Chapter 127: Marvel 127
Matt looked at the massive Gate in front of him. It was a red Gate, towering over ten floors high—an S-Rank Gate located in Japan.
"What do you think of it?" asked Goto Ryuji, Japan's strongest Hunter. He was one of the few who believed in Matt's theories about ranks beyond S-Rank, as he could somewhat sense it himself. In his opinion, this Gate was more than just S-Rank, which was why he accepted Matt's help in investigating it.
"It's more than even an SS-Rank Gate, actually," Matt said, causing Ryuji to look at him, astonished.
"Is there a rank even above SSS?" Ryuji asked.
"There is. It's called Ex," Matt replied, his voice calm but firm.
"Unbelievable" he said as Matt said, "I know right"
" anyway let go in" Matt said as Ryuji nodded.
Ryuji led him forward. "Let's go in," he said, nodding.
Matt decided to do the exploration on his own, with Ryuji acting as the cameraman this time. However, Ryuji wasn't taking any chances—he carried his own sword, ready to assist him in moments of need.
The moment they walked in, Matt created a golden barrier, as if he had anticipated the attack long ago. Standing before them were thirteen towering beings—giants of immense size.
"This is the challenge here," Matt said calmly, leading the way. "They're giants."
One of the giants swung a massive sword at them, but it was effortlessly blocked by Matt's golden barrier. Without hesitation, Matt raised his arm and summoned a great sword that appeared as if it had been forged from light itself. With a single wave of his hand, the sword slashed through the air.
Ryuji stayed close by Matt's side, watching in stunned silence as Matt's sword cleaved through one of the giants. The massive creature split into two halves so cleanly that it took a moment for its body to react. The lifeless halves crashed to the ground with a deafening thud. The rest of the giants, seeing their fallen comrade, charged forward, only to meet the same fate. Matt snapped his fingers, and the golden barrier shifted into blades of light that sliced through the attackers. The giants fell, one after another, their bodies collapsing into lifeless pieces as Matt walked forward, unshaken.
Behind him, Ryuji stood frozen, overwhelmed by what he had just witnessed.
Wasn't he supposed to be a tamer? Ryuji thought, struggling to comprehend the sheer strength Matt had displayed. His thoughts were interrupted as Matt glanced back at him, while those watching the events unfold through Ryuji's camera were equally stunned by Matt's power.
"He's… a Ruler's Vessel," a voice whispered from the shadows. Hidden nearby, the Monarchs had been observing the spectacle.
The Monarch of Frost narrowed his eyes. "Yes, but we must kill him first. He is far too compatible with a Ruler's powers, a perfect vessel" he said.
Querehsha, the Monarch of Plagues, smirked and nodded in agreement. "Let's not waste any more time. He's a threat to us all."
The Monarch of Beasts let out a low growl, signaling his readiness to strike.
The Monarchs had completely mistaken Matt for a Ruler's Vessel. If the Monarchs represented Destruction, the Rulers embodied Protection—two forces that stood at opposite ends of the cosmic balance, locked in an eternal war.
This unending conflict had now spilled over to Earth, a battleground where both sides clashed indirectly. The war had reached such a scale that the Monarchs, weakened by the Rulers' influence, could only exist on Earth-Hidden. The planet had become a sanctuary of sorts, protected by the Rulers' lingering power. To continue their domination, the Rulers had begun creating Vessels—humans capable of wielding their divine powers as extensions of their will.
These Vessels served as living avatars of the Rulers' might, chosen to safeguard Earth against the encroaching chaos brought by the Monarchs. And now, the Monarchs believed Matt to be one of these rare individuals, someone capable of using the Rulers' power against them—a threat too great to be left alone.

As Matt continued to walk deeper and deeper into the dungeon, the oppressive silence was broken only by the faint echoes of his footsteps. Soon, he reached a grand, cavernous room. The air felt heavier here, suffused with ancient power and despair. At the far end of the room, chained to an enormous stone throne, was a man.
"Monarch of Beginnings… Legia," Matt murmured, his eyes narrowing as he recognized the figure.
Legis was a name that few remembered but one that held immense weight among the Monarchs. Once, he had been revered as the third strongest among their kind, surpassed only by Ashborn, the Monarch of Shadows, and Antares, the Monarch of Destruction. But his fate had taken a cruel turn.
Long ago, Legia had fallen into a trap laid by the Rulers, bound by their divine power and imprisoned here as nothing more than a pawn in their eternal war. He was a relic of the past, a weapon kept in reserve by the Rulers to shape their plans for the future.
And now, that plan was clear. Legia had been reduced to a mere stepping stone for Sung Jin-Woo, the current Vessel of Ashborn, the Monarch of Shadows. Though Ashborn had once been bound to the concept of Destruction like the other Monarchs, he had broken free, choosing to fight against his kind alongside the Rulers.
Grinning, Matt continued toward the chained figure as Ryuji, standing a step behind him, glanced at the man and asked, "Who is he?"
Matt smirked. "The reason for the Portal Gates on Earth... the Monarch of Beginnings, Legia."
Ryuji's eyes widened at Matt's words. It was common knowledge among those who knew Matt that he possessed a unique skill—an ability that allowed him to see through and extract information about any target he laid his eyes upon. This skill was one of the reasons Matt's words were often treated as undeniable truth. Hearing Matt declare the identity of the man before them made Ryuji focus intently on the chained figure.
