Chapter 218: Chapter 216: Friendship! Carol & Hana!
Entering the driveway, I exited the truck and opened the garage before pulling it into the spot right next to Mom's car. Shutting the truck off, I closed the garage door and softly yawned as I glanced at Carol exiting the vehicle.
"Huh, you've got a lot of mechanic stuff. You like cars?" Asked Carol curiously as she glanced at the various tools and equipment before looking at Tut, who shook his head while entering the house.
"Nah, they're my Dad's. He had to take care of that old piece of junk to keep it running. You'd be surprised at how often that thing has broken down." Replied Tut lightly as he glanced at Carol before gesturing to the truck behind her, causing her to nod lightly.
"Mom, I'm home!" Yelled Tut loudly as he closed the door to the garage after Carol entered while removing his shoes, prompting her to do the same.
Tossing my jacket onto the railing of the stairs, I entered the kitchen, where Mom was making ramen and boy, did it smell and look good.
"Oh my god, this smell." Muttered Carol softly as she deeply smelled the air before gulping and glancing at Hana intensely.
"Oh, I see you've brought Mrs. Danvers with you, Pharaoh." Said Hana lightly with a twitch of her eyebrow as she glanced at Carol before looking at Tut, who kissed her cheek before nodding.
"You are the one who invited her first Mom." Said Tut lightly with a faint smirk as he leaned down and whispered into Hana's ear, prompting her to click her tongue before shaking her head.
"Anyway, is dinner almost done? I'm starving." Added Tut curiously as he looked at the pot Hana was slowly stirring, causing her to nod while pointing to the table.
"Yes, now make yourself useful and prepare the table." Said Hana calmly as he glanced at Tut while tasting the noodles, only to add more salt to the pot.
"So, um, are you a chef, Mrs. Kent?" Asked Carol softly as he stepped closer to Hana while staring fixedly at the pot.
"Chef? No. I'm a biochemist for Lexcorp, and my grandmother was a chef back in Japan, so our cooking skills run in the family." Replied Hana with a shake of her head as she glanced at Carol, who nodded in slight surprise.
"Well, you for sure could've fooled me. I've never had authentic Japanese food." "Oh, well, it's nothing special, just ramen, a basic meal I could make with my eyes closed." Remarked Carol and Hana, respectively, as the former glanced into the pot while the latter lightly shook her head with a faint smile.
While Mom and Carol talked, I prepared the table before sitting down and spending the remaining time texting Harry, who had been on a business trip with his father for the past few weeks. It's no surprise, obviously, as he was Norman's son; it only makes sense he would take over the company after Norma retires; of course, everything goes as planned.
"Nah, man, I feel like shit for not being there to support Pete." Said Harry in frustration as he spoke to Tut over the phone, prompting him to nod in understanding.
"I feel you, but it's not like you could've known this would happen. Besides, Pete ain't alone; he's got friends. I also heard MJ asked him on a date." Said Tut lightly as he flipped through the TV channels while holding the phone to his ear, causing Harry to widen his eyes in surprise.
"MJ asked him on a date!?" "Eh, I'm stretching the truth a little. She merely said she wanted to help him move past Mr. Parker's death, but since it'll just be them, it's practically a date." Remarked Harry and Tut, respectively, as the former stared at his phone while the latter shook his head, stating the truth.
"Oh, well, that's still a step in the right direction; I'm happy for Pete. He's had a crush on that girl for years. Though, speaking of that, how did Gwen take it?" Asked Harry curiously with a faint smile, only for him to furrow his brows, prompting Tut to sigh.
"What do you think? She was, well, annoyed, to put it lightly, which is understandable; I mean, Gwen is superior in every way compared to MJ, in my opinion, but hey, I'm not Cupid; I don't know how love works." Stated Tut lightly with a sigh as he turned the TV off before plopping onto the couch, only to hear Hana call him.
"Anyways, I've got to go; I'll talk to you later, Harry. Make sure to call Pete." "Yep, seeya, and you know I will." Said Tut and Harry, respectively, as the former stood up and approached the table, while the latter nodded before ending the call.
Tossing my phone onto the couch, I approached the table and sat down while Mom served our food, giving me the biggest bowl by far.
"Eat up." Said Hana with a faint smile as she sat down and glanced between Carol and Tut while the former rapidly nodded.
___
___
"A-And then, boom! H-He exploded!" "What!? N-No way? That's insane Carol!" Exclaimed Carol and Hana, respectively, as the two sat directly beside each other with large smiles while the former told a story.
"O-Oh, really? W-What–" "What happened next? Wait! Don't tell me, let me guess, he somehow came back to life?" Said Tut and Hana, respectively, as the latter interrupted the former and excitedly grabbed Carol's shoulder.
"Hahaha, yep, then he exploded five more times! Abusing his remaining six lives." Stated Carol with laughter as she nodded while glancing at Hana, who held her stomach, laughing.
"Hey Carol, what bout tha-" "Not now, Tut, I wasn't finished. And then, guess the look on his face when I was still standing perfectly fine?" Remarked Tut and Carol, respectively, as the latter shook her hand before shifting her focus to Hana, who eagerly nodded.
'Okay, fine then.' Thought Tut in annoyance as he left the table, neither Carol nor Hana noticing his disappearance.
Since Mom and Carol were getting along uncharacteristically well, I decided to leave since I was apparently the third wheel no one wanted as I was constantly ignored.
"Tsk, I have more friends than either of them anyway." Muttered Tut in slight annoyance as he grumbled under his breath while grabbing his jacket.
As it was still somewhat early in the night, I decided to head towards Stark Towers and talk with Tony, hopefully getting him to help the people of Egypt in some way or another, though I didn't have much hope.
"Maybe I could ask for a job? Nah, I don't want to work under him. Though it does depend on how much he's offering." Muttered Tut with a faint smirk as he tapped his chin while walking past the table before exiting into the backyard.
Closing the door behind me, I launched into the sky and headed for Manhattan.
___
___
"Haa, having me work so late? What kind of brutal boss do I have? Oh, I know the Famous genius, playboy, billionaire, philanthropist, Tony Stark, who, let's not forget, is also Iron Man." Muttered Potts in annoyance as she tapped her head while typing on a keyboard, not bothering to raise her head when someone knocked on the door to her office.
"Whatever it is, save it for tomorrow." Said Potts firmly as she constantly switched between her keyboard and mouse, only for the door to be forced open.
"Yo, excuse me, but I'm here to see, Stark, Mrs. Potts." Asked Tut lightly as he leaned as he leaned against the doorway to Pott's office, only for a bullet to hit his head.
"O-Oh, my god! I-I'm so sorry, Blacksteel, I-I didn't know it was you. I-I saw a large figure, and, and…" Said Potts with widened eyes as she dropped her gun while quickly running towards Tut with concern, only for him to dismissively wave his hand.
"It's fine, I understand, Mrs. Potts; after the whole fiasco with Stane, it's normal for you to be on edge a little. Though, I appreciate you shooting me because of my large stature and not because I'm an alien... Or Black." Said Tut with a faint smile as he glanced at Potts, who heaved a deep sigh of relief while picking the bullet from the ground.
"Haa, still, I apologize for shooting you. Anyway, Mr. Blacksteel, what can I help you with?" Asked Potts softly as she patted her chest before approaching her desk while gesturing to a chair, only for Tut to wince.
"Ugh, please, just call me Pharaoh when I'm not in my suit; I'm not quite used to that name; it feels weird." Said Tut lightly as he shook his head while Potts tilted her head in confusion before nodding.
"Anyways, I'm here to see Stark; I'm just here to tell you so he doesn't blame you. He's the kind to get upset at someone else when his stuff doesn't work, and his security defenses wouldn't have spotted me unless I allowed them to, so I came to tell you first." Remarked Tut lightly as he glanced at Potts, who nodded in agreement while rolling her eyes.
"Haa, please, do not remind me; making him take responsibility for his mistakes is so difficult. But, he is learning… Just very slowly." Said Potts with a nod as she folded her arms while groaning in frustration, causing Tut to chuckle.
"Anyways, want to experience something cool?" Asked Tut with a mischievous smirk as he approached Potts before grabbing her hand, causing her to raise an eyebrow in confusion and curiosity.
