William waited for a second deliberating what he'd do
"What are you waiting for, let me in?" The leader of the group said.
William still had his hopes up that the old man would pull something, a distraction maybe, something that would take their attention off them long enough for him and Ingrid to escape.
He even hoped the spider would intervene soon, and out of control chaos was better than a certain death at gun point, at least there was a small chance there at deciding your own fate. William smiled and said.
"Let you in? Jezz mind how you phrase these things, I told you don't swing that way."
"Still making jokes huh? Alright, how funny is this then?"
The man moved the nozzle of his gun away from him and pointed it at Ingrid. "How about her? Are you gonna joke around with her life?"
William sighed and exhaled every bit of wishful thinking he had. Now he was trying to negotiate with a grim reality he was just about to enter.

The man smiled at him and said, "See? That wasn't so hard, was it? We'll all get along if you listen to me."
"Yeah, that's what mass murdering dictators usually say."
"You don't have anything on you, no abilities, nothing."
"I thought you came for the grenades?"
"I came for everything you fool!"
"I can't say I don't feel your pain, I hope I had more talents too, but my parents were dim wits."
"Don't make jokes"

What's this? He looked William in the eyes. "So you do have special abilities, bet you didn't know I could see all your notices, you can't hide anything for me, not while I'm inside you."
"Jezz men, just kill me already or mind how you phrase things."
"So what is this glitch? Tell me."
William couldn't find the words to begin, he had no idea what that was or why it had shown up, the first time he had paid attention to that it was counting down but it seemed not to be doing so now.
Why does he think that's an ability?
He suddenly remembered when he had used it against the snake at the black tree, how he had moved through its body like a mist. It was all still so unclear to him but he had a strong feeling, an inexplicable attachment to it.
"Oh you don't want that, it does nothing special."
"Tell me what it does!"
The intensity with which the man spoke pushed William to speak without much thought to what he was saying, after all he wouldn't believe he had no idea what his own ability does.
"It messes with," William said, unsure of what he'd say next. " It messes with….you know, the system of the guide, I guess, of other players."
The man didn't even think about it for a moment, he smiled and said, "that's a great ability, I want it, give it to me."
'Shit, I wanted to discourage him not sell him on it.'
"Come on," William said. "You don't want that."
The smile on the man's face disappeared suddenly and in its place was a scowl, "Give it or I blow her away."
The spider screeched again from the burning trees and they all turned around to see it disappear. "Hey look at me, I'm your major problem."
"Alright"
William saw a twinkle in the distance, I was clear to him something was headed their way.
Hey whats that, he said but the man and the rest of the group refused to break their attention from him.
"Stop playing games with me!"
"You have guns pointed at me, why would I play children's games now? there's really something heading this way, it could be the spider or something much worse."
"I can see it too," Ingrid said. "I don't think he'll budge, why don't you look," Ingrid points at one of the goons and he turns to the leader who approves with a nod. The man turns around and sees what they had been talking about as it's approaching them..
"Boss he's right, it's a kite."
"A kite?" William remembered they were the special tool Nod liked using.
The man turned around and saw it and Ingrid looked at William and he signalled with his hand telling her to stay put.
The options on the notice, we're still on his pov, activate the glitch or not?
"Someone's coming for us, is it four eyes again?"
The agitation on the man's face grew to a frightened degree, he was manic and was quickly losing his mind from worry and fear.
"Shoot that down,"he screamed at his men. "Shoot that down!"
Bang!
Suddenly they heard a gunshot but the men hadn't fired yet. The goons turned around to see their leader fall to the floor with blood gushing out of his head.
He landed on the floor and William looked at the men rather awkwardly.
"It wasn't us!" William said but he could see the mix of uncertainty and fear in their eyes. With this leader gone for the moment they were akin to headless chickens, there was no telling what direction they'd move.
Then William heard the man grunting, they all looked down and saw him grabbing the side of his head as the blood ran through his fingers.
"Someone's stealing from me! The man screams in a frenzy, he looks at William and Ingrid and his faces twisted in anger. "Shoot them!" he cried.
William looked at the men and saw that in their eyes uncertainty vanished, their fingers tightened around the trigger and his heart sank.
"Shoot them all!"
The goons were ready to fire when the kite whistled through, they turned and saw it as a blur as it flew past their faces then and ran through William, tethering itself to him, as he had been its target all along.
The kite pulled William off the tree and Ingrid quickly jumped out of it and after him, William grabbed her hand and before the men could readjust and fire at them the kite pulled them upwards and out of sight.
"Shit! There was no one attached to the kite. Don't just stand there! Shoot them, shoot them down!" The man yelled as he got on his feet again.
His men ran to the edge of the tree and pointed their guns at William and Ingrid.
The man tried to pull the bullet out of his head, "they're stealing for me, they're stealing my life!"
Then he heard another whistling behind him, it was the sound of a kite and when he turned around, he saw a man coming at him with large tainted googles, tethered to a kit and wielding a flame thrower.
Before he could reach for his gun the whole place erupted in a blast of blue flame and Nod took the goggles off and smiled at his beautiful work.
The kite took William straight up to where the loot was, everyone that had been fighting over it had fled, died or were in hiding so William knew he still had to be very cautious.
William and Ingrid landed on the webs and the whole structure shook. Standing on it was a bit difficult as the shaking made them feel like they could fall at any moment.
But they were only a few feet from the loot,"look!" Ingrid said with a smile, "we made it."
"Yeah, how long did you say it'll take again?"
"Ten seconds."
"Thats a really long time."
"Then no need to waste anymore."
Ingrid walked as fast as she could to the loot, constantly keeping her balance against the shaking webs. She placed her hand on it and the longest ten seconds of both their lives began.
