"What's the situation on your end?" Cod asked, looking at Scallop.

"A kid from the Leaf," Scallop said, shaking his head. "But it was just a clone. I didn't find the real one."

"A kid?" Mei Terumi couldn't help but ask. "How old?"

"About your age," Scallop replied.

"It's impossible that he's alone," Mei said after a moment's thought. "Scallop-senpai, you continue the pursuit. Cod-senpai, you search the vicinity for any other ninja."

"Looks like that kid is in for some bad luck, being targeted by our little genius," Cod chuckled. Mei didn't say what she was going to do, but she had always been assertive. She was bound to retaliate for the slight.

"Let's move," she ordered.

Scallop sped across the ground, chasing in the direction the young man had fled.

"Be careful," Cod reminded Mei, then vanished.

Mei's young face was serious. She formed hand seals and activated a sensory ninjutsu. Over there! She let out a soft huff and darted into the woods.

"They're splitting into three groups?" Haneul observed their movements through his 8x scope. He hesitated for a few seconds and decided to give up on his initial plan. Normally, apart from geniuses, ninja who joined the Anbu were at least at the Special Jonin level. He definitely couldn't beat them, so it was best to leave it to Tsunade.

Haneul watched Mei as she headed towards him. Two kunai appeared in his hands and then vanished.

Water Style: Water Formation Wall!

Mei reacted quickly, and a wall of water shot up from the ground. The kunai slammed into it, creating two deep craters. Mei's pupils contracted. How is the force behind these kunai so strong? It defied all common sense.

In the instant she was distracted, two more kunai flew out, striking the first two. BOOM! The water wall was pierced through.

Mei instinctively drew a kunai of her own. As she dodged, she slashed at the kunai closest to her. An immense force slammed into her. Mei's expression changed, and she unhesitatingly let go of her weapon, rolling on the ground to create distance.

Before she could even catch her breath, she heard a sound above her head. She looked up, and the first thing she saw was the arc of a blade, like a crescent moon. How is that possible? Wasn't he just over there? Am I going to die?

The next second, the roar of a dragon echoed. To her left, a stream of water condensed into a dragon and flew towards him, roaring. It was Cod, coming to her rescue. He had been searching for other Leaf ninja while keeping an eye on Mei. She was a genius valued by Elder Genshi; if anything happened to her, none of them could bear the consequences. But he never expected her to be defeated so quickly. Having been admitted to the Anbu at her age, Mei's skills were naturally exceptional, and her mastery of Water Style far surpassed that of an ordinary Chunin.

Haneul frowned slightly. Without much hesitation, he chose the most advantageous course of action. As he sheathed his sword, he kicked out, striking Mei directly. The mask on her face shattered instantly, and she was sent flying. Haneul forcefully twisted his body in mid-air and slashed at the water dragon. Wind Style chakra flowed along the blade, giving it a menacing edge. The water dragon was split in two.

"D-damn it!" Mei's cheek was swollen. But she didn't dare to delay. Wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth, she staggered to her feet.

"Are you okay?" Cod appeared before her in a flicker.

"Just a minor injury," Mei said through gritted teeth. "We can't let him get away!"

Cod nodded, but when he turned, he saw that Haneul had already disappeared. "He can't run!" Mei formed hand seals and used her sensory ninjutsu again.

Swish, swish, swish! She spun around and threw three shuriken.

Cod was prepared. He used a Body Flicker Technique, keeping pace with the shuriken. With three sharp clangs, Haneul blocked all three with his samurai sword. But then his vision blurred, and Cod's figure appeared before him.

"It's over for you, kid!" Cod sneered, imagining the look of terror in his eyes. So what if he's a genius? I kill geniuses! He raised his ninja sword without mercy.

Blood sprayed through the air.

"Cod-senpai!" Mei's eyes widened as she cried out subconsciously. She had seen Cod slashing at a tree. It's... a genjutsu!

Mei quickly formed hand seals. Water Style: Water Whip! A whip made of water formed in her hand, and she cracked it forward.

Body Flicker Technique! Haneul kicked off a tree trunk, his body shooting towards Mei like an arrow. Even though she was a young girl, there was no room for mercy in battle.

Crack! Mei flicked her wrist, pulling the water whip back. But she was half a beat too slow. Ignoring the whip coming from behind, Haneul slashed at her. Water scattered everywhere. It was a water clone.

Haneul was alarmed and instinctively turned his head. A water dragon was rushing towards him. He ran, forming hand seals. Just as it was about to hit, he activated his Body Flicker, and his body became a blur.

Mei's face was pale. He dodged even that? Always proud, she felt a crushing sense of defeat. Back in the Hidden Mist, not even Zabuza Momochi, who had killed his entire graduating class, was a match for her. She was the undisputed #1 genius of the younger generation, yet she couldn't beat a kid from the Leaf.

Haneul let out a sigh of relief. His C-Rank 'Swift as the Wind' Trait, with its 100% foot speed boost, combined with his Body Flicker, had saved him. He looked at Mei, and a guess formed in his mind. With her reddish-brown hair and such incredible Water Style at her age, she was most likely the future Fifth Mizukage.

"Bastard!" Cod finally broke free from the genjutsu. He charged at Haneul, enraged. Being caught in an eight-year-old's illusion was a profound humiliation.

Haneul was expecting this. He casually threw out a kunai. "A kunai is useless against... what the hell?!" Cod's face changed drastically. The three kunai thrown at him were wrapped in thick bundles of exploding tags. He estimated there were at least nine in total, which would be equivalent to a full-power strike from a Fire Style Jonin.

"Fall back!" Cod shouted, scrambling backward even faster than he had charged. Mei was startled but didn't hesitate, leaping back.

A massive explosion roared through the forest. Flames shot into the sky, and the nearby trees were instantly ignited and charred black.

"It's a good thing I'm rich," Haneul said, leaping into a tree. He knew Mei had sensory abilities, so he didn't dare to linger. Body Flicker! Using the light of the fire as cover, he moved quickly through the trees.

Cod had just steadied himself when he heard a whistling sound rushing towards him. He instinctively tried to dodge, but it was too late. Blood splattered. A deep gash appeared on his right arm. Gritting his teeth against the pain, he rolled on the ground to escape.

Haneul couldn't pursue him further and turned his gaze back to Mei. Although he had a handsome face, covered in blood as he was now, he looked rather menacing. Mei's heart pounded, and she subconsciously took two steps back.
