Chapter 116: Marvel 116
The room fell silent, the only sound being the faint bubbling of lava.
"We did it!" Leon exclaimed, lowering his hands as the protective barrier dissolved.
"Nice work, everyone," Matt said, looking at them. "That was teamwork at its best."
Trion grinned, wiping sweat from his brow. "That was intense. But I'm getting the hang of this pyromancer thing."
Misty smiled, her Dark Hounds dissolving as she released her mana. "Not bad for our first big boss fight, huh?"
Brian looked at the hound and said, "Can't believe I punched that thing."
Liam nodded. "We're one hell of a team."
Matt approached the remains of the Alpha, retrieving a glowing red gem from its core. "This is the Lava Core," he said, holding it up. "A rare material. It'll come in handy later."
He then opened the chest that appeared after the boss's death. Inside, he found three items: a skill book and two pieces of equipment.
He turned to Brian. "These gauntlets should suit you," he said, throwing them to him. Then, taking the Inferno Sword, he handed it to Misty. "For you. You've got to test the Dead Raising skill, now is the time for your warrior side, so take this and use it on your next raid"
Misty nodded, holding the Inferno Sword with a determined look.
"Okay, let's go back and get to the next dungeon," Matt said, as the others nodded in agreement.
Returning, they took on another dungeon — this one featuring High Orcs.
Now standing in front of their next dungeon, which was located in an old abandoned building, Matt spoke up. "This one's big. It's a High Orc dungeon, which means we'll be facing some well-trained warriors."
"This is the best place for you guys to learn and train your powers," Matt said as they looked at him.
"You know, we barely did our best against those Lava Hounds, and it was difficult. Yet, you're pushing us against powerful High Orcs?" Liam asked, confused.
Matt replied confidently, "Don't worry. I'll make sure none of you die. You might suffer some broken bones, but we've got our own healer. Leon's Light Guardian trait can heal others too," he added with a smile that sent chills down their spines.
"Okay, now, Misty, as I said, your Death Tyrant isn't just about Necromancy — you can use death mana to empower yourself, just like Brian here. He has the Red Tyrant talent, which allows him to increase his physical strength and speed," Matt explained, glancing at Brian.
"Now, Liam, you might have noticed earlier in the dungeon that you called a high-grade spirit with your Spirit Summoner trait. You can do it again if you focus enough," Matt continued, letting Liam nod in understanding.
"Good. Trion, you're doing better. Just keep controlling your Pyromancer trait like that," Matt said, and Trion nodded in agreement.
Matt sat back, watching as the group prepared to enter the dungeon. The old abandoned building loomed ominously in front of them, the air thick with tension. His team was still relatively new to these kinds of fights, but he had no doubt they were up for the challenge.
"Alright," Matt said, his voice calm but firm. "Remember, stay in formation and be ready to adapt. I'll be around to help if things get too rough, but don't rely on me too much. This is your training ground."
As they ventured inside, the atmosphere shifted. The dim light cast long shadows, and the creaking of the structure echoed through the empty halls. The walls were lined with old, broken furniture and debris, making it difficult to navigate. Their footsteps were quiet, but their senses were alert, every corner of the dungeon feeling like a potential threat.
Suddenly, the ground trembled, and the sound of heavy footsteps rang through the air. A group of High Orcs emerged from the shadows, their armored bodies towering over the team. They were massive, with eyes full of malice.
Misty quickly summoned her Dark Hounds, sending them forward to scout. The beasts howled, their forms glowing in the dim light, but the Orcs reacted quickly, drawing their massive swords.
"Here we go," Trion said, clenching his fists. He focused, flames beginning to swirl around his arms as he prepared to unleash his fire.
Liam was the first to charge, his Spirit Summoner trait activating as a high-grade wolf spirit materialized beside him. The wolf's ethereal form was a blur of silver, attacking the Orcs with swift, deadly strikes.
"Watch your backs!" Matt called, his voice booming in the quiet space. He snapped his fingers, and a protective barrier appeared around Liam just as an Orc swung its blade toward him. The sword clanged against the barrier, sending a shockwave through the air.
"Thanks!" Liam shouted, slashing with his spirit at another Orc.
Matt stepped forward, casting a quick spell to boost their fighting abilities. His mana swirled around him, and for a moment, the air seemed to crackle with energy. He watched as Trion fired a blast of flames at a group of Orcs, the heat intense enough to force them to stagger back.
Misty raised the Inferno Sword, the blade glowing with fiery power. She swung it with precision, cutting through an Orc's defense as she channeled death mana to enhance her strength. "Stay focused!" she called, cutting down another Orc.
Matt moved in, helping where needed. When one of the Orcs swung its massive axe toward Brian, Matt appeared in a blur of motion, using his barrier skill to block the strike, giving Brian the opening to deliver a fatal blow. "Keep it together, you've got this," Matt said, his tone encouraging.
The battle raged on, with each of them showcasing their growing abilities. Despite their rough start, they were becoming more coordinated with every fight, learning to use their powers in tandem.
As the last of the Orcs fell, Matt stepped forward, wiping his brow. "Nice work, everyone. That was a good test of your skills."
