Fury wasn't exactly timid. After all, wasn't this the guy who didn't panic when facing Loki's surprise attack? Although, it was likely that he didn't fully realize who he was up against.

Let's not get into what happened later. When Fury first met Noah five years ago, he didn't seem overly panicked, even when facing the Kree and Skrulls.

It's just that the events from five years ago left him with a bad memory. After all, who wouldn't be shaken seeing alien fleets that still harbored ill intentions toward Earth?

But this time, Fury's worry was in vain. In Noah's memory, even if aliens came to stir trouble, it would take at least another eleven years. At that time, a guy with a hammer, who had been stripped of his power, would fall to Earth, followed by his brother—who loved him like a first love—causing trouble.

But that was all in the future. For now, they didn't need to worry about any aliens causing problems.

After Noah reassured Fury, he remained skeptical and didn't press further. He knew that no matter how many questions he asked, he might not get a straight answer.

Instead, Fury decided it was better not to ask anything more and simply follow these young people to see what they were up to, all the while relaxing himself.

However, things quickly took a turn.

"I said, you asked me to follow you just to help you pay the bill?"

Sitting in a New York restaurant, Fury's already dark expression deepened further.

It only took a blink for them to get from Washington to New York. Fury, who had been through this once before, wasn't overly moved, but he sure wasn't pleased looking at the bill in his hand.

"No, you can think of it like we don't carry your usual currency. If you want, I can give you some gold galleons, how about that?"

Noah was slightly embarrassed. He had originally intended to treat them, but after rushing over, he realized they didn't carry U.S. dollars or pounds. However, they did have some gold galleons on hand.

For magicians, ordinary currency wasn't something they typically dealt with, and they certainly didn't visit regular restaurants with everyday people.

"Okay, give me one for my collection. To be honest, I don't think I can use your money, at least not now."

Fury took the gold coin Noah tossed at him and examined it carefully, only to be disappointed to find that it was just an ordinary gold coin.

But after taking a closer look, he felt something familiar.

"Speaking of which, do you magicians do business with regular people?"

"Uh? Why do you ask?" Noah raised an eyebrow, surprised. "If there's any business, it would probably be exorcism. You know those guys, right?"

"Of course I know them. A bunch of weirdos. You can't say this or that about them, but they handle mysterious things. They seem no different from regular folks. Are they related to you?"

"You could say there's a connection. They act as a bridge between the regular world and the magical world. But if you want to learn about us from them, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. Their status in the magical world is pretty low, and like you said, they're not much different from regular people."

Noah casually leaned on his hand, and Fury felt a bit embarrassed. He had actually been thinking along those lines.

After parting with Noah, Fury had deliberately contacted some exorcists, but he found them rather easy to mess with.

Shaking his head, Fury shifted back into a serious tone. "This seems similar to something I've seen before. By the way, do you know the High Table?"

"High Table?"

Noah scratched his chin. He was familiar with the term but couldn't immediately place where he'd heard it.

"Yes, the High Table, a group of assassins. Their headquarters is said to be in Jerusalem." Fury continued, but soon noticed Noah's face looked a bit strange.

The High Table?

Jerusalem?

Isn't this John Wick?

Noah's mind immediately raced, recalling several key phrases: "Don't touch my dog," "suit thugs," and "the master of supplementary shooting."

Another detail flickered through his mind: wasn't the boss of this group wandering in a desert, and hadn't they taken a finger from John Wick?

That finger...

Noah thought about it for a moment, then hesitated before asking, "Wait a minute, can I ask you a question?"

"Go ahead," Fury nodded.

"Is there a company called Abstergo in the U.S.?"

"Abstergo? Of course there is. It's one of the largest multinational pharmaceutical companies. The taxes they pay each year could almost support an entire state. Why do you ask?"

"No reason. Just have a headache."

Noah did indeed have a headache. If he remembered correctly, Abstergo was a shadow company created by the Knights Templar to legally cover their operations.

The Knights Templar's enemies were the assassin groups, naturally.

Noah wasn't entirely sure what modern-day assassins were like, but he didn't think they would hide their hidden blades and leap off buildings in broad daylight. Even vampires had learned to use firearms, so why wouldn't assassins be the same?

Noah also recalled that the assassin Altair was once active in places like Damascus and Jerusalem during the dark days of the Crusades in medieval Europe.

Now, the High Table's top dogs were hiding there... It was hard to say there was no connection.

After thinking for a while, Noah directly asked, "I've read about them in some books. They probably have no connection to magicians. But since you know they're hiding in the desert, why don't you go find them?"

"Too dangerous."

Fury shook his head. "First of all, they have excellent methods to avoid satellite tracking and are nearly impossible to trace. Secondly, they have too many killers. If we were to take them out, the entire assassin network could fall into chaos. So…"

"I get it," Noah nodded, understanding. It seemed SHIELD did have an interest in apprehending them, but the sheer number of assassins made it a risky move. The consequences could be disastrous if they lost control.

Noah shrugged, deciding not to dwell on it. This world was full of strange and poisonous things.

If someone told him that in a country known for producing action films, there was a city full of students, Noah wouldn't be surprised.

Or if there was a hidden village with ninjas who could use magic-like techniques, he wouldn't find it impossible.

"Is this world not afraid of being restarted?"

Noah wondered, but after a moment, he chose not to think about it further.

After all, it was all just imagination. Whether it existed or not didn't matter to him. Noah hadn't planned to make contact with the real world unless it became necessary.

"Just do your thing, and don't worry about it."

After paying the bill, Noah, Evan, and Fury headed out. Honestly, Noah was contemplating whether they should head to Westchester.

Although he didn't plan to contact them as a magician, what if they pretended to be mutants?

It didn't seem impossible, right?

Or maybe they could just pose as Fury's agents. After all, it was rare to get out.

"Let's check out the mutant school," Noah said, making up his mind.

"Mutant school? Are you going to talk to Xavier? Didn't you just say an hour ago you didn't want to meet him?" Fury asked, curious.

"No, we can pretend to be your agents or disguise ourselves as mutants. We don't need to be magicians for this."

"Is that so? What do you plan to do there?"

"See their situation and make an assessment. Don't you want to know about their lives?"

"I know them pretty well. Don't forget what we do."

Fury rolled his eyes but didn't object. As one of SHIELD's key members, it was impossible for him not to know about mutants. But he hadn't seen their base up close, so this was an opportunity he wouldn't miss.

After discussing it, Fury stepped away to make a phone call.

As a man who adhered to principles, even though he might not need to report every move, Fury took no chances, especially with his promotion at stake.

"Noah, what's an agent?" Kate suddenly asked, with Evan and Lance also looking confused.

"Agent? Think of it like a member of the Order of the Phoenix, like Professor Snape," Noah explained, choosing an example they could understand.

Professor Snape had indeed been involved from the beginning. Even though he was never accused by Lucius, the pure-bloods that Lucius had accused would not let him go—despite him having killed Voldemort. Thankfully, Professor Dumbledore protected him. Although Snape had been investigated later, no one dared to persecute a Slytherin headmaster under Dumbledore's protection.

"Wow, that sounds cool! But what about the magic of those mutants?" Evan asked, excitement clear on his face.

"That's not magic. It's an innate ability. They may develop it, but they can't learn other things, unlike us magicians," Noah shrugged.

"Are we going to pretend to be regular people?" Lance asked eagerly.

"Well, I think we could also pretend to be mutants. For example, I'm good with fire, you're good with frost, Evan's good with wind, and Kate... is good with mud?"

"Playing with mud? That's earth element magic! Wait, are the four elements coming together? Can we summon a dragon?"
