Chapter 110: Marvel 110
"Hello," one of the newcomers said. He had a lean build like Liam, with black hair. "My name is Leon, and I'm an E-rank Hunter. Nice to meet you," he introduced himself with a smile. Matt nodded in acknowledgment. It was Leon who had invited the other three to fill the required numbers for this E-rank Dungeon.
"I'm Trion, D-rank," said another guy with a confident tone.
"Misty, also D-rank," a girl added with a polite nod.
"Okay, as per our agreement, we'll pay you all $100 each just for making up the numbers," Matt explained. The three nodded, though Trion seemed intrigued.
"But we can still earn more by slaying monsters, right?" Trion asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, you can," Matt replied calmly.
Trion looked at them skeptically. "Where's your gear?" he asked, noticing the lack of weapons or armor on Matt, Brian, and Liam. Leon and Misty also glanced at them in confusion.
"We're A-rank. You don't need to worry about us," Matt said confidently.
Trion scoffed. "A-rank? Then what are you guys doing here in an E-rank dungeon?" he asked incredulously.
"Yeah, if you're A-rank, you should already have some high-end weapons. Why are you even here?" Misty chimed in, her tone filled with doubt.
Matt remained unbothered as he held up his Hunter license. "Here's my proof," he said, displaying his A-rank certification. Brian and Liam followed suit, showing their own licenses.
"We're just testing our skills before moving to higher-ranked dungeons," Matt explained casually.
Trion narrowed his eyes, still skeptical. "You guys are bluffing. If I were A-rank, I wouldn't waste my time here in an E-rank dungeon," he said dismissively.
Matt smirked inwardly but didn't respond. Instead, he turned and gestured for everyone to head toward the dungeon entrance.
"You guys can find out for yourselves," Matt said, stepping into the portal without hesitation. The Association staff member near the entrance counted the required number of participants, nodded, and returned to his post outside.
The remaining three—Leon, Trion, and Misty—exchanged glances before deciding to follow. As they entered the dungeon, a dimly lit cavern greeted them, the air thick with the scent of damp earth. Scattered ahead were goblins, their beady eyes glowing as they snarled at the group.
"It's a goblin dungeon," Misty said, narrowing her eyes. "Strength-wise, goblins shouldn't be below D rank… unless association made a mistake about Dungeon rank."
Matt nodded thoughtfully. "Maybe the Association made a mistake, or it's a borderline case," he replied, keeping his tone even.
Borderline case which means either peak of E rank or lowest of D rank and such scenarios.
The goblins began to shriek and charge toward them in a chaotic mob. Trion tightened his grip on his weapon. "Mistake or not, this is more than we signed up for!"
Leon, already nervous, glanced at Matt and his team. "You said you didn't bring gear. Are you really A-rank? Can you handle this?" he asked anxiously.
Matt gave him a calm look. "You'll see soon enough." He glanced at Brian and Liam. "Stick to the plan. Let's test out your skills"
Matt made a grabbing motion, and a shimmering golden sword materialized in his hand. With a swift swing, he unleashed a golden arc that sliced clean through the goblins, killing nearly 30 of them in one powerful motion.
"You three can start collecting the Magic Cores," Matt said casually, as if his impressive display of power was no big deal. The stunned expressions of Leon, Trion, and Misty lingered as they processed what just happened. Slowly, they nodded, hesitating at first but then scurrying to gather the glowing cores.
Leon looked up from his task, awe evident in his voice. "That skill is insane! It wiped out the whole group in one hit."
Brian grinned. "Damm you are strong." He nudged Liam. "Let's work on our skills too."
"Yeah, Matt, show us how to do that thing you mentioned earlier," Liam added, eager.
Matt nodded and gestured for them to stand still. "Alright. Close your eyes and try to focus on your hands. Feel the mana flowing through your body. Visualize it, like forming a shape or making a gesture, and let your instincts guide you. It'll come naturally if you relax."
The two followed his instructions. Liam furrowed his brow, clenching his fists, while Brian stood still, his expression concentrated. Slowly, their efforts bore fruit.
Red mana coalesced around Brian, forming a glowing aura. His eyes widened as he clenched his fists. "I feel… stronger. Like my strength just skyrocketed! My muscles feel like they've been reinforced with power," he exclaimed, marveling at the sensation.
"That's the essence of your skill—Red Tyrant," Matt explained with a nod of approval.
Brian looked at Liam, who was now being surrounded by flickering lights that danced around him like playful sprites. "What are those?" Brian asked curiously, pointing at the glowing figures.
Matt glanced at Liam and smiled. "Those are elemental spirits—low-level ones. As your mastery grows, you'll be able to summon stronger and more diverse spirits to aid you in battle."
Liam, entranced, reached out to one of the glowing figures. It responded by releasing a burst of fire, which flared up and formed into a small orb before vanishing. "This is incredible. I can actually control them," Liam said, a grin spreading across his face.
One of the spirits, a fire sprite, hovered close to Liam's sword, igniting it further. Another spirit—a water sprite—released a jet of water that extinguished some embers nearby. Liam turned to Matt. "I feel like I'm only scratching the surface of what they can do."
Matt nodded. "Exactly. The more you practice, the more attuned you'll become. For now, they're at their most basic level. But eventually, you'll gain the ability to summon powerful elemental entities."
Brian, examining his own glowing aura, chuckled. "Well, at least my skills feels straightforward. I just hit things harder."
The trio continued their exploration, wiping out goblin after goblin in the dungeon with ease. The three hired hunters—Leon, Trion, and Misty—stood at a distance, observing the new A-rankers with awe.
"These guys… they're definitely A-rank," Trion muttered, watching Brian crush a goblin with a single swing and Liam dispatching another with an explosive blast of fire.
"Yeah, and they've only just awakened. They're still taking it easy. Imagine what they could do at full power," Misty said, a hint of admiration in her tone.
