Chapter 1915: -1874- [ Old Man of the Mountain ]
At this moment, through the ability of the Mind's Eye, Rozen could easily glimpse into Bedivere's physical condition.
For example, his heartbeat.
For example, his blood circulation.
And for example, the activity of his cells and the transmission of his neural signals.
All of these were laid bare before Rozen's eyes.
Rozen even used his Spirit Vision ability, seeing Bedivere's spiritual energy, immediately grasping his condition.
This made Rozen's expression grow somewhat complex.
Perhaps sensing something, Bedivere finally raised his head and looked toward Rozen.
Then, Bedivere stood up and walked in front of Rozen.
"You are the Master of Chaldea that the King has mentioned, correct?"
Bedivere displayed a polite smile and, like a true gentleman, bowed toward Rozen.
"I have heard from the Mountain people about your great achievements. Truly magnificent, just as the Mountain people said, it's a bona fide miracle. Please allow me to express the deepest gratitude on behalf of everyone here."
Bedivere said this with great seriousness.
However, Rozen did not respond, continuing to gaze at Bedivere.
"Senpai?"
Mash immediately felt something was off.
Rozen did not explain but fell into silence for a while before speaking up.
"Can you still fight?"
A strangely out-of-place question that instantly froze the smile on Bedivere's face.
Then, Bedivere also fell silent.
A heavy atmosphere spread between Rozen and Bedivere.
This atmosphere made Mash feel uncomfortable and puzzled the people from Chaldea.
Only Artoria (Alter) glanced at Rozen, perhaps impressed by his ability to discern Bedivere's condition, or perhaps trying to change the topic, as she spoke.
"Bedivere is our trump card. I will not allow him to take the battlefield until the official confrontation with the Lion King. Until then, he will not be sent into battle, nor will he face any of the Knights of the Round."
Upon hearing this, the people from Chaldea froze.
"A trump card?"
"Bedivere?"
"This knight's spiritual foundation doesn't seem to be very high. How could he be our trump card against the Lion King?"
Olga Marie, Roman, and Da Vinci wondered about this.
After all, in legends, Bedivere was one of the weaker Knights of the Round, and his strength might even fall short of Agravain, the knight-civil servant. His strength was considered impressive only compared to ordinary people but paled in comparison to the heroes of legend.
In this case, even as a Heroic Spirit, Bedivere's strength was not outstanding, and though his spiritual foundation could not be said to be low, it was certainly not that of a top-tier Servant.
Given this, how could Bedivere be a trump card against the Lion King?
They wondered if any of the Knights of the Round could solve this problem.
Only Rozen, glancing at Bedivere's silver right arm, let out a silent sigh and said nothing more.
Bedivere said nothing either, remaining silent, his eyes showing even more complicated emotions than before.
Then...
"Let's return to the main topic."
Artoria (Alter) interrupted the current discussion, speaking up.
"Next, I will gather the scattered Mountain people here and transfer the other two Servants here."
She then explained.
"Currently, I have four Servants under my command. Apart from Bedivere, who is one of the Knights of the Round, the other three are Assassins, all of them are Old Man of the Mountain."
Upon hearing this, the attention of the group was successfully diverted.
"Three Assassins are all Old Man of the Mountain?"
Mash exclaimed in surprise.
"Old Man of the Mountain."
This was not a reference to a single person but to the leaders of an assassination sect.
Around the 11th century, a group of radical, extremist people formed a sect under the Ismaili branch of the Shia Islam, named the Nizari sect. They were known for their violent resistance against the Seljuk Empire and frequently engaged in wars and assassinations. They used extreme measures to spread their beliefs, and as a result, their sect became infamous as the Assassins.
The term Assassin originated from this sect—Assassin was derived from the Arabic term for those in the sect.
Thus, they were the source of the word Assassin, and this class of Servants, when summoned without any special catalysts, would be one of the Old Man of the Mountain
from the Assassin order.
Because the founder of this sect discarded his own name and used Hassan-i-Sabbah as his title, all subsequent Old Man of the Mountain took on the name Hassan-i-Sabbah.
There were a total of 19 Old Man of the Mountain, with the first being the founder. The remaining 18 all possessed unique assassination skills, pushing them to the extreme. While their combat abilities might not be high, they were undoubtedly the top assassins in terms of their killing abilities.
The three Servants Artoria (Alter) had under her command, other than Bedivere, were all Hassan.
"They have always been protecting the Mountain people in this era. It took quite a bit of effort to win them over and have them join my ranks. The reason I can control the Mountain people is due to these Hassans."
Artoria (Alter) spoke calmly.
"Right now, one Hassan was caught by the Holy Knights, but the other two are guarding the Mountain people in other villages. Once I issue the summons, it will take about two to three days for them to bring large groups of people here."
With that, Artoria (Alter) got to the point.
"In the meantime, there is one thing we must do."
What was this thing?
"Rescue the Hassan captured by the Holy Knights."
This was the first thing Artoria (Alter) planned to do.
It was not only because the captured Hassan was one of her Servants or for battle power concerns but also because if this Hassan was left unchecked, their intelligence could be exposed.
"If it were any other Hassan, the moment they were captured, they would have immediately taken their own life to prevent the enemy from gaining an advantage. Even if they couldn't succeed in self-destruction, their training would prevent them from being successfully interrogated, thus not revealing any of our intelligence."
"Unfortunately, the Hassan captured this time is the least experienced among them, and we cannot guarantee she won't divulge our secrets."
"Therefore, we must find a way to rescue her."
Artoria (Alter) made this decision.
