "Don't worry, we'll be leaving soon."
She introduced the two people behind her. "This is..."
"I don't need to know who they are. As long as they can help me, I can pay," Arthur said, putting his arm around Spider-Man's shoulders. "My friend and I are looking for some fun, and we don't want to stay here too long, so you'd better hurry."
"Understood."
Pepper responded quickly and efficiently.
...
...
Less than ten minutes later, Arthur and Parker left the police station, under the watchful eyes of a group of police officers who seemed ready to kill.
Once they were in the car, Pepper finally asked, "Who were you looking out for?"
"Everyone."
Arthur activated the Eye of Horus and scanned the area to make sure everything was okay before shrugging. "I'm just adding another layer to my persona. How do I look? Do I resemble Tony?"
"I can't even bring myself to say 'no.'"
Pepper was stunned. That arrogant attitude had been a perfect match for Tony in the past.
Parker, still shocked, asked, "So you did this on purpose? What happened? I almost wanted to hit you."
"I'll tell you later."
Arthur told Spider-Man to calm down, then turned to Pepper. "Get me a driver's license as soon as you can. I'm supposed to be a superhero, and I almost got in trouble for driving without a license."
"No...you just have to pay."
Pepper sighed and said, "You didn't even explain what happened, just said you were picked up by the police. Tony almost came here himself."
"Who is this?"
Parker, seeing that no one was paying attention to him, subtly tried to make his presence known.
"Hello, I'm..." Pepper began to speak, preparing to introduce herself politely.
"She's my niece-in-law." Arthur interrupted.
"Huh?" Parker froze, surprised at the answer.
"We're not married yet!" Pepper said firmly.
"It's only a matter of time," Arthur replied. "Anyway, I'm rooting for you. Well, I'm off. By the way, where's my little black car?"
"Around the corner," Pepper pointed out.
Arthur got out of the car with Parker, found his beloved car at the corner and drove off again.
It wasn't until the car had driven several miles that Parker finally reacted. "Wait, you're still driving without a license!"
The communicator beeped and Arthur answered. Tony's face appeared on the windshield. "Your license is ready. Come pick it up when you have time... You didn't tell me earlier, is your memory failing you? Hmm, forgetfulness in old age, I can understand that."
Arthur's face darkened. "I'll pick it up tomorrow."
After hanging up, Arthur turned to Spider-Man and said, "See? Now I have a license."
Stunned, Parker felt his worldview shattered. "Is this... fake? Isn't that illegal?"
"Tony Stark, your beloved Iron Man, wouldn't make a fake license to fool people, would he?"
Arthur countered.
"Right." Parker finally understood. "Oh my God, that was Tony Stark! I actually met Mr. Stark! Can we get the license today? Can I see Mr. Stark in person? Can I touch his face?"
"Are you seriously a pervert?"
Arthur stared at him, stunned. It's one thing to meet your idol, but to touch his face?!
That's crossing the line!
But since Spider-Man insisted, Arthur took him to Stark Industries and showed him straight to Tony's office on the top floor.
Tony was very curious about this new guest.
Since he was with Arthur, Tony didn't dare underestimate him, but he was clearly confused. "I thought your son might be mixed or just pure Asian... but I didn't expect him to be pure... um, Caucasian?"
Then he extended his hand to Parker. "Hello, little brother. Nice to see you've grown so much."
Avoiding the usual scene of a bunch of little kids calling him "big brother" was a relief to Tony.
"You clearly misunderstood some subtle things."
Arthur rolled his eyes.
Parker didn't pick up on Tony's comment and excitedly said, "I'm so happy to meet you, Mr. Tony Stark! My name is Peter, Peter Parker!"
"So your last name is Parker..."
Tony turned to Arthur, then paused and stared at him in confusion. After a moment, realization dawned on him. "Now can you tell me who this kid is?"
"Peter Parker! Your fan, Banner's idol, the city's clean Doffer... and the pervert in a spider suit... Spider-Man," Arthur said with a smile. "This is a historic meeting."
